The area
Address
Neighborhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

The food market used to be really great, there were lots of little food stalls and you could eat excellent, authentic street food. In the summer of 2023, the entire hall was renovated and now it looks more like a European imitation of an Asian food market. There is much less choice and the whole ambience is kitschy, modern and no longer the same. We used to come here every time we visited Bangkok, but that's no longer the case...

For me, its like an "oasis" in the city!
There are many food stalls inside which sell various cuisines with GREAT DEAL (cheapest price guaranteed along with the taste!), it opens start from 12 PM (lunch time) (perhaps) until midnight (not sure what time). Other store that sell fashion items and such start to open on evening onward, I guarantee its more fun to be visited starting from evening (because almost all shops & foods stalls are open at that time).
The portion for most foods here are GREAT, really really worth the price (I'll keep saying this frequently, just because...it is!). Bought Chicken Pad Thai for 50THB only...that I even want to bring it back home! For Moslem tourists, I found one stall which has "NO PORK" sign written at the front and yes I ate there (but the food I ordered cooked for pretty long time, I waited for almost 15-20 minutes >.<)
If I'm not mistaken, every food stalls provide free drink with self-service at the front, so take your own glass and pour down the water from gallon there. If you want to buy drinks outside the free one, you can go to one stall near Shangri-La Hotel/Ban Oou Mosque entrance (not the one opposite Glur Bangkok Hostel which has a lot of yellow umbrella). A bottle of mineral water for 20THB (if I'm not mistaken).
If you go further inside the market, you'll find stalls that sell shoes, clothes, dresses, and other fashion or electronics stuff. I found a good quality shoes for 80THB only! Also, many went to Thai Massage here and most of it costs 200THB/hour. You'll find a row with all Thai Massage kiosk.
Hope you all have fun there! Explore as much as you can ^.^

As I've said, Bangrak Bazaar is not really a restaurant. It best could be described a a food court. In number, there are about 15 street food stalls, offering mostly Thai cuisine. Also, at the river end is a stall that sells refreshments including cold "tallies"( 640mls) of Chang beer at 45baht incl. clear plastic glasses. This goes well at the meal table. That behind you, proceed to check out the food on offer. Most display photos of serves with English names - Pad Thai, Spaghetti with Drunken Sauce to name only 2, my favourites. Prices mostly @ 40bht; cheap. The stall owners seem to understand "Not too spicy" but not all. The ambience is not to write home about. Plastic chairs, no air conditioning (big electric fans strategically placed), but being located under the upper level car parking at Robinson's Store, it is out of the weather. A good spot to park your butt while your partner goes shopping in the adjacent market. Hours? Best when the market is open.Note, street food stalls are in the street along with the market.

I wish we had seen this earlier in our trip. This is the spot for awesome, inexpensive Thai street food from vendors that seem reliable and clean. This is a quick walk from Shangri-la hotel.

Bangkok has surpassed Singapore with high quality, clean street food. Bangkok Bazaar packs in the locals and some cautious foreigners into a small pocket (two streets, on a T intersection) a street back from the river. One waiter spoke English and was really helpful. Locals eat here and every time I went, it was packed. Be adventurous.

You can see that this food court is for local and working class people.
But strangely all food here is delicious.
Other place in thailand, we only can get Max 75% satisfaction of the food we order. But in this place, every decent food we order: fried rice, green curry, omelette rice have very acceptable taste.
Also low price, worth the money.

Went to the market for a look, and decided to stay for dinner. Great choice of cheap food, and beer from vendors. Places are cheap and cheerful, with great atmosphere, and mainly locals. Had a couple of beers and rice with seafood. Well worth a visit

If you are at the Saphan Taksin pier (right under the BTS station of the same name), to take a boat to one of your hotels, you most certainly will see the large Robinson Department Store and Mall. Along the left side of the store close to the BTS, you will see the Bangrak Baazar. A few years ago, there was nothing there, but now it is filled with small tent covered stalls and a food court. This is not considered the central shopping district, but rather a neighborhood area. So these people are locals trying to make a living, as opposed to Central whose family are multimillionaires, So it is nice to patronize and help locals. Of course, like other areas in Bangkok, people are happy to separate you from your money and sell you stuff that you do not want or need, but heck, people buy anyway. Just consider it helping locals and not multi national corporations. Food for sale is very cheap, so a quick lunch or snack is reasonable. These are locals so English is not widely spoken, but enough to get by.

Discovered the eating hall and all the street stalls when walking around the area near Saphan Taksin BTS station.
There are numerous places to get great tasty Thai food and cold Chang beer all for very low prices.
When we were here there were plenty of local people eating which is usually a sign of good food at reasonable prices.
Enjoy the atmosphere while your in Bangkok.
