Top ways to experience Bangkok Seashell Museum and similar attractions

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

During my trip to Bangkok in September 2019, I was staying at Novotel Bangkok Silom Road hotel and this museum is located right across the street on the opposite side. I visited the place with lot of enthusiasm but found out that the place has closed down.

Purchasing the tickets through Klook was quick and simple, and we spent about an hour at the museum, it's a nice way to spend a few hours out of the heat of the day!

Beautiful Shells.... In A Dreary Atmosphere
Oct 2017 • Couples
I can only give the Bangkok Shell Museum an average rating. The shells are very pretty, but the displays are in need of cleaning desperately.

For shell lovers
May 2017 • Solo
The Bangkok Seashell museum is located in the Silom area of Bangkok. It is a small museum with three floors.

The entrance fee is 150 Bahts (equivalent to just over GBP 3 - May 2017). I did not think that the entrance fee was worth it. Yes, there were lots of shells from various places, but it did not have the wow factor for me. But I guess that for shell lovers, it will be fascinating to see all the different shells collected - and the ticket price is worth it.

The museum is air conditioned. It was not busy when I visited. My visit lasted about 45 minutes.

Very very bland
Apr 2017 • Family
My daughter loves shells. So we popped into this museum. This would be fun only if you are a very big shell fanatic or connoisseur. Otherwise, it's very bland and quite boring. Lots of trays of shells. A lot of them similar to each other. Would not recommend it.

A nice way to spend 30 to 45 mins
Apr 2017 • Solo
If you are a fan of seashells, or nature in general, this museum will be worth the 150 baht entry fee. No doubt it is a small museum, but the variety of shells displayed is substantial. Shell exhibits are collected from all over the world. Great for lone travelers and family with kids. A nice way to spend half an hour or more in an air-conditioned attraction. It's not very popular here so it's comfortable to visit.
