I appreciate handwork and beautiful products that are created at this place. But prices are crazy. I understand that this manufacturer exports to the whole world, but with this approach, only rich countries can buy something.
Not allowed to take photos. I didn't know about the ban so I took some. But it makes sense. Anybody can copy the products then.

i bought a pair of gold earing and a ring with my birthstone “ruby” (color of love and passion). got my certificate and tax refund at the airport. their sales rep was good enough for me to convinced to purchase 2 items in my 2nd visit.
i’m happy so far with my purchased. looks beautiful but we’ll see how long will it shine with me.

It was a learning experience at the Gems Gallery where one get to know how the various kinds of gems were discovered. One could even purchase the end products at a reasonable price if a particular gem catches your eyes!

i bought a 14 carat white gold ring at the Gems Gallery in Bagkok. i paid 950dollars cash , this was in August 2014. I have now taken it to get evaluated to 3 gemoligists here in South africa and i have been told it is synthetic and its a gem that has been made to look like a ruby. i am so dissapointed , i knew about scams in Bangkok and that is why i went to the gems gallery because i thought they were a reputable gallery. i want my money back! i am so dissapointed!

I would actually give them a rating of minus 10,000, but that does not seem to be an option, so I gave them the lowest rating possible.
Our Asia World tour guide took us to Gems Gallery en route to the airport. He told us that this is the place to buy quality local gems at a great price. The gallery is very impressive with lots of items on display and lots of sales people ready to take your money. We ended up choosing a ruby ring, costing several thousand dollars. We were told repeatedly that the ruby was real and untreated. Once back home in Canada, we had the ring appraised by 3 different expert gemologists - all of whom stated that not only was the stone NOT a ruby, but in fact it was treated/altered and was not natural. We have contacted people at Gems Gallery and provided them with the appraisals - which did not agree with the written guarantee they provided us stating clearly that the stone was an untreated ruby. When we did ask the store to provide us with a real untreated ruby, their response was that a real untreated ruby would cost more than the stone we bought. But wait, they also said the stone was real - so what's up??
They are now not replying to our emails.
It is our experience that Gems Gallery sold us a fake ring with a guarantee that is not worth the paper it is written on. Do yourself a favor and don't walk in their store and don't get taken by their unscrupulous practice. Buy your jewellery at home where you can be sure of what you are getting.

Dear Murray,
Please do not take our response offensive in any way. But please allow us to make it clear to the public that the ruby ring you purchased was 50,700 THB (approximately around 1,500-1,600 USD depending on the exchange rate). Our certificate of guarantee does state clearly that the stone is a 'ruby' but it does not state that the stone is 'untreated'. The three appraisers were also not all expert. The result from the three have been given different results. While the most reliable one did say it is a red color Sapphire with an unspecified degree of treatment and they agree that the stone is not 'synthetic' or 'fake' as you accused us in the first place. However, we understand that this is no longer the case. And, actually we have been agreeing to offer you refund since the first time you contacted, except that we do not want to leave you misunderstand that our product is fake.
But up until now, refunding could not happen as long as you are not agreeing to return the item to us. Now we have begun discussing with American Express about Expedited Billing Dispute Resolution through Siam Commercial Bank (a reputable local bank) so as to find a solution for this unsolved matter. We wish we could find the final solution together soon. Thank you!

I'm a very keen jewellery wearer, I'd love to own some lovely gems, mine are fairly modest, but I know quite a bit about gems, and my mother was a lapidary. I've bought some lovely items in Bangkok previously, all genuine. But not from here!
I've been to this store before. This time in Bangkok I accidentally went there twice. The first time was with our tour guide, we actually asked her to take us there at the end of a tour we had.
MY teen boys, husband and I all enjoy looking at gems and are very interested in how they're cut etc. The gallery has a small work room area that you're allowed to walk through and it's explained to you as you go through. Unfortunately, if you're really interested it's all a bit too quick. They don't like it if you hang around...I think they're just trying to herd you into the showroom. I thought that was a shame, I would have liked to watch the manufacturing process.
You seem to get paired with a 'hostess'. There are a LOT of staff, many must be security. I don't have any trouble being watched but I do have trouble with being followed so closely. It's annoying. The lady was very nice, but it was annoying. It's nice to be able to ask questions when you want to, but you can't look at anything....or comment on anything.....without the staff trying to engage you in selling tactics.
I hated it.
I hated that I was looking at jewellery I wanted to comment on, and it was obviously sapphire jewellery, and they'd state the obvious...."those are diamond and sapphire rings in yellow gold", "That is earrings." "Those are bracelets with ruby". Duh!!!
I couldn't point things out to my husband...not to buy...just to look at and enjoy...without her getting them out of the cabinet and just about forcing them onto my fingers. It was awful.
I also found the prices here to be extremely expensive. Inflated by world standards. I see some Trip Advisors saying they're reasonable. Well...not!! Even the cheapest items were too expensive. Simple silver and semi precious gems like amethyst over 3000 baht ,$100 AuD when they should be half that. Really expensive. There are other gem stores in Bangkok that are equally as lovely, maybe not as big, but trustworthy. They're also more reasonable. Try SJ jewellers, and another big one, but I found ok Chin (or G.P) Jewellery.
Anyway, at this store I really wanted to look around, and enjoy the gems that Thailand is famous for, but the following, the incessant commentary and talking, and getting things out all the time for me to look at, was sooooo annoying that eventually we quit. Even my teenage boys were followed. Security I understand, but aaagggh!
Now, there was a ring that I really liked. It was waaaayyyy to expensive for me, it was over $7000 Au. It had a Kashmir blue sapphire in it and some tiny diamonds. The sapphire was spectacular. Of course I didn't buy it, but I did ask the lady to write down the number so I could show my husband the beautiful stone later.
And later, I went back to the store, with him. I couldn't find the ring with the stone, and the lady kept showing me a similar ring saying that was the one. It wasn't. They kept pushing that ring, that WAS NOT the one, and insisting it was, WITH the same huge price tag.
Being somewhat of a gem connoisseur, I knew it wasn't the same stone, and the ring looked similar but different enough...for one thing it was all yellow gold, the one I had been looking at had a white gold setting around the stone, and yellow gold band.
That sealed the idea for me, that they're cheats. When I asked the woman to write the ring ID down, They were hoping I would bring my husband to buy the ring, pay the price and get a substitute. They were hoping I wouldn't notice that the stone was inferior and the setting slightly different.
Wow, were they wrong. Nothing you can do except tell them. This is NOT the ring I was looking at and it is NOT the same stone or setting.
Be very very careful buying anything of substance from this store.
Beautiful things to look at, but a business aimed at getting the most out of the customer.
Oh, BTW, a taxi driver took us here by accident once, telling us it was the Government Gem shop...why?? I think he thought we might feel it was more respectable. It has nothing to do with the Government.

We bought a white gold opal ring in December 2016. Within six months the Opel stone changed colour from white to a murky brown colour. The stone also shrunk in size and became loose.
On notifying Bangkok Gem of the issue we were given no guarantees that the issue would be resolved without additional potential replacement costs.
In summary the guarantee they offer isn't a full guarantee.
Extremely angry at purchasing a piece of jewellery that l can no longer wear, and feel ripped off by this establishment .
So my conclusion ..jewellery purchased from Gems Gallery International Bangkok will not be replaced if your not in Bangkok as most of there clientele are from a broad there onto a good thing .

We were fooled into this business by a skillful street tout and tuk tuk driver. I feel sorry for people who think they got a bargain here, and would suggest they get their gem appraised back home to see if they really got anything of value. Fortunately, we smelled a rat and tore ourselves away from the high pressure saleswoman and left. Many of the positive reviews here look like 'plants' - buyer beware. I loved Thailand and I don't really blame the locals for trying to get a buck out of wealthy-looking tourists. Perhaps it's a kind of foreign aid program. BUT, BE FOREWARNED!

I was on a Princess Cruise shore tour and one of the stops was the Gems Gallery.
I purchased a ruby and diamond ring on the 5th December 2014
On the 9th March 2015 I emailed Gems Gallery to inform them that one of the diamonds had fallen out. They eventually replied asking me to return it by ordinary letter post only registered. To have it covered by insurance it would have cost £68
I got a quote from a local jeweller stating it could be repaired for around £50
I informed Gems Gallery of this but they still insisted I returned the ring to them at my expense. Not wanting to risk posting without insurance I suggested they post a replacement diamond and pay for the repair in the UK, the most economical thing to do. They did send the diamond but I still have to pay the cost of repair. Not a very good guarantee. I've bought jewellery abroad before and never had any trouble. The cheapest option was for them to pay for the repair in the UK but they refused.

Great bargains to be had if you are willing to work for it. Allow yourself some time and be patient with your sales associate. They will initially come off as "pushy", but if you take the time to educate yourself and value their opinion it pays off. It's Thailand, remember to smile.

"... There are various types of opal clarity characteristics that affect value. Opals, like other gems, can have fractures, or pits and other surface blemishes. An opal might also contain fragments of its host rock, called matrix. Matrix in a polished opal is usually—but not always—detrimental to its appearance and value. It depends on the type of opal. ...

The moisture loss can be caused by heat or excessive dryness, or by exposure to bright light or direct sunlight. Crazing can be prevented by never displaying opals in places— such as window displays—where they’re exposed to these conditions. ..."
