Know before you go!!

An absolute rip off. A boat ride through this market is priced according to how you look. I paid 4000 baht, which was insane. Some hotel mates paid 5000 each or 10,000 for their one hour ride. Save your money!!

Great value and fiu

I was expecting a hoaky overrun tourist scene but found an intriguing and friendly tour that was great value. The stops were shorter than I wished and fascinating hydroponic nursery. I want to go back and hire a private boat to take us around.

No floating market
Mar 2019 • Friends
Way Sai floating market unfortunately had closed down, contrary to information available on the internet ! We preferred going there as it was closer to Bangkok city, but were disappointed as they had ceased the floating market a few months ago. Only a normal marker remains and by the time we got there (10am), even that was closed for the day. We were advised by the locals at wat sai to go to Taling Chan floating market instead which was another 30mins away.

An experience

So much fun to be a part of this. Make sure that you take the boat outside of the market as well so that you can see how the locals live in the water too. Make to to haggle/bargin for anything with you would like to purchase.

Floating Shopping Experience
Nov 2017
Certainly a different shopping experience compared to going to the Mall. Shopping stalls alongside a river bank and not to mention floating boat shops, while you float along in your own boat. You buy just about anything from handcrafted local ornaments, clothing, food, alcohol an not to forget the coconut ice-cream. You can also opt for a elephant ride after your floating shopping experience.

Misleading info on internet, not worth the trip
Oct 2018 • Couples
Not a floating market at all. We went on a Wed morning at 10am and almost 90% of the market is closed.

There won’t any boats in the river and just plenty of stalls selling local food and crafts. Small area made up of Temples and residential. Not quite worth the 1 hour trip from central Bangkok.

Go early to avoid crowds

Loved the experience of the floating market. Lots of sellers with food, ice cream in coconuts, clothes and hats. Its colourful and you must go with the locals for a short boat trip round the canals to experience this place.

Great experience. Exhausting day

We ended up doing this after getting somewhat scammed by a local in Bangkok who said he’d take us to the tourist information centre (turned out to be a travel agency). We paid $32AUD each which included pick up at 6.30am and drop off at Kha Sa Lot (even though we were told the driver could take us to Chatuchak markets). We were told it was a 1.5 hour drive but turned out to be closer to three hours - which was awful because I was dying to use the toilet. When we arrived it was still quiet so we got on the boat and did the tour of the markets. Definitely a unique experience. But the prices were higher than you’d expect to pay - probably because of the experience. Little boats drive up and down selling. You food and drinks. It’s pretty fun. At the end you get your of the local village which was pretty cool. I’m glad we arrived early because it got really hot and by the time we left it was soooo busy the boats could barely move. It was a fun experience. There are restaurants to get lunch from after wards as well (very basic). It was a long drive back and it all seemed to be a bit chaotic. But a good experience. The onl thing I didn’t like were the animals at the front of the markets - a massive snake and a slow loris being handled way too much. I just ignored those as I didn’t want to be one of those tourists encouraging it by taking token photos with it.

Fun cultural experience
Oct 2017 • Friends
My girlfriends and I book a boat to experience the floating market. I had something in mind but it turned out ok. So many vendors on the side selling tons of souvenirs plus vendors in their boats selling different things. My girlfriend got a kick out of the fruits (this is why she came here). I just wanted to see what a floating market looks like. I was able to buy thai tea (so delicious when I made it when I got back home). We had barbequed chicken (made sure it was thoroughly cooked), some sweets and bananas. I had the chance to get of the boat to check the clothes (very expensive, and the seller won't lower her price). People can haggle but you don't need to buy or feel that you are in a tourist trap. I haggle and if I didn't agree with the price, I asked the boat driver to move on. It did became crowded in the murky river mid afternoon. I saw many people smiling and it appeared they are having fun. They do sell "fake" designer purses ( I bet you people are still buying it). Just so many things to see and buy (if you want to buy). I went there for the experience.
