We did a Bangkok temple tour and visit to bridge over the river Kwai. Pete was our tour guide and he is exceptional at what he does. He is very well known within the trade and if you’re with Pete you are a VIP. Kom was our driver and shuttled is to and from airport and our adventures! He is a great driver I would not want to drive there!

We saw the show with my family. There is nothing for a family here. But single men can enjoy a lot. They just lip sing and dance.

Guide was on time and spent time explaining the options and trying to understand just what I was interested in seeing. We then proceeded according to our plan and I was very pleased with his knowledge and approach. Excellent job by truly nice person who went out his way to meet my requests.

It wasn't really a long tail boat of the type one sees plying the waters of Thailand. The only thing it held in common with those was that it operates by automotive engine mounted in the stern. Technically, that makes it a long tail boat, but it is not what one was led to expect. And it did not undertake a cruise of Bangkok's narrow canals, as the promotional blurb says, it being too large to ply them (and there not being enough time in a two hour cruise to accommodate such a cruise). About that. The advertisement says that the cruise begins at 1:00, but the hotel pickup was not until 1:20, and there was another stop for more passengers. It actually didn't begin until 2:30, and ended about 4:15. The sound system was terrible, such that it was almost impossible to understand the guide. The rice barge was not as depicted in the advertising materials, admittedly simply a photo on the Travel Advisor page. The sound system was also so bad as to prohibit much comprehension of the guide. And I am accustomed to dealing with non-native English accents. So that wasn't the problem. A travel site, offering advice about the best things to do in Bangkok claims that the water taxi is a cheap alternative, albeit with more stops. We saw those while we were on the water. They were packed, many with standing room only. My advice is to arrange for a private cruise. It was good to see Bangkok from the river, but it would have been better to do it in comfort. Oh, and by the way, the category below "What sort of visit was this" gives a few options, none of which is relevant. We were a family group with adult children.
