When I visit Bangkok I usually stay in Sukhumvit area. This is the pulse of Bangkok with food stalls, tuk tuk, metro Nana and Asok and many other interesting shops. High ranking shopping malls like Terminal 21 and many hotels are located on Sukhumvit. Embarrassing are only the many bars with in certain places.

Went to Khaosan all the time and this was my first stay in Sukhumvit. Very big and you can get lost where to go but once you know the address, I thinks Sukumvit is better for people looking for clean and quiet stay. Also, it's fun to explore and find out nice cafes and street food. Stayed two nights and... More

Good high end luxury malls and good transport available in the area. Some nice entertainment options like dinosaur park also are available here.

If you're in Bangkok you have to visit this area. Great crowds, malls and shisha bars. People here are rolling and really friendly.

One of the most central, perhaps touristy, but very convenient areas in BKK where to stay. You literally have the whole city at your feet: BTS and Sky train public transport, taxis, millions of shops, bars, restaurants.

this area is great to be able to get around and see the BKK nightlife. The MTS is crowded, but it makes it easy to get around. Lots of traffic and tourists, but this is where all the action happens in BKK

There are two metro stations in Sukhumvit area: Nana and Asok. Sukhumvit area is convenient for tourists, you can hop onto a tuk tuk or take the metro. There are many hotels in Sukhumvit.

For the last few years I have loved staying in the Sukhumvit area. There is everything to do here. Shopping, Sight Seeing, Shopping, Entertainment, Drinking, Eating and much more. You name it and Sukhumvit mostly has it.

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
