Although this "Village of Love Food Tour" is offered during the day and in the evening, we chose the daytime tour. Our guide (who we met at the nearby train station) was knowledgeable and made us feel safe and secure. With her guidance we sampled foods & beverages at a number of streetside vendors and food stalls, tiny cafes, bakeries, tea shops, Chinese herbalists, fruit stalls..... It was a blast and gave me knowledge to know what to order at a street food market later in the week. FUN and delicious! Also done through our IVenture card.

Ohm was a great host & our favourite part has to be our first meal & desert. The street food was great except for the congee, I can’t say that I would ever eat that again but it was extremely funny watching my friend try it! The sites at night were beautiful & it was great getting around in a tuk tuk.

I run food tours myself back in Rio de Janeiro, so it was fascinating to see another company doing their thing in Bangkok. This was an excellent tour - the pacing of the eating was great and the walking between spots gave us time to digest what we'd had so far. Highly recommended

Of all the things we did in Bangkok this was by far the biggest disappointment. My husband and I booked this tour after reading all of the fantastic reviews. We had high expectations of this tour and were sorely disappointed. While our guide was obviously very excited about what he was saying, he was very difficult to understand and what you could understand was uninteresting. You could see the eyes glazing over of everyone in our group. While we had some decent food, we passed stall after stall of delicious looking food only to stop at a convenience store and get a juice out of a refrigerator! are you kidding me?? for $50 a person?? And we're going to split one Roti between 8 people??!! After 2 hours of torture and only a few items of food that were really worth our time and money, my husband and I begged out of this tour early, only to be followed by several others on the tour reporting they were going to leave because they did not feel well. If you go to Bangkok and eat at the food stalls you'll know how much you could eat for $50 a person, we got about $10 of food for our $100 and a very boring evening. I'm not sure if it was just our guide or some other issue but this was a huge disappointment and nowhere near what it was hyped up to be. Instead of booking this tour, I would recommend you take your $100 and go down to this area on your own. You could have a feast at a fraction of the cost without being subjected to the boredom of this tour.

We have been to Thailand 20+ times over the past 15 years and have spent a lot of time in Bangkok, in the north, and on the islands, but had never visited Ayutthaya. We found the Ayutthaya Day Trip from Bangkok (Private Tour) by Taste of Thailand Food Tours on Viator and chose Taste of Thailand because of the large number 5-star ratings and positive comments. We also liked the idea of mixing some visits to temples/ruins with some food sightseeing, as we find that sometimes, too many visits to historical sites one right after another can get monotonous and a little boring. We also liked that it was private because we like to go at our own pace.

The tour officially starts at 8am but we requested a 9am start instead. We didn’t get a confirmation for the change so we called the day before and they told us it was fine. At 9am we were met in our hotel lobby by Tamie and we hopped into a large, comfortable, air conditioned van and made our way to Ayutthaya in just over one hour.

Tamie was friendly from the very start and went over the itinerary with us and our goals for the day. she told us a little about the history of Ayutthaya (that’s when we learned it is pronounced ah-yoo-TEE-yah) , and then we snoozed for a bit while the driver sped us along.

We arrived at Ayutthaya and started at a food market. Tamie pointed out a number of local foods and bought samples for us to try. We knew many of them already so we declined some, but others were new to us (even with all of our years coming to Bangkok) and it was a nice and tasty way to start the tour. The driver met us at the other end of the market and we drove a short distance to the first temple site. We explored the site and Tamie told us the history, and also (rather responsibly) made sure the tourists around us didn’t ruin the experience by acting disrespectfully around the temples by climbing where they shouldn’t or posing for pictures while not being properly dressed. From there we visited a small, family-run Thai dessert bakery/factory which was a fun and interesting diversion. We veered from the tour’s official plan and opted for a different temple that had been restored and is in use. After that we visited a local restaurant and enjoyed some noodles, and then went to another set of temple ruins, this one near the Queen Mother’s palace. After that we explored a restaurant located on a compound owned by a prominent Thai family and ate giant prawns and delicious Thai eggplant salad on the restaurant’s boat docked on the river.

Altogether, it was a really lovely day. we appreciated Tamie’s professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. She spoke excellent English and was eager to make sure we had a nice time, even when it meant changing the plan a little.

My family and I had a great time. Katy was good, giving us the history of Ayutthaya as she led us from one wonderful food place to temple to food place, etc. Great overview of the ancient history of Siam through the food. We paid $188 (SGD) per person for this tour and we have no regrets whatsoever. From street food at the Hua Ro wet market to the delicious boat noodles at the restaurant whose name we didn't get ... we had an enjoyable time sampling true Thai food cooked the Thai way for Thais. The only issue we had was the restaurant at the end of the tour. The kitchen was very slow, and the food took too long to arrive. I would advise, for that part, just ordering one or two of the best dishes the restaurant has to offer. They couldn't cope with an order of 4 dishes. In the end, we just ate 3 dishes as the last would take too long to cook. The cooking was very authentic local Thai, but the wait was just too long.

This was a fun tour. Meeting location was easy to find. Group size was manageable. I'm a fan of the food tour to get info on local cuisine, history and culture. This tour was no exception. Got the chance to experience street food, markets, and restaurants. We hit all the flavors from sugar to savory, produce and meats. Since Bangkok street food can be questionable to begin with, we felt a little more comfortable with a guided tour so we could safely sample the flavors. There are tons of opportunities to find street food, but with the water and sanitary conditions, we liked the aspect of having a local expert. It worked out well for us. Also, went through some of the fresh meat and produce markets. Probably would not have known they were there otherwise, nor ventured in. The restaurants we sampled were excellent. Had duck and numerous other dishes. Again, I would not have gone into these ones without a local. Great tour to experience Thai food. Would recommend without hesitation.

We were only in Bangkok for a short period of time but I'm so glad we went on this tour. Bella our guide was friendly and very knowledgable not only about the food but the history of the area we were in. We were able to taste a variety of delicious food/desserts/drinks and left with full bellies. Would highly recommend this this tour, and would love to try the night tour for my next trip to Bangkok. Thank you Bella!

We did the evening tour so it would be cooler. Our guide was Bella. She was fantastic.
I've done many food tours all around Southeast Asia and on the basis of diversity of food (everything from street food, to family run restaurants, to high-end dining) and quantity of food (I skipped lunch and still couldn't finish everything that was offered), this tour is at the top. Just do it.
