Top ways to experience Sukhumvit
The area
Neighborhood: Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
How to get there
  • Sukhumvit • 4 min walk
  • Asok • 4 min walk

The Commercial Center of Bangkok
Oct 2019
Sukhumvit area is the center of business and tourists haven in Bangkok. There are many shopping malls and parks where you can shop, five-star hotels to stay in and fancy restaurants. If you are in a budget there are also affordable and clean hotels and hostels for only 500- 1,000 baht per night along Sukhumvit 22. Aside from that, Sukhumvit has a fantastic transportation connection via Skytrain, The Metro, and the Airport Rail Link.

The section between Asuk and Nana is actually one of the expensive residential centers, you have Terminal 21, Robinson, 11th Street very upgraded, and you can export everything there, street food restaurants, bars, hotels, pubs, very close to the train, 13th street has sports clubs and you can see All the football games and beer, you actually have everything in this area, no need for a motorcycle, every street corner you will find motorbikes, the prices of condos are up to $ 1000, if you choose to live one station on a train far from there you will pay half price for the same condo ,i live soi 13 last 2.5 years ..

Too much like home
Mar 2020 • Couples
The Sukhumvit neighborhood was a lot like the USA. There were several US franchises in the neighborhood and all the little VW vans that sold food
We were told about were no longer there. They were required to leave we heard because of lack of licensing. Sad as one of the reasons we booked our hotel in the area was to experience them. Prices were higher than we had experienced earlier in a different part of Bangkok earlier in the trip.

A great location

We stayed at the Athenee hotel within the Sukhumvit area. The area feels smart and clean but many small businesses along side the big hotels and malls.

Except for the hookers........real mixture of cultures, side streets have every culture imaginable and every cuisine, massages (some even professional and don't offer extra services!), great exchange rates, tuk Tuks and cabs, great area, we were staying at the Sofitel and it's a lively friendly area but the hookers drove us crazy

higher end shopping, hotels, and eateries
Nov 2019
Sukhumvit Road is packed with higher end hotels and shopping. And since those involve people there is also food there. This is not a place for bargains - it's a great place for air conditioning and hassle-free shopping (at higher prices). You can find most anything that you would want to buy here somewhere. Several shopping malls exist on the road. Due to the attraction of tourists the road traffic can be grid-locked at times, so you should anticipate utilizing mass transit or your feet here. Get off that road and things change markedly. Eateries, massages, bars, and affordable hotels abound nearby.

IDEAL SHOPPING LOCATION
Dec 2019
Recently took a trip , just last December 27-31, 2019 to Bangkok, Thailand. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel along Sukhumvit Rd, which happens to be the main road ( i think ) in the area. First Id like to commend the staff of Holiday Inn for being courteous , helpful and making you feel comfortable upon arriving the hotel . The lobby or should i say Front Desk is on the 9th flr where they have a lounge as well that serves cocktails daily from 6pm-8pm , aside from the free drinks of scotch, vodka , wine , sparkling wine and juices they also have a small spread on a buffet table of cheese , salami and different local dishes , just the right amount not to fill you up. For those that look forward to breakfast, .... STAY AT THIS PLACE, ( no need to elaborate ), Across the street from Holiday Inn you have a very good steak house (also recommendable) .further down you have a grocery /deli open 24hrs thats got good meat, a vast selection of wine and a lot more . Just a few more meters walk is your shopping malls thats got high end goods to affordable not to mention discounted items. Planning to visit Bangkok soon, stay along Sukhumvit and you wont go wrong.

Great part of the City
Dec 2019
I always stay in this part of the City. I enjoy the location, the hotels, restaurants and vibrant retail and nightlife too. Something for everyone, and I feel safe there too. There is the train nearby and of course the traffic (be prepared). Lots to see and do and take in. Also, I prefer to stay there and then taxi to the historic temples. Less tourists too actually.

Well worth checking out even if you are not staying in the area.
