- vhhwoodmanRomsey, United Kingdom90 contributionsWell worth visitingI have enjoyed the quality of Jim Thompson accessories owning some favourite pieces for many years. The shop houses a lot of fabrics, a reasonable amount of home furnishings, good choices of bags but not many clothes. We had a lovely lunch in the restaurant to fuel up before the shopping expedition. We bought a number of gifts with good discounts. Do allow a couple of hours if you are serious about bargain hunting.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 23, 2020
- kamaaina96822Honolulu, Hawaii796 contributionsLess men's clothes compared to 3 years agoIt's been over 3 years since my last visit. As others have mentioned, the store's selection of fine fabrics is their strong point. The only change I noticed was a smaller array of men's clothes and accessories to choose from. While stylish shirts can cost over 3000 baht, not a bargain in my view.Visited August 2022Written August 10, 2022
- VictoriaSommers297 contributionsWorth visiting if you have a new home to decorate or lots of gifts to bring homeAs a frequent traveller to Bangkok (40 times in the past 8 years), I visit the JT factory outlet regularly. Here's a review on what to look for: Where It Is - Sukhumvit Soi 93, the Sukhumvit Rd is really long and Soi 93 comes way after the Emporium. It is in a clean nice area with some small workshops around. The building itself is really neat and brightly lit. Staff are helpful though not as warm as the ones in the JT boutiques in the city center. How to get there - take a taxi, it costs about 120 baht the last time I look a cab from the city centre. Most taxi drivers or hotel staff know this outlet. The trip is about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic conditions. What to buy - the outlet is actually in a JT buidling with several floors. The ground floor features fabrics for curtains, cushion covers, etc. Very affordable prices but you have to know the exact measurements of the item you have in mind. Most fabrics are off-season but not old. Every time I am there, I see a lot of people on this floor. The next floor features some women's and men's clothings. These include scarfs, shawls, limited beachwear, T-shirts with JT logo on them, some ladies' fashion wear, handbags and mens' ties. There are small gift items too. (e.g. lipstick holder, tissue paper holder, silk wallets, silk photo frames, etc.) If your budget is 150-200 baht per gift item, you will have plenty of choices. Prices are slashed easily by half and somtimes by 2/3. The top floor is where you get carpets, mats, beanbags and those lovely cusion covers. This is my favourite floor - you can get a JT big beanbag for US$25, small carpets for US$30, cushion covers are from US15 to 40, depending on the sizes. These are usually last two seasons' designs but who really cares? The last time I went (6 months ago), the cafe was newly opened. It is located on the top floor - cappucinos, Thai snacks and sandwiches, prices are unexpectedly high though. I normally spend 1-2 hours there and return to the hotel with my hands full. Enjoy your shopping!Written February 12, 2007
- Linda AAntibes, France7 contributionsDon’t waste your timeI love the quality of Jim Thompson’s fabrics. I highly recommend a visit to his home, tour the house, watch them spin the silk from worms and eat at the restaurant. However his prices are out of my budget, so in the past when visiting Bangkok I would go to his outlet store. This year I was disappointed to find the prices had doubled and the selection had halved. 🫤 I strongly advise you don’t waste your time or money going there.Visited March 2023Traveled soloWritten March 9, 2023
- AvidKLTravellerHong Kong, China106 contributionsQuality products at discounted pricesIt's worthwhile making the trip to this factory outlet. There are 5 floors of fabrics (1-3 floors), clothes and accessories (4th floor) and home furnishings (5th floor). There is a good selection of products although for clothes, sizes are limited. This is a great place to shop for quality Jim Thompson prices at discounted prices - great for gifts! Tip- take the BTS line and stop at Bang Chak station (E10). Take exit 5. When you come to the bridge, take the right exit (Sukhumvit 95) and take the stairs leading away from the station. Walk down Sukhumvit' pass a market and turn right at Soi 93. The outlet is about halfway down the street on the left side of the road.Visited March 2013Traveled as a coupleWritten March 11, 2013
- KidKodak88Nanjing, China38 contributionsNo expectations but wallet 4000 Baht lighter!I went despite having read the reviews. I didn't think that I would find anything but I knew if I didn't go, I'd kick myself later. I took the BTS and got off at Bang Chak (E10) station, then I took exit 5. At the bottom of the stairs, I was at the corner of Sukhumvit and soi 95. So I continued in the same direction until soi 93, turned left and walked. I seriously didn't have to walk far and there it was on the left. It was about a 5 minute walk (and I walk slow!) I had a look at the fabric on the first floor. Then decided to go to the 5th and work my way down. On the 5th, it was mostly pillow cases, table runners and the like. There was a cafe. 4th floor was accessories and clothing. I spend most of my time here! There were canvas shoes for kids, men and women. Clothing as well. I was quite shocked that I couldn't button up a size 8 beautiful green linen shirt! (Maybe I've been away from North America so long that I am not a size 8 anymore! LOL!) This shirt was 1600 Baht. The clothing was hit and miss. They didn't have all sizes or colours but that's okay because I went there with no expectations. There was quite a selection of bags - make up bags, cigarette bags, hand bags, totes, lipstick cases etc. There were obviously scarves as well, and jewelry boxes, some wallets, pencil cases, hair accessories, note pads, eyeglass cases etc. the 2nd and 3rd floors were bolts and bolts of fabric. I have a quick look but I was not looking for any upholstery fabric. I didn't see any fabric for clothing. Then again, I wasn't in the market for fabric so I didn't really pay attention. For someone who had no expectations, I spent nearly 4000 Baht! I pick up little things to be given away as birthday gifts to 10-13 year old girls. Remember to get the VAT refund paper issued on the first floor before you leave the shop. The place wasn't super busy but there was at least 20 people (not including all the sales folks) on the 4th floor. I had no problems with the sales clerk following me around as one person had posted earlier. They were quite helpful. So all in all, a good shopping experience. I may even go back before we leave Bangkok just in case they get a new delivery of clearance sale items!Visited July 2012Traveled soloWritten July 17, 2012

Take the exit on the right side to descend, (near Soi 95). You can see 'Lotus Bakery' on the street. When you get to the sidewalk walk in the direction that the train came from i.e. against the flow of traffic. Then on the corner of Soi 93 is a 7/11 convenience store - a very short distance from the station, and you will turn right and walk about 4 min and until you see a large brown building on the left. Its very straightforward with these directions and takes only 5 mins from the station. On Soi 93 there are many older buildings that are vacant and being pulled down, so I expect new buildings will be there soon. This is currently a very local area with food markets and street stalls. The fabric was lovely but more designed for upholstery than fashion sewing - huge selection. Well, well well.. if you like fabric you have found utopia.
Silks and cottons in every colour and pattern, from dress making fabrics to upholstery fabrics.
Its a 5 story fabric mecca!
I must admit I have always shyed away from the Jim Thompson stores due to the prices, but this place made shopping a very affordable and dangerous exercise..
I bought; Mens cotton boxers 550 baht, long cotton pyjama pants 660 baht, girls dresses 550 baht, large silk cushion covers 700 baht. With ladies wear, mens wear, childrens wear, home furnishings and everything inbetween.
Then the silk.. prices start at 350 baht per meter, but be sure to check the widths! they have 90cm-115cm.
I took a taxi from Silom which took an hour, but took the BTS train home (its a 5min walk from the store) which took 20 minutes. So find your nearest BTS station and catch a train instead, get off at Bang Chak station.
Pack you credit card and enjoy!

I went to the large Jim Thompson outlet twice and found exactly the fabrics I wanted. It is five floors divided into Mixed bolts on the first floor displayed in a more retail manner; stacked bolts of Cotton fabrics on the second; stacked bolts of silk on the third, clothing and accessories on the forth and household items/furiture on the fifth. The selection is amazing and the prices can't be beat. I much preferred this factory outlet to the two stores located on, I believe, Silom. They even arranged to bring over some of the Tony Duquette malachite fabric from the production factory when I couldn't locate it at any of the stores. The fabrics tended to run between 16 usd and 25 usd a meter (slightly larger than a yard). If you like good fabrics then you should definitely make this your first stop. Be sure and have your hotel call and write down an exact address for your driver or taxi.

Factory Outlet is the place to seek fabrics - especially silks in Bangkok. Selection varies as this is for end of run fabrics and for those that do not sell elsewhere. Selection also depends on what projects JT has been involved in lately. If they've had a big hotel project you may find excess on sale here. On my visit there were lots of empty shelves - previously the selection has been much better. Also the silks on 3rd floor looked more dated than on previous visits. On second floor cottons & others had much bigger presence that before. The most up-to-date fabrics were on first floor.
Some ideas on prices:
- one ply 40" wide silks 350 THB (rolls with maximum 15 metres of one colour)
- thick several ply jacquard weave silks on first floor 1250 THB per metre
- two ply 54" wide silks 450 - 600 THB
- most expensive fabrics around 1500 THB per metre
In western standards cheap but they only have 54" as the maximum width. No 118" widths at all. And no sheer fabrics.

My wife likes your shop's stylish goods : especially cat pattern and elephant pattern T-shirts . And , so am I .
And when we get to Bangkok , we look forward to buy those .
But on this visit at the end of July , Including the shop on Surawong Rd, we could hardly obtain those.
Isn't that a basic pattern and standard product you always prepare ?
Did the policy change?
We want know .
Because we'll be Bangkok at the end of this year

I think so too. "Timing is all". Especially after the bargain period there are not so good products. Also I think that compared to the past, products are not substantial in the whole.
I have visited this store three times in the past, but I think if I visit in July. Good luck!

Do you carry wallcoverings, specifically House on the Klong?

No - and the house on the khlong fabrics aren’t there either. The selection is mainly knock-knacks (purses, etc) and end of run fabrics + left overs from projects they have undertaken. The catalogue fabrics can be found here only if discontinued or not selling well elsewhere.

Does this outlet sell wallets and men's shirts?

Unfortunately they have chosen to start selling this knock knack more also in the factory outlet. The patterns and colours might not be up-to-date - those that are left unsold in stores are brought here and sold at discounted prices.

There are two warehouse sales per year, in June and December. The sales are held at a separate place called BITEC Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center.

No chiffon or other whispy fabric. Emphasis on silk with some other fabrics included. They are famous for their silk which is why you go to Thompson.
