Top ways to experience Silom Night Market and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

If you want to buy fake goods such as handbags, watches, sunglasses etc then this is where you need to be. Many stalls sell the same items but even fakes can be of better or worse quality.
Don't believe anything the smallholders or shopkeepers tell you, make your own decision. If they tell you 'the bag is real leather', don't believe them unless you are sure yourself.
Barter, you must barter, for example I bought a bag, they wanted 7000 baht for it and I eventually paid 3000. The higher end fakes are really well made, a genuine bag costing £1000 can be bought a a fake for £50 or £60.

There are also plenty of bars and lots of sex on offer, if its not what you want just say no.

Definitely a good place to buy quality fake items.

There is no more stalls like before. The shops before were amazing and now were all removed and only few left.

If you have nothing else to do it is a place that is OK to have a walk around but dont have too high expectations. Just an enourmous amount of stalls that have all the same goods.

So where to begin....Got it. This is my experience on the Sunday Night Market that closes to entire street. First getting there is a breeze by the BTS it is right there. This is a fun place to spend a couple hours at night to fill your belly with some food or just people watch. What I did notice is that some of the stuff here is slightly more expensive but not that bad based off of American standards. I didn’t go down to any or the bars so I don’t know about that. I just stuck on the Main Street. Lots of food and knockoff items to check out. And definitely a place to stop by if your on vacation and in the area.

Good hospitality. Hotel and staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. We did lots of tours all arranged through hotel. Our interpreter was excellent and very friendly. Driver was very good and considerate. We give this tour 5 out of 5. Enjoyed our holiday to maximum. Did lots of shopping from weekend market. Enjoyed journey on boats which was free anytime anywhere provided by hotel. A great service. And we will go back again hopefully. Thanks to everyone looking after us.

This market has an excellent selection of accessories, particularly watches and bags. But bargain hard! I found the best way to go about it is instead of asking how much something is, offer what you think it's worth. They'll counter offer & when you walk away the price drops even lower.

If you're looking for good quality replica purses that are made out of real leather, they'll be in the shops beside the night market. Expect to pay more of course but it's worth it, they're well made and pretty hard to discern whether they're real or fake. The cheap versions at the market look fine and although they are made out of synthetic material are still good value.

Lots of sunglasses, t-shirts, dvds and touristy items of good quality. Great shopping and much better than the Chatuchak weekend market in my opinion!

Silom area by day looks good easy shops and bars interesting local items.
By night Silom market is a seedy affair. Tacky knock offs at over inflated prices. Approached by touts for girly ping pong bars ( don’t do it it’s a rip off) dirty and basically not a great representation of Thai markets or markets anywhere. It’s amazing the officials in this country allow this given the number of people who come to experience Thailand’s rich history. It’s a big miss.

DO NOT GO HERE!

This is the most expensive market in Bangkok! its all junk that isn't sold during the day at the other markets and gets dumped off here to sell for 10x as much. everything is bad quality, will break overnight or you will get it pick pocketed from you on your way out.

Beware of venders having you stand too close to the covered front tables, There someone under the table and will steal from your pockets!

I live right off Silom Road, and walk it everyday, maybe a couple of times a day to go to the bank, supermarket, post office or the skytrain. But the tourists walk it to throw their money away on knock off and shop worn goods. I watch everyday vendors unload their junk in the afternoon and then load it back up in their rolling carts at night. Next day same thing, unload, reload. The tourists see everything displayed on a table, but I see these same goods lying on the ground before they are displayed. They are worn out from be packed away and unpacked everyday, and the watches forget it. My friends have bought watches and they work for about a month once they get home, but tourists just love to throw away their money on all this knock off junk. I am sure people can tell the difference when they see a Louis Vuitton or Coach bag on your arm. If you do venture here, offer one third the price stated to you. Walk away, and wait for them to chase you. You will get your price. The main parts of Silom Road with vendors is from Rama 4 Road to Narathiwas Road.

Great selection of items to buy, although some of the shop keepers can get very grumpy if you not buying anything when looking, we got great deals on shirts and handbags especially. We were told MBK Shopping center would be better but i found SIlom night market much better and prices for handbags 10 x better! MBK was too big if you want a short market shopping time.
