Doing a Thai Cooking Classic in Bangkok is one of the Must Dos while in Bangkok and Sompong is a perfect place for it. The classes are between 8-10 people and everybody gets to cook on his own working station. We did the morning session with the market tour and it was interesting to hear about the different Thai vegetables,... More

I joined the Tuesday class with my mother (she's in her 60s) and my older brother (30s). The class, including the market tour, was really well thought out and well-organized. The timing of every activity and every break was spot on and was enough that my mother didn't feel too tired. Irin, who led our class was a great host... More

The class started with a tour of the market, before we returned to start preparing. The difference about Sompong and the rest of the schools is that the cooking is done in an air-conditioned room. This matters especially when you're in Bangkok! You don't want to be sweating while cooking. More so, the class had a smooth transition between dishes,... More

Went with a number of friends, all of whom had varying cooking interest/experience. Everyone absolutely loved this class. I personally learnt so much, and the recipes we cooked were fantastic. Great that you can do some parts in groups. Also appreciated getting the recipe book to keep so we can keep cooking these delicious recipes. For 1000THB it is 100%... More

Informative market tour, perfect group size (5-6 per table), awesome booklet and very good step-by-step explanations before and while cooking. Also, you can taste the instructor's example before you cook the food yourself. The portion you cook for yourself is huge, but you can take the leftovers home. We absolutely loved it there-thanks for a great day!

My boyfriend and I chose this company for a Thai cooking class after comparing many of the highly rated ones on trip advisor. We were so pleased with our choice! The trip to the market was awesome and answered so many questions we'd had about the produce we'd been seeing and Thai food in general. The class itself was fun,... More

This was a totally delightful experience from our meeting at the BTS station, to our trip to the market and throughout our class. Everything was so well-planned. Our teacher was so informative and had a great sense of humor. We learned a great deal and created some delicious dishes. The class is held in a very welcoming environment. I'd love... More

When in Bangkok and looking for a cooking class, Sompong Thai Cooking School is definitely a good adress. With the sky train it was easy accesible - Chong Nonsi, exit 3. The pick up by the cooking school staff was very efficient and well organised! Before the class started, we headed out to the near market to buy some ingredients.... More

Staying in Silom

Neighborhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
