Having previously attended another dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya river on large boats and have been disappointed because of the large crowds of people, fights for taking food from buffet tables, and not being able to enjoy any view while having dinner due to the poor visibility out of the windows, etc, we decided to give Wan Fah Dinner Cruises a try despite the bad reviews on this Tripadvisor page. I can tell you that for me was a great experience, unless I've been on another Wan Fah dinner cruise boat and I think that's not the case. The night aboard the Wan Fah boat turned out to be more than pleasing. We were picked up at the hotel on time. We arrived at the pier with enough time to walk around the River City Center while we waited for the boat. It is easy to identify for its beautiful Thai architectural style. When the boat arrived a young woman in a traditional Thai dress put an orchid on our lapel and kindly asked us if we wanted to take a photograph as a souvenir. Our ticket included the number of the table assigned to us, so when we boarded we showed to the host the ticket and we were immediately escorted to our table with kindness. Our table, like all the boat's table, was located next to the boat railing, and as this is a fully open boat you have a 360 degree view from your own table. You can be seated at your private table during the whole trip enjoying dinner, a drink or the show while at the same time enjoying the night scenery along the Chao Phraya river without having to move from your table like on the larger boats. The service was excellent. First the drinks service: it is true that the cocktails are a little light on alcohol (and pricey) and are not included in the ticket price, though all dinner cruises do this. At Wan Fah the service is better and more personalized. Then they serve dinner: first the entree, then the soup and finally the main dish which was made up of four different Thai dishes (we ordered the Thai food set). After that, dessert, which was mostly fruits. All served kindly directly to your table without you having to deal with hordes of people at a buffet table and without you to stop admiring from your own table the night landscape that passes before your own eyes along the river. During all this time a young lady has been delighting the guests with beautiful Thai melodies. Dinner was warm enough, from the starter through the soup and ending with the main course. It was a very good quality food and definitely, for me, an authentic Thai traditional dinner. Also I can say that the quantity was more than enough. After dinner, the show. Magnificent performance! It was very well adapted to the space of the boat, with beautiful costumes, excellent dancers and exceptional music. It was a demonstration of pure Thai art. There are too many positives things that Wan Fah Dinner Cruise has compared to the larger boats. If you want a memorable, relaxed and easeful dinner while you indulge in the fullness of a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, Wan Fan is the place.

Thought we have a treat on the water for the evening.

The boat looks great, traditional and well decorated. Staff were friendly and the cocktail was good.

Now how anyone with a business tres to rip off tourists with frozen dried out food is beyond me, it’s not hard to cater for so few people when banqueting. Dried out salmon, dried green lip mussel, rubber cold squid a dessert that looked like soap that I was not going to digest in my body. Know doubt the worst food in Thailand and I’ve Been coming every years since 2005.

The dancers were very pleasant but well worth a miss, buck up your ideas on catering or this will not be the last bad review.

Not recommended.

After reading many reviews about various cruises we decided to do this one due to be a smaller, more authentic boat. We were not disappointed with our choice.
They picked us up from our hotel exactly on time and got us to the river in time. The driver then escorted us directly to the boarding point .
We were greeted by ladies in traditional costume and given an orchid and had a photo taken with her.
By the time we boarded and ordered a drink, the photos were ready in a frame to buy for 200 baht.
The boat is a lovely open barge. No air conditioning, but it wasn’t too hot. The starter is served before you leave the dock and was abit cold, but was still nice. You can pre order when you book from either a set Thai menu or a seafood menu. We ordered the Thai, and our mains were hot and really delicious. You then get fruit and traditional Thai sweets for dessert.
They then have a floor show with dancers which was enjoyable. This cruise isn’t as crowded and noisy as some of the others we saw. It is a smaller boat .
They do a small commentary about the sights along the way.
On return to dock our driver was waiting for us and drove us back to our hotel. It was a very pleasant evening. . The cruise lasts for two hours.
Highly recommend it.

We booked the cruise and expected to see the temples at night and "cruise" down the river and a moderate pace to at least feel the wind and breeze.

After awhile, I noticed we weren't really moving. I thought it was because of dinner being served and maybe they would start moving after the meal. I was wrong...

We asked the waiter if we were going to move after the meal and were told that there was something going on at the temples and we were not allowed to go by. Instead of allowing us off the trip or at least providing the option, they continued the cruise by floating the boat on the river.

Because the route at this point was short, we just sat there in the boat for 2 solid hours moving slower than a snail. We floated in the water with barely any movement in the hot summer air as other boats just passed us by. We ate hot and spicy Thai food with hot water, no ice and not even a breeze to cool down. sweaty. The waiters laughed like it was funny.

At this point, we were stuck ON A BOAT with no choice on getting off. We were trapped for 2 hours, lied to and robbed of our time and money for this cruise. I cannot express enough how disappointed I was with this cruise.

This beautiful barge is a hidden treasure full of great views, exquisite foods and cultural songs and dances from the Thailand traditions.

There are many positive points about this dinner cruise. It is a smaller traditional Thai style boat with live Thai music and traditional dances. This cruise would be my choice EXCEPT the food quality is inexcusably poor. Tour operator take note. Because of this, I most definitely do not recommend this tour. I felt ripped off.

Went on this last night as a result of a recommendation from our tour guide. Should have read the reviews instead of relying on recommendation and I wanted to write this review ASAP and try and avoid there being any more victims. Things started OK with a couple of reasonably priced cocktails (although they seemed to lack any great alcoholic ‘punch’) and starters of calamari and spring rolls which were just about ok. However before we had consumed the first few mouthfuls, the soup arrived! Again just about ok flavour. But we didn’t have time to gobble down the soup before the main courses were dumped on our table. Three courses had been served within 20 minutes of departure. It was clear that the objective was to get the food out of the way as fat as possible so they could wash up and get away immediately on arrival back at the pier. The main course was largely inedible. Bit of dried out grilled salmon, garlic bread that resembled grilled wood, ghastly grilled / baked mussels with cheese on, tasteless prawns etc. Clear winner of the award for the worst meal we have ever had anywhere in the World.
In fairness the female waiting staff were charming as were the dancers but the male staff were scruffy, shirts hanging out and charging around as the managers of the ‘let’s get this over with’ policy.
This was meant to be a romantic night out but was a total waste of money and two hours.
Avoid this and find a better dinner cruise.

Beautiful view and very nice show but terrible food. Garlic bread was like a pice of Wood, sea food not so fresh and everything was served so fast.

The food was so so and definitely not as good as you get on the street food. And they allowed a bunch of Russians to come to the back at our table to smoke. Spoiled the whole experience. Will definitely not do this again.
