Grand Building
Jan 2019 • Couples
When you exit The Grand Palace, you are greeted by a building of equal grander, a fort like wall surrounding the Silpakorn University.

A little research informs me that it was in fact part of the Palace at one time, which explains the wonderful building and walls.

The institution was founded in 1943 by Italian sculptor Corrado Feroci during the reign of King Rama VI.

Situated on the river, it’s another great reason to make sure that you do a river trip when in Bangkok.

A Historical Educational Institution!
Aug 2018 • Family
Silpakorn University is a national university of Thailand which had humble beginnings as a School of Fine Arts in 1933. It grew into a university in 1943 under the Italian art professor Corrado Feroci. Feroci was born and bred in Tuscany but when he moved to Thailand he adopted the local name Silpa Bhirasri. The university grew exponentially under the patronage of King Rama VI, who donated his Tha Phra Palace and Sanam Chandra Palace to it. Currently, the university has three campuses with more than 14 departments like those of architecture, archaeology, decorative art, music, education, engineering, management sciences and education. Many Thai princesses, famous artists, writers and poets have graduated from this institution.

King paints
Oct 2016 • Friends
In the funeral of king bhumibol, there are king paints showing at the wall since October 19,2016. It's a great spot to stop by and see how Thais people love our king.

Silipakorn
Jul 2013 • Family
This the premier arts university in Thailand and has schools for fine arts, design, and architecture. I always enjoyed visiting, especially since my niece graduated from Silipakorn. While not a major tourist site, the uni has some displays of student work and is a pretty campus in the heart of Bangkok.
