Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

Time capsule of Thai life

Excellent collection of genuine artefacts of Thai life from the ancient to modern. Large and small. Antiques to postcards, it is all here. Run by a friendly operator who will spend time to answer questions and very helpful. Don't miss this on your visit to Thailand.

Bangkok time tunnel

What a surprise to find such a genuine antics shop in the Chatuchak market, usually filled with brand new items! I bought some lovely 60's or so postcards for a ridiculous price. Perfect gift for a nostalgic traveler :) The owner is very kind and dedicated to his shop. All your purchases are translated into a donation to a poor girl, so do not hesitate to buy more than what you initially planned.

Muchas gracias for you continuing visits over many years now, nice to talk to you. I am happy when you find something for your collection at my shop in Chatuchak market, Section 26, Soi 1/9, shop 205, less and less finds in Bangkok, more and more reprints, but for my customers only the best and original items. See you again.

Window into Thailand's past in Chatuchak
Dec 2015 • Solo
This store is run by a kind German, and is a treasure trove of historical material and books - if you want a glimpse into the past of Thailand, stop by and browse the postcards, the pictures, and other bits and pieces. The things sold there don't seem to be mass produced unlike many of the trinkets found elsewhere in Chatuchak Market, and even if they are, they're remnants from an earlier time - making the collection of items particularly fascinating just to look at.

Thank for your positive feedback, i put so much time and passion in this shop, searching all the unique things that can't be found in other shops. I am happy when customers appreciate and value my work and support my shop instead of buying mass produced souvenirs. My experience of seven years in the Thai antiques and collectibles market is helping my customers to trust me getting the right things for them. I can tell if Thai antiques are original and old or modern, also dating Buddha images and and bronze animal weights (opiumweights) from Burma.
