Japanese Styled Mall
Apr 2021 • Friends
The Gateway has survived the pandemic and most shops and restaurants are open full time. You can reach the Gateway Mall by the BTS Skytrain and getting off at the Ekamai station. You can walk right into the mall from the train platform. The ground floor has a Max Value supermarket and many resaturants as does the first floor. The flavor of this mall is primarily Japanese, so you will find any type of Japanese food and beauty products and cosmetics. So if you are looking for something Japanese, you should find it here. There are many shops on the upper floors also including many electronic shops. There is a western restaurant on the ground floor if you are looking for a different taste. It is a convenient location farther down Sukhumvit and smaller than its upper Suk malls.

Delicious vegetables, tofu, curries, and great value ! 🥦😷

On the ground floor between the Watsons farmacia and the MaxValu supermarket, there’s a tremendous vegan food booth - called ‘So Vegan’ / โลสีแกน - at which you can actively practise kindness to yourself, future generations, our fellow mammals and other sentient creatures, and the environment, while purchasing delicious and flavourful cruelty-free food.
There are various options available. One can
buy items individually - as is the custom
among many Thais - or as part of single meal reusable boxes (composed of a selection of dishes with some healthy purple rice). I can guarantee that any customer will enjoy her purchase, and things are not expensive at all.

Great Hangout for Kids
Dec 2019
Mall is attached to a BTS station and has plenty of things to do for big kids (say, 7 - 13) from laser tags, VR stations, flight simulation experience and a huuuuuuuge playground in Harbor Land where kids can run, climb, slide, swing to their heart's content. Personally this is better than any pretend-professions playgrounds across town.

Very good location mall with big Harborland
Dec 2019 • Family
This is a really good location mall in downtown Bangkok. It’s on Sukhumvit rd. soi Ekamai (Sukhumvit 63) and got direct BTS station connection. There’s a lot of parking indoor both in basement and carpark building.
On lower 3 floors there’re lots of chain restaurants especially Japanese. The best is that on top floor there’s Harborland indoor playground that’s just opened in middle of 2019. It’s for children age 1-13 yo and it’s very fun!

Slightly weird mall popular with Japanese expats - good food and direct access from BTS Ekamai
Oct 2019
This place has LOTS of Japanese restaurants but I don't eat at them because i am vegetarian. Hpwever there is a good food court in the bottom floor which has stalls making fresh fruit and veg smoothies as well as a great VEGAN food stall which makes all your Thai favorites without fish or meat.
There's a very good stall making mango and sticky rice too.
They also have a Farmers Market with fresh baked goods, bread, vegetables etc on some weekends.
Its linked to the Sky Train by walkway so its easy to get in and out.

Feels a little like in Japan
Sep 2019 • Family
Entering the Gateway Ekamai mall we were surprised that there were so many Japanese or Japanese themed shops and restaurants and facades that for a brief moment we thought we were in Japan. We came here originally to visit the One Piece Mugiwara store (based off the famous Japanese magna). There was also Tsuruha - a popular drug/cosmetic store in Japan. Gateway Ekamai mall is conveniently located right next to the Ekamai BTS station.

Few good dining options
Aug 2019 • Couples
Oriented towards Japanese customers and those into Japanese goods and services (plenty of Japanese goods, pharmacies , language schools) with some addition of cafes and average grocery shop. There’s two food courts, one on a ground floor and second, on 4th floor. Decent furniture and electronics stores.

Many restaurants and electronics shops, and away from the tourists
Aug 2019
Visited Gateway Ekamai mainly for a session at Total VR. Upon arrival, we found that Gateway Ekamai is also where flight experience Bangkok is located.

There is a food court but also many other restaurants, most of which serve Japanese food. There are also some small electronics shops selling cameras and phone cases, which seem more geared towards locals than tourists. The quality and price are not terribly attractive.

There are few tourists here, perhaps because Gateway Ekamai is on the smaller side and further away from major attractions. This however means shorter (even nonexistent) queues for restaurants. There is no need to go out of your way to visit this mall, but if you plan to come for certain experiences (VR/Flight sim), it's a decent place to spend a few hours.

Japanese Style Shopping Mall
Mar 2019 • Solo
This is a beautiful shopping mall of restaurants and shopping that is uniquely Japanese on the first level. It is located right next to Ekkamai Skytrain station which makes it easy to find. This Ekkamai skytrain stop and next, Thong Lo, are located in two areas which Japanese expats favour living in.

First level off Skytrain, has many Japanese restaurants and bakeries around the perimeter of the mall. The centre floor area has vendors selling clothing, housewares and other items, all very affordable. I did a lot of shopping here.

The ground floor level has a lot of fast food restaurants: Thai, Japanese, Western, plus bakeries, plus a supermarket where you can buy complete cooked meals to microwave. It is a very good supermarket for grocery shopping and many Thais shop here. The quality is very good. Fast food vendors can cook you a hot meal quickly from scratch.

The mall has higher levels with many different vendors. Escalators go all the way up as well as elevators. There is even another Thai food court on one level. There are rest areas of seating on each floor.

I really enjoyed the experience of this mall.
