Having lived in Bangkok for 17 years, i was shocked to see how dead Pantip Plaza was. Before you could not move for shops and customers. We went today and around 60% of all stores were empty. Whole floors with nothing. The only shops left we empty.
We tried to get a replacement battery, normally no problem, but now we were told come back in two weeks.
Sadly time has caught uo with this once wonderful mall, its time to reimagine it as something else. I certainly will never go there again.

What used to be Thailands #1 tech mall and one of the busiest in SE Asia is now 90% unoccupied. Just a handful of stores on the ground level and another handful of stores on 2 other levels. Other levels are empty without any stores. Positive is there are still computer repair shops there. JIB Computers also.
guess covid and steep rent increase drove businesses away Other Tech malls still bustling like Fortune but not as spectacular as Pantip USED to be.
Some Pantip shop owners also mentioned hostility from renter when they wanted to open second locations at Cyber Tower Rachada Road. No customers due to covid and using spectacular logic Pantip raises the rent.
Be aware that the outdoor food vendors in front of Platinum Mall priced their "street food" 3 times normal Bangkok price plus it is precooked and sits in the sun growing bacteria for X number of hours before eaten. Saw the same setup in yard of Central World mall. Example; Pad Thai noodles with shrimp 200 baht . In most mall food courts 70 Baht and you get air conditioning and comfortable seating versuscrappy chair breathing car exhaust.

I went to Pantip Plaza like I used to visit every trip I go to Bangkok. 24/10/2022 noon time.
90% of proper shops were shut down, not just closed. only walking 3rd floor has some small items, like LED clocks and accessories.
On the fifth floor, a few shops do minor repairs for PC or laptops. mainly cost by Covid 19 and the boom in online sales. Really hope the IT plaza should be able to reopen again.

Was looking forward to a buzzing sim lim experience but was in for a disappointing trip. The only thing open were some hardware shops on the 3rd floor and that's it. If you're looking for cables, batteries and cpus then you might be interested, but there's really nothing fun to be bought here. Was looking for a laptop bag but couldn't find that either. A big disappointment.

Pantip Plaza Ngamwongwan is a place for amulets. During the weekends, there are a lot of amulets on display and people go there to hunt for "treasure". Besides amulets, there are also electronic stuff, car accessories, antique, barber, food and a flea market. Its a one-stop shopping place where goods are sold at reasonable prices.

Pantip Plaza is the electronics mall in Bangkok. It is big, and you can find all sorts of stuff there. However, after comparing prices, any imported goods are still a premium price. If you are buying stuff that are manufactured locally, then the prices are reasonable. You have to beware of imitation goods (Like one time I was being sold an imitation Nikon battery, not 3rd party battery, at slightly lower than the full price. You need to know your products before going there.).
If you are a Singaporean, this is the equivalent of Sim Lim Square. I have been to Pantip Plaza every time my wife goes to Platinum mall to shop, but I have not bought anything significant from there as I can get many things at a better price in Singapore.
There is a food place at one of the floors. Pirarcy is still rampant there, with pirated DVDs and software sold openly.

Difficult to get to with the congested traffic in the area, or a hot 10 minute walk from the nearest BTS station.
Pantip Plaza is like stepping into an early 90's time zone, all chrome escalators and dirty scuffed tiles. If it were a computer the ZX Spectrum comes straight to mind, it may well sell some of the latest gadgets on the 'market' but some of the hard sell tactics in here would have the likes of Alan Sugar chomping at the bit... all 8 bits if u no wot I mean Harry.
Personally this reviewer has been on numerous occasions looking for copies of BBC TV series but to little avail, the vendors here all sell the same products and are very slow at getting new shows in stock. Best to stick to Internet downloads. To add insult to injury many of the DVDs and software here are poorly ripped, often freeze and the customer made to wait whilst a 'new copy' is made in a backroom somewhere. Henceforth "20 minutes Sir" can mean anything up to an hour! ;) Just thought you should know.
Well really I only just got started with this review ... The male touts are very rude and insist on asking any foreigner if he wants 'sexy movie'. Say no more, wash my mouth out with soap and water. Soap and water I say, deary me these men are a bore lol.
If you want a trustworthy electronic wholesaler or a good technician to fix your PC etc. then I would recommend Fortune Town (IT city) as a friendlier and more reliable destination to buy both upgrades, software and hardware items, it is probably the most underrated mall in Bangkok.
But Pantip has run its course for me and looks seriously in need of a big upgrade of its own. "Just 5 minutes now Sir" ...

This place was amazing, for any tech savy person interested in computers this place is amazing! If you have ever been to a computer fair then this is basically a massive 5 level computer market with quality computer parts and gadgets at amazing prices compared to here in Australia. We had soo much fun there just looking around and when there you must pick up a set of PRO BEATS headphones which are brilliant, I bought 2 sets!
Must go for any computer savy person!!!
But, If you are not interested in computer parts or gadgets then this is not the place for you!

We had heard that this was the best place for electronics/electrical shopping. However, we had done our homework for things we wanted to buy. Basically, the place has lots of shops under one roof. If you don’t know the prices of what you are planning to buy then hold on! We felt the shops at Pantip plaza sell at prices higher than ebay or if you are lucky then at par to ebay if you haggle to death. There is no deal factor I would say! Online shopping forums are a lot better than Pantip. We picked up a local solar power bank of 30000 MAH at 500 Baht which was at par to online prices.
A lot of fake Apple and Samsung phones are available between 1000 and 3000 Baht. They were not in our area of interest and I don’t recommend buying these anyway!
You may want to spend an hour to see around at Pantip but it will let you down if you are aware of the online rates for gadgets you want!

Yes, I have bought a few, but you have to shop around. Afterwards I found that I could get a much better deal through eBay.
I would like to know whether at Pantip Plaza there are specific shops that sells car entertainment systems and also lights for home
