Since I do not know where are you initiating your trip or where you are staying in Bangkok. I will give you several options. If time is your priority at the Phaya thai BTS station take the SKY LINK airport train at Rakhamhaem station, get off and go down and walk towards the saen saep (canal), there you can board the boat (Klong) to take you way BangKapit direction on the saen saep (canal).
But if you do not care about the time and you are located in central Bangkok you may board the boat near the Ratchatawee BTS station at the Hua Chang bridge (สะพานหัวช้าง) (Sapan Hua Chang is near Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, MBK Center and Bangkok Skytrain National Stadium station and Siam station, and closest to Bangkok Skytrain Ratchathewi station.) ride all the way to Bangkapit mall but at Pratunam terminal you will- interchange boats so do not loose your boat ticket, (near Pratunam garment district, CentralWorld and Pantip Plaza).
But if you are staying near the Kao Sam Rd area. Just look up you will see Mount Sake or Golden mount, below and near is the Panfa Leelard - terminal (ผ่านฟ้าลีลาศ). You can take the boat there as well and many other places along the canal too remember you will interchange boats and keep your ticket till you get to The Mall Bangkapi on Lat Phrao Road. But Sukumbit Rd is full of malls, MBK mall, Siam Paragon, Central, Terminal I, Central world, , Panti Plaza, Patru Nam,. There are Night bazars in many places around Bangkok. Another market Bo bae, the weekend markets, etc. Grocery and clothing markets Big C, Tesco Lotus. Dpt stores Robinson, The Mall. Another far away mall is Mega Bang Na. Take the BTS anywhere and ride all the way to Udon Suk get off and go down, ask where is one can catch the free shuttle to Mega Bang Na shopping mall. Or you may choose to ride from Udon Suk the ten kilometers by taxi at a 100 bath. Make sure at the mall you may. The boat will drop you off in the back of the mall and they stop at 6pm.
