I went to this shrine a couple of days ago. It looked very nice from the outside.
When I entered the shrine no other visitors were there just two people who worked there. I said very quietly hello, they did not reply and looked at me and my friend in a very unwelcoming way (yes we are not Chinese or Thai...).
I didn’t see the small sign that said no photo, so I took my phone and I was ready to take a couple of pictures when one of the two people there shouted rudely NO PHOTO! I said “sorry I didn’t see the sign” then I thought there was no need to shout, the place is small and quiet, there was no need to do it that way, it was too much, just very rude. I left straight away, I felt unwelcome since the first moment...
The shrine is Chinese so the rudeness of the people.

This shrine is in Thonburi on the West side of the river, about halfway between Memorial bridge and Wat Arun. It is possible to follow a footpath along the river all the way from the bridge to Santa Cruz church, the Keng shrine and Wat Arun. A great walk.

Kian Un Keng shrine is supervised by a local family (clan). It is a clean and serene traditional Chinese place of worship. Never saw any tourists here, though there is a jetty and perhaps sometimes small groups visit.

Note the wooden carvings above the entry. Very well done, though the whole place could need an overhaul.

Free admission.

A spellbinding jaunt along the river in Bangkok, with a must-visit visit to the Kian An Keng Shrine in the Portuguese Quarter. The harmony between local history and Portuguese influence creates a captivating atmosphere. Between the picturesque streets and peaceful views of the river, this place offers a unique cultural experience, to be fully savored
