It took a while to find this great little place but unfortunately we had to sit on the pavement for 30 minutes as there is simply not enough room to enjoy the music that was playing inside. The quality of the music is directly unproportional to the disappointing space that it's played in. Dont go there on a friday or saturday night because you will be outside on the pavement.

Let’s get our co-ordinates right; You need to get to 13 Samsen Rd., Banglumpoo - opposite Samsen Soi 2. If you are coming from Khao San Road is only a short walk but, for example, from Siam Square is a 20 minutes drive. Just tell the taxi driver: Banglumpoo Samsen soi song. However, do not enter Soi 2 because it is on the opposite side of the road. You will see a rather small sign outside reading “Adhere the 13th” preceded by a crown and below it, in azure “Blues” and in white “Bar”.

Now, the place is tiny, blink and you miss it. If you are lucky, you will be able to get a table and it is likely that you may be sharing. The interiors is narrow, memorabilia is old style, album covers, old road signs, pictures, a bar counter, pub style in one corner of the room. The clientele is varied and the commonality is that they all love music. Next to the bar counter are a bass player, a guest singer, a drummer and Mr Pong, guitarist and owner.

I have been in some interesting places in my time and some of the best have been in Bangkok. Saxophone was top of my list on my previous visit but from tonight it has gained competition.
Immediately, it hits me that this is a friendly bar and the expectation is that you enjoy music because this is what they do best here. There is a vibe as soon as I cross the business threshold. It is as if someone has gone in and released a full canister of “Happiness”. When I say happy I mean deep happy. Did I remember to say “Happy”?

Mr Pong goes for a solo just as I sit down, I am mesmerised. Have I just walked in the best Blues Bar in the world? I ask myself. At least that is how it feels like to me. Last time I was taken in a similar way was when listening to Buena Vista Social Club.

This is one bar where you do not come for the chatting. Here the sounds of BB King, Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Billie Holliday, Muddy Waters are alive on a daily basis and the music plays from 18.00 hours until midnight. Once you hear the blues played here, you will get hooked up, guaranteed and you will make it a must visit destination every time you find yourself in Bangkok.

Tip: From about 21.30 hrs there is a resident band playing here and the later it gets, the busier it becomes. Therefore, try to reach this venue a little earlier so that you can get a seat. Drinks are available and there is a weekend grill but frankly I am too busy with the music tonight.

Adhere is definitely ad hoc with me.

I'd say this is my favourite bar in Bangkok. It's not much to look at-- tiny, with a non-existent design theme (actually a good thing)-- but it's all about the vibe. Just visualize your most ideal friendly neighbourhood musician's hole-in-the-wall bar. In Bangkok, this would be it. Every city has funky little joints like this that cater to roots music fans, and are difficult to find but once found are immensely fun and convivial to have a drink in. Inexpensive drinks and simple but decent bar food.

And the local and expat blues musicians that play here are absolutely topnotch. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level. The Thai blues guys were particularly impressive (who knew?). World class. The owner Pong is himself a tremendous guitarist, sounding at times like blues great SRV and sometimes like the amazing country picker Albert Lee. And since the place is extremely small, the customers like-minded musically, and the atmosphere friendly, people tend to meet each other. I met people from all over the world, including a Chinese blues harp player who grew up in Denmark.

If you are a decent enough player, Pong will even ask you to sit in and play some smokin' blues (i play a bit too, hehe). And the crowd goes wild, lol. When i was there the first act was an English solo acoustic blues guitarist who played so well (with a perfect sense of time, sounded like an actual blues recording) that I had to ask if he was famous. Turns out he was. I'll leave you in suspense as to who (he recently became a permanent resident in Bangkok), but to summarize, if you are a serious live music fan spending a few days in BKK, this is the bar to visit. I have great memories of Adhere. I'm definitely going back there on my next trip, which thankfully is very soon!

Noi & I love this Killer Blues Venue! Artists from all over the world come here to gig.We normally come late night around 10:00pm & always stay til close. My wife & I run Enjoy Bkk Bistro & Bar 57/1 & basically come here on Sundays or any other night we can get a way.We have a guesthouse on Airbnb 'Bangrak House 32' for six years we've been sending any guest who'll listen that they've got to come to see this epic rockn blues institution in Bangkok. We do not get anything out of this.It is purely only to support the Blues community in Bangkok. To be this far away from from America France & for the blues to be played with so much passion & true heart & soul on the other side of the world is so fantastic to hear.
We have had our pub for four years. These guys pour a pure simple real strong cocktail. They have a very fairly priced beer & drinks menu & a killer barbecue & fine Traditional Thai menu.
My Step Father who's since passed away & My Dad who's going to 80 this year were & are life long Blues Players .I grew up with this Rockn Blues music & for us this is the Home of the Blues in Thailand!!!
Best regards, Mac & Noi
Cheers! Happy New Years 2015 !!!

Great blues the first night, good blues the second time. Overall a great place to have a drink, watch the cat, and listen to what unfolds.

This place is great for live blues, friendly people, fun atmosphere, cold beer and whatever is cooking on the charcoal grill outside. It's loud and crowded but so what, you're in Bangkok!

On the night that we went, this place was mostly serving to Western ex-pat men over 45 and their companions, who tended to be Asian women. There was real sense of community here. I got the feeling that many of these guys have been living/coming here for many years and have a long history with each other. Great people-watching.

I wish you could upload videos to TA! The place is small and cozy and the music is just awesome.

The crowd is a mix of locals, expats and travelers. Cocktails are very fairly prices, beer is a bit more expensive compared to other places but well worth it if you get to attend a live performance.

Adhere the 13th, also known as "the blues bar" is a tiny music venue with a huge numbers of followers: just get there, and you'll understand why.
The ambiance creates a perfect frame for blues, the night opens with a solo act (some amazing blues guitarist-singer like Andy Martin are a real treat for blues lovers...) and continues with a full band. The crowd is super relaxed, a mix of Thai, Expat, travelers.
