Quite old, multipurpose building, best known for its rooftop bar Lebua (highest open bar in Bangkok with perfect views and quality cocktails, yet very expensive), hotel and apartments, last, but not least, 2 star Michelin restaurant Mezzaluna (French with some Japanese influence). To fully experience...More

This hotel really blew my mind! It was so much more than I anticipated. If you ever get the chance to stay in Bangkok, I highly recommend it. One of the best values I'd say out there.

Happy to update my review of last week with the noise of the bar renovation on the 51st floor. Would appear all done in a day and no issues since. We stayed on the 59th floor river view with lounge access. Make sure you book...More

Actually we went here for our nice dinner. We enjoyed the view of Bangkok a lot. You could see the shape of Chao Praya river along with those buildings. It is remarkable. There is a bar on the roof top that you could enjoy your...More

Certainly worth stopping by to get a full view of Bangkok from above...choose a clear, non-smoggy day of course.. Decent restaurants in the area as well

Location wise, State Tower is the place to beat. It's easily accessible to different places and cheap food stops. The Tower itself is not as neat but it came with a very reasonable price.

Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions,
this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many.
Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi

plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a
night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's
worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers

Hi, You don't need tickets nor reservation when going for a drink at the Skybar. If I remember correctly most drinks were around 15 euro (?). Dress code is casual smart, that is: no shorts, no sandals or flip flops. Just... More

Can I walk safely? (13 Replies)
Hi I'm (hopefully) staying at the Shangri La Hotel next week. I want to visit the State Tower and the Jewellry Centre. Can I walk or should I get a taxi? I understand that the hotel has not been affected by the protests and is in a relatively safe area but any advice would be appreciated. Also I would like to visit Lek seafood restaurant. Is it better for me to catch the Skytrain?

The Marriott vs Le Bua at State Tower (3 Replies)
We have a 2 night stay in Bangkok and have it down to these two properties. It will be a full shopping day so access to Siam Square area vis BTS is important. Looking for a good breakfast as lunch not likely to happen . The bar at State Tower looks like a great way to start the evening with a nice restaurant dinner somewhere fellow travellers can recommend.

New Courtyard by Marriott behind Four Seasons Hotel will be in the same range of budget. The hotel is new just open less than 9 months but within walking distance to Central World Plaza, Gaysonrn Plaza, Amarin Plaza, Big C and nearest to Siam Square than Le Bua and the other Marriott. Good luck !!

just back, vertigo vs. sky bar (5 Replies)
I am just back from a recent visit to BKK. There has been a long debate on this forum between which is better, Vertigo or Sky Bar (in the state tower). I have been to both bars and eaten in both buildings and here is my humble opinion. For the bar itself to just have a drink, the sky bar at the state tower wins hands down. It is a much more dramatic setting, has a nicer breeze and is simply more pleasant. Vertigo, although the view is stunning, is long and narrow and is right on top of the...More
