It's quite late to post a review since my trip was in June 2016 but nonetheless, I feel that Kanchanaburi is a hidden gem in the outskirts of Bangkok. Ditch the city life for a tranquil trip out in the countryside. Paid 3500THB each (SGD140) for 2D1N tour with Days Tour Bangkok (inclusive of transfers, admissions tix, lunch, dinner, breakfast). Day Tours offer a range of combination of tours that suits your interest. Also, the customer service officer replies my email very promptly which gives me assurance. Do not expect a fanfare on the meals provided but food in Thailand is pretty cheap, you can opt for dinner and breakfast around the guesthouse. The pitstop we made during lunch only had 2 options (Phad Thai & Soup based noodles) on the menu and not many food places around the area. A 1-day tour will be too short as the bus ride out of Bangkok was abt 3hrs. So 6hours will be lost on the road. We took Tour #206. They provide free pick-up service from Sukhumvit soi 1-24 and drop-off at Khaosan area where you will be split into different buses. Driver was very prompt and chirpy(although he doesn't speak much English). The tour guide wasn't very active nor friendly on the first day. She only informed us of how much time we had at the places where we stopped. No information was given to us in advanced of where we were heading which caused a waste of time in waiting for our luggage which was brought to the hotel first. There was a change of itinerary of going to the waterfall first (which was supposedly to be on the 2nd day) but we were not informed beforehand that the van we boarded earlier we heading to our guesthouse and we were to board another van. To add on, the tour guide face was black throughout the journey. However, the sudden change was due to a bad weather forecast on the next day, which we appreciate the change as they had even check the forecast for the day! Other than the guide, we had an awesome trip! The highlight of the trip was the next day, with Nan, the guide for the rest of our trip. It was a private trip as there were only 2 of us. She explained to us the history in details and often offer to take a pic for us. Her car was clean and spacious and she drives very well! It was a very smooth trip. The day ended off with her sending us to the train station for the train ride to another station to board the van taking us to Khao San area. We tipped her for taking care of us so well and making our trip an unforgettable & pleasant one. Feel free to message me if you need any details and I will try my best to reply asap and with the best memory I can recall. :)

We did the floating market and elephant tour with Day Tours Bangkok. The tour it's self was fun and we got to see lots but the tour guide is non-existent. Basically you are just paying to be driven around and for entrance to see the elephants. The drive is very long and the van is manual transmission and the driver weaves in and out of traffic while texting so if you get car sick easy don't take this tour! They pack so many people into the vans as well that it is a very long ride. Pick up was good but for the drop off they just dropped us off in the middle of a busy road a few blocks from Khosan Road and we had to walk back to it. This was especially bad for the people that had suitcases. I would suggest doing this tour but try a different tour agency as I feel this one was a rip off.

We spent the first hour picking people up from their hotels, then two hours with the driver almost-crashing on the freeway to get to the Death Train. Then 1.5 hours on the Death Train with the hardest seats ever! Nowhere was it advertised that the train ride would be that long. After that was lunch, which was good, but drinks were not free. We had money, but not small enough bills for them to want to give us change. I had to fight to get my kids some water for lunch! After lunch, we rode elephants. We've done this before in a different location and the elephants were treated nicely. These elephants were treated terribly! I felt bad. My 9 year old asked me why they were kicking them and why they had chains around them. The 20 minutes we went bamboo rafting was the highlight of the day. Nice and cool, even though my daughter got her leg stuck in between two of the bamboo. Ouch! Then we were taken to the waterfall, even though it was completely dried up--we still went! Nothing to see. No mention of the waterfalls being dry before the tour. Then FOUR HOURS drive on the way back, and we were dropped off in the middle of Bangkok city (which we did know about, just seemed like a weird ending to the day). I wish I would have booked something else. I felt like most of the day was spent in the van--at one point we had to squash 4 people in 3 seats because the driver picked up more people than we had seats for and wanted to put my 5 year old in the front seat next to him with no seat belt. NO WAY. The way he was driving and always slamming on the brakes, there was absolutely no way that was happening. So it was an uncomfortable ride home to say the least. My advice is to stay in Bangkok and see the temples or the floating market. This tour was not at all worth the money or the time we spent.

Not worth the money. Did Ayutthaya and Floating Market tours with them.
To Ayutthaya the biggest problem was that the guide spoke poorly English.
To Floating market there were a number of problems:
We booked only floating market, and we had to go to Train market that we didn’t want, without any notice.
The tour was huge, with more than 40 people.
There was not much to see there, and riding the boats to the actual market was add-on to the price, which doesn’t make too much sense.
Van driver was reckless, doing FaceTime while driving; he stopped at multiple food shops on the highway to buy things for himself while we all waited in the van; there was no time commitment: the tour was supposed to be back in Bangkok by 1:30pm, but we got there by more than 2:30pm, and I had a flight back home later that day.
Other than that, comms with the agency were not the best, and could be improved.
I would recommend to travelers to look into some agency more professional, that does better planning of the tours.

Well after my 13th passport visitor stamp to Thailand I have finally found the best tour company out of Bangkok. After several occasions of being "stood up" by tour operators in this part of the world I have always tried to be cautious. But the system Day tours Bangkok runs is pretty much fool proof! I wanted my honeymoon to be special so I pre-booked everything with Dave a few weeks before our trip. What an awesome guy to deal with. Fast, efficient and goes out of his way to make sure everything works out. Infact we can't wait to go back again for another trip. Thanks so very much Dave and look forward to doing business in the near future :)

I had to book tours on behalf of my son, his wife and friend. I am so glad that I found Day Tours Bangokok as I had emailed a few other companies but they could not do the trips that they wanted .Day Tours Bangkok have trips that work really well in all different areas They have put a lot of thought into their itineraries. I have travelled to Bangkok many times and used other tour companies which do not even begin to compare with Day Tours Bangkok. I can't wait to go back to Bangkok myself and do a few good tours with this company.
From the start of my booking via email to Dave (who was extremely patient with all my questions) he made it so easy . I booked 2 tours P114 AYUTTHAYA TEMPLES AND SUMMER PALACE and P117 KANCHANABURI ONE DAY TREKKING. Both tours I requested to be private my family were so happy with the private tours and say that they could not have been any better (my son has also travelled with other tour companies there so he could compare) and their private tour guide Mr Chu was just amazing and made their days even more special with his big friendly smile he is so helpful and has a lot of funny stories to tell. My family could not stop talking about Mr Chu and the tours .
A HUGE THANK YOU TO DAY TOURS BANGKOK and to Dave for making these tour happen from start to finish it was so easy and you can even pay with PayPal .
We will see you again DAY TOURS BANGKOK.

We originally were only going to book one tour, but liked the service from Dave, and thought it was such a good value that we booked a second full day trip with 'Day Tours Bangkok'. Certainly would recommend the service. We did the "Kanchanaburi One Day Trekking Tour w/ Elephant Ride", and the "Ayutthaya Ancient Temples and Summer Palace Tour". We would have also done more with Dave, but we ran out of time... Great service, great price!

I had a few days to kill in Bangkok and stumbled across the Day Tours Bangkok website. After looking through the various tours they offer I booked the 'Kanchanaburi One Day Trekking Tour'. Which included visiting the Bridge over the river Kwai, the war museum, the allied war cemetery, a train journey over the bridge, bamboo rafting, elephant trekking, a huge waterfall and lunch! It also includes your guides and all of the transport.

The day was very well organised, at no point was there confusion about times and places. Which is good as the day is so full of activities and adventure that the last thing the group needs is people being late.

The communication when booking was superb. The staff are fluent English speakers and are very quick to reply to email bookings. Great customer service.

The tour itself was superb. I'm pretty sure there is not much else you can do for this little cost that's as good and as comprehensive as this tour.

I was so impressed I immediately booked the 9-hour cycling tour for the following day. The cycling was superb, we went all over Bangkok, through canal roads, China town and had a brilliant lunch on the river. Best. Tour. Ever.

Highly, highly recommend this company!

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE ANIMALS. I am not the kind of person to write bad reviews on trip advisor and I don't normally listen to the bad ones either unless there are loads of them so trust me do not go here. It is so cruel the elephants have beat seats on top of them and they do not look happy at all, when you first arrive they are all chained up in the heat. While we were on top of the elephants myself and the rest of our group were all very upset because of how unhappy the elephant was. An elephant with one couple on board was even crying and barking like a dog because of pain and exhaustion.
In the end you get to bathe the elephants and we all refused to do it because of how cruel the elephants are treated. I went to Chiang mai last year and went to an elephant sanctuary and it was completely different than this, the elephants could roam freely they were happy and playing and without chains or metal seats on top of them. That's how it should be.
Also, our minibus driver kept us over 2 hours late because he was sitting having coffee and breakfast outside the minibus when we were sitting inside of the bus waiting for him! It was a disgrace he even picked up and dropped off random pedestrians throughout the journey for an extra bit of money!
This tour is a waste of money and time and I feel like a horrible person for even giving them my money to treat innocent animals that way.

I've spent 3 months travelling the region and got in touch with Dave through personal recommendations from friends and family who'd been out before.
Everything he organised for me was spot on and dead easy. Moreover though he's a really nice honest, guy. He, and his wife, help you cut through the bs, scammers and nonsense that can be a challenge round this neck of the woods, being a 10 year ex pat veteran and a native Thai partnership you get great local / inside knowledge.
I'd highly recommended his services for anything whether it be general insight and advice to travel and tours booking.
Located just off khoa San and always good for a chat too - a rare and valuable find!
