We love Thailand. With every visit we try to combine our trip with historical, nature, and cultural activities.
In the previous trip, we watched the Siam Niramit - was very enjoyable and so this time, we were looking around for another 'show' to compliment our visit this year.

When we found 'Muay Thai the Legend Lives' on youtube, my little 6 year old and his younger brother couldn't stop watch the trailer over and over again. As we would be in Thailand just a few days before his birthday, we decided to make it a birthday present for him. It was definitely one of the highlight of our trip to Thailand!

I was a bit bummed because we missed the special opening one for one deal. I wrote to someone in the company to check for any other promotions on the way. To my surprise, my email caught the attention of the producer of the show who personally replied my queries. He extended a very warm welcome and told us to expect a 'surprise' for the birthday boy on the event day.

From the moment we picked up our tickets, we felt like we were treated like VIP! They had reserved in advance the best seats on the house for us and the youthful smiley team in the ticket booth nodded at Russell- they all knew his name - and were all ready for the 'surprise'??

You could buy ice cold beer one for one, pop corn etc for a reasonable price before the show.
The theatre was international class - plush seats, good views from almost all angles. Super clean bathrooms (a real welcome in Bangkok). Ushers in uniform showed us our seats; no photography allowed - and they will confiscate your phones and cams. These people are nice and they have reasons why they don't want you to record their show so please don't do it and make a scene which spoil the show for others.

The show started on time. Theatrical effects, sounds system, stage lighting, technical set up and most importantly, the martial arts displayed by the performers is outstanding. We are arts and theatre buffs and have seen many broadway type shows around the world. I am also commenting from being an ex martial arts practitioner. This show is an amazing combination of theatre cum the art of Muay Thai alongside a simple storyline weaved into it. It's not 'real'- it's a 'performance'. For anyone who reviews the show needs to keep in mind, the 'real' Muay Thai is in the ring. Just like Jet Li being a true kungfu fighter but many of his stunts and acts in the movies are Hollywood glorified.

If you have never seen Muay Thai and know little about it, The Legend Lives offers an insight into the history and glimpse of this unique and worshipped sport in Thailand. You see the fighting less the bloodiness. The skill level of each guy is commendable. I would think since they perform every night, they would be inclined to slack off..... I was wrong. They are truly a professional cast. There were numerous scenes that cause jaw dropping moments.

One of the previous reviewer Natsys gave a very accurate description and comparison with watching Muay Thai in the boxing ring.

After the show, the audience was invited to meet the cast. That's when we were totally blown away. They prepared a cute cake, with some Japanese style munchies and then everyone crowded around Russell and sang him the birthday song. The pretty ladies smothered him with kisses and hugs. The macho guys picked him up and offered their autographs. And, then they sent him and his brother home each with a wonderful The Legend Lives souvenir ... Big thanks to the lady manager who worked with Julien and the crew to set up all the details that made us feel exceptionally welcomed.

Naturally, we are wowed by the extra touch of special service and attention we'd received. Irregardless, we are more than impressed with the whole production. It is a great way to spend an evening. We had only a few short days in Bangkok and were glad we chose to spend our time here over something else. There is a bonus: since dialogue is limited, so you could be a kid, a grandmother or you could speak no Thai, no english and still enjoy the show!

In Thailand, you can get filled with a plate of Pad Thai for 25bht on the street or you can pay 2000bht for a buffet in a 5 star hotel. I enjoy street food and I like good value but you can't expect to pay the same when you sit on the sidewalk breathing in fumes from traffic as you tuck in your pad Thai and when you are being served in a posh setting with tablecloth and silverware and have access to bathroom facilities. The show is not in an open air parking lot but in a new state of the art indoor theater. Bottom line is, you get what you paid for. If this troupe ever travels to perform in a major city like NYC or London, I have no doubt it will sell out and at a much higher ticket price point.

For us, we find The Legend Lives a 5 star experience, and definitely worth every penny.

(A) Purchase Tickets
You can get the ticket at various websites. I looked up on the Website (hotels2thailand) that I booked the River Cruise Dinner back in 2015. It offers the lowest Premium Seat fare (1189 Baht, tax included) that comes with popcorn & soft drink. The downside is that, you don't get to pick the Premium Seat. So, I went on to purchase the tickets from Asiatique Muay Thai Official Website. It's 1500 Baht, no popcorn & soft drinks included. You can enter the promo code "youtube" & get 10% off. The official website allows you to pick the seat that you want.

(B) Getting There
Take the BTS to get to Saphan Taksin. Get on the Asiatique free boat ride to get to Asiatique. At the entrance, it's very easy to spot the Muay Thai Counter. Show them the email receipt to exchange tickets.

(C) Gift Shop
You will walk pass a "mini gift shop" before entering the theatre. There's not much merchandise to purchase.

(D) The Show
Stunningly beautiful. It was so well-choreographed. The backdrops, the stage, the lighting, the sound effects, etc were all well set-up. It was a 1 hour 30 minutes show. The first hour was the play, all about Muay Thai history, well-presented in a storyline. It could get you so emotionally attached. Subtitles were available on screen. After the play, you get to take photo with the cast while the staff set-up the ring for real Muay Thai fight. You get to watch 2 bouts of Muay Thai fight. I prefer the play as the play was so much beautifully presented.

(E) Conclusion
I have not been to many shows in Thailand. But, this was the best as compare to the other one that I watched in Phuket. It's a good option to spend an evening with family & friends.

I took my husband to this show for his birthday. He really likes boxing but had never been to a Muay Thai match - and I can;t stand boxing and didn't think I could sit through a night of boxing - so this was my compromise! We got premium seats which were front row and straight onto the stage (cost 1500 baht each). The theatre is beautiful, comfortable seats, not too big, but i think closer to the front is better so that you can see the action properly. there is a candy bar out the front where you can purchase popcorn and drinks (including alcohol) - not too pricey. There is also a gift shop and they take your photo in front of a backdrop for you to buy back later (not with it!)
The show is so much fun, Very engaging. I really got into it, although the rest of the audience was kind of boring - I was the one clapping and cheering! The actors are amazingly fit and acrobatic. There is a story running through the show - the first part is a little about the history of Muay Thai, then they break down the moves, and then they show how Muay thai is used in modern day - it's a little confusing but fun none the less. There is lots of fighting, both with fists and weapons, and it is very lifelike. Afterwards you can have a photo with the actors (for free) which is awesome!
While you have time to take photos, they set up a Muay Thai boxing ring and there are two fights - 3x 5 minute rounds each. I guess these are young up and coming muay thai boxers. we saw a 65kg and 53kg fight. These are real fights, and we did see a knock out. My husband loved it all! Would definitely recommend.

As someone who has actually performed in Las Vegas and other venues around the wolrd, I fear I attended the show with a "Surprise me!" attitude. I was bowled over! I have never seen better choreography - and my Grandson's mother-in-law is head choreographer in one of Vegas' newest and largest casinos - The strikes and blows rendered by the performers were spot on with the terrific audio and the overall graphic displays and the lighting were outstanding. I humbly offer my congratulations not only to the performers, but also the people behind the scenes who are always the unsung stars of a spectacular show like Muay Thai Live - The legend Lives!

Muay Thai Live is a show, not real fighting but the show is so real. It's amazing and the performers have high skills and beautiful acting. Some episode is amazing and breathtaking. I like the one that shows 12 types of muay thai. Really beautiful acting. The show will last for an hour. Even the ticket is expensive, it's worth to see how muay thai adapted from the past to present.

A high tempo show with amazing acrobatic skills of the performers, back flips, front flips, spinning in the air three times and still managing to kick someone on the side of the head (thankfully when i was there without injuring each other) with a dash of humor for good measure this show (please note show) gives an insight into the history of Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) from its beginnings a few hundred years ago to two actual live bouts of for real competition. In a purpose built building the seating is spacious and comfortable, visually stunning with a good light show and sound affects adding to the atmosphere the performers are amazingly athletic. It is a spectacle of precision Martial Arts normally seen in the movies, one mistake and they would be seriously hurt. The price is a little on the high side for Thailand but the ability of the performers is priceless.

I really wonder how the travelers have shown it Terrible...!!! In my opinion its one the best hidden show. Its a show that shows how Muay Thai was discovered and how it was amended over the time... The sound effects, the Fighting , the acting of the actors was amazing... I really had goosebumps while watching the show. You will be lost in the emotional drama and will really enjoy it... I have seen it and I will ask other people to watch this marvelous show if you want the real entertainment.

Suitable for Family, Couples, Friends everyone....

Thanks for the lovely Entertainment Muay Thai actors/players.... :)

A real muay Thai fight behind a cage in a stadium is not quite an ideal environment to take the family. I have been and it's an okay experience, BUT in this show, they actually demonstrate all the correct moves and positions! And you would never see all of them in a real fight! That was my favorite part, seeing all the moves. Let's be honest the storyline leaves a lot to be desired and is not necessary at all. The guys are all super cut, and you get a photo with them after the show hehehehehe

The first half was well choreographed n fun to watch depicting the history of Muay Thai n some Gd fight sequences. Unfortunately the second half which was supposed to be real fights were so fake... The first one was dual by 2 14 year olds n second one were by 2 females...both barely touched the opponent n when one fell down supposedly by a knockout(more like a graze!) u were just stunned that this was real fight.
The only fun thing was intermission they let u pose n take pictures with the Muay Thai fighters for free!

This is an amazing acrobatic show which demonstrates the skills involved in Muay Thai. The actors are very talented and the show is well directed with an exciting sound track. Not only can you see the demonstrations of Muay Thai moves but the show also explains some of the history and development of Muay Thai. It is exciting, humorous and informative.

The venue is very good, with comfortable seats and excellent views from all sides.

After the 50 min show the stage is adapted into a proper ring and you get the chance to see two real Muay Thai bouts.

The price (1200/1500) is maybe just a little expensive for Thailand but, of course, much cheaper than shows in the west.
