If you want some peace and quiet, get off the (orange) boat at No. 6 Memorial bridge, walk across the bridge and within 10 minutes walk you are in this quiet and peaceful place.
In the museum you learn a lot about the mother of two kings, King Ananda and King Bhumipol.

Granted, I was taken here by one of my commercial interpreters on a business trip, and granted, she, like all Thais, is justifiably gaga over the Royal Family, but I think I'd have been enchanted even if on my own. Take a Taxi, as parking is weird in this area. The house itself was fascinating, including an intricate form of sewn thatching I'd previously only seen in smaller up-country towns. It was nice to see the kitchen implements and the simple lifestyle of the Queen Mother. The grounds are a photographer's joy, with some ruins, many plants and flowers, towering trees, and immaculate groundskeeping. I am certain I strained the limits of my interpreter's tolerance for pictures. Nice places to sit and take it in. Overall, a small, tidy bit of Thai history in a lovely quiet, relaxed and notably COOL setting.

It's a peaceful, quiet little park located a short walk from the Memorial Bridge. It is not crowded like other parks around Bangkok. There is a small store selling some soft drinks, but that's about it in terms of food and beverages. The place is so peaceful and nice that you can spend hours just sitting on the park benches.

This park was dedicated to the present king's mother who is/was called 'princess mother'. More than one hundred years ago she grew up in this still quiet neighbourhood.
Just a 10 minute walk from Memorial bridge pier : Walk across the green steel girder bridge to 'the other side'(Klong San district), down the stairs, under the stone bridge, follow the road in its right turn and after 500 metres turn left into the most quiet and peaceful neighbourhood.
The park is small, full of works of art. There are two air conditioned exhibition buildings on her life. In there most is explained in Thai, BUT: turn around the moveable wooden tables, and there's English on the reverse.
There is also a Chinese shrine/temple next to the park right by the river.

It's not just the park, but it's the area around the park that is truly old time Bangkok. I went late afternoon and it was so quiet. You could easily feel you were in another world. It was perfectly quiet and this is not easy to find a place in BKK that is so tranquil. Walk around the area ouside the Park as well. As you leave the Park go right and at the first intersection, go right again....and then walk to the main street. Here you can turn around and return, but you will have seen a part of BKK that few do.

This is one of the most prettiest places I have ever visited. Read up on King Rama 5's children which should be Rama 6 who had a short life and this is his wife's area she grew up in. She met her husband at MIT in the States whilst she was studying nursing and him a doctor. There are two small buildings dedicated to a museum displaying a lot of family photos and explaining them. A MUST. However it is difficult to find and you need to research hard to find the place. I caught the BST to Wong Wian and jumped in a taxi. Lucky I had a map to give to the driver as there are a lot of back streets involved and the driver didn't know where it was even though it was within a 5 minute drive. It is also used to educate school children. I than walked to the river which is also five minutes away and was a nice walked through paved laneways to the ferry terminal and travelled across the river. I didn't have a clue where I was at is not a tourist area but catching a taxi is quite easy. I hope to add some photos at a later date when I have finished downloading and editing.

This place was built at His Majesty King Bhumibol Adyulyadej's initiative in 1993 with the intention of old buildings in an area where Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra resided during her childhood.

I stopped here with a guide while doing my city biking tour. During the day there's very people here which makes it a peaceful place to visit. I was told it gets busier in the early evenings when locals come to use it.
Dedicated to the current Kings mother it has some interesting exhibitions on her life as well as other Thai Royals and the story of how she came from an ordinary family.
It's very well maintained, shady and a really pleasant place to visit.

Enjoy this quite and peaceful park, I have not seen any tourists, only locals! You can stroll through the park before sitting down and relax for a while.
