I cant say I really enjoyed bangkok, but if you do your homework there is alot to do and see. We booked a tour through Hell Fire Tours on the net, excellent, did not pay till they picked us up. Did the floating markets, excellent definately recommend, just like a floating Coles with a restaurant thrown in, very amusing. River Kwai and Hell Fire Pass, simply amazing just to see what those poor guys went through I had no idea beautiful scenery. The tiger temple excellent got the best photos. Very long day but got to see alot, well worth it. Great web site. See the amazing underwater world in the middle of bangkok underneath siam paragon? amazing. Dreamworld was OK, nothing to write home about, but we checked it out. Traffic is shocking from approx 4pm onwards so get out of the city before then if you are staying outside the city.

I was collected from my Hotel by my Guide air at 06:30. It was a 3 ½ hr drive from Bangkok to the location of Hellfire pass. We stropped on route for a coffee & pastry. The journey was good in a very nice and comfortable upgraded minivan driven by Dom. Air communicated lots of info during the journey.
When we arrived at hellfire pass we unfortunately discovered the museum was closed due to upgrading work being carried out. Air collected the Audio guide for me and we set off on the 4K walk down the route of the railway. This was very good, it would be a challenge for the elderly and a reasonable leave of fitness would be required. A hat sunscreen & good walking shoes are recommended. The lunch I had in a restaurant adjacent the river was very good. We moved on to the kanchanaburi War grave cemetery & museum. It was very moving to see so many young men’s graves, the cemetery is immaculately kept.
This was a very good tour, not sure of Airs knowledge of the Railway & hellfire pass as all was communicated to me via the audio device.

I should start off by saying that we had an issue with the company when we got to bangkok. They required us to pre-pay for this tour via credit card before we left for our trip. We paid and had to request several times for a receipt from them. When we got to bangkok we even called the day before the tour to confirm our pick up time etc. And they told us we were all good to go. When they arrived early in the morning (5am) our driver said he was instructed to get payment from us for the tour. We explained we had already paid in full and so he had us get into the car. We eneded up driving for 30 mins only to be turned around and taken back to our hostel. The driver handed us his cell phone so we could talk to the owner/opertaor (Bruce) about the problem. He was extremely rude and called us liars saying we did not pay. Later that morning we re-emailed him copies of all the emails sent by the company to us as well as copy of our credit card statement to show proof that we paid $600+ for the tour. He then made a lame excuse and didnt even appologize for flat out calling us liars. After working in the travel industry myself I honestly was disgusted with how we were treated. I highly suggest printing off copies of your emails/receipts and credit card receipt to avoid any issues. They seem very disorganized on that end of things.

That being said we arranged to go the day after (luckily we were in bangkok for one more day) we decided to give the tour a chance and the tour itself was great and well worth the money! Our tour guide was awesome and literally was one of the main reasons for us having such a great time! He went above and beyond and the driver was also nice.

I would highly suggest asking for "Jackie" as your tour guide if you decide to do a tour with Hellfire. He was like a personal photographer for the day. He said he would take our camera and take all the pictures, he took so many wonderful pictures of us the entire day and made sure to get us some extra time with the tigers for better photos with no one else in them. I cannot say enough good things about how helpful and great he was. And for someone who loves photo's I could not have been happier to have so many! He also kept our personal items in his backpack that he carried with him at all times. he was trustworthy and honest which was nice and stayed with us the whole time. He explained the attractions and was always happy and seemed to really enjoy his job which was nice to be around. He also made sure to point out extra things as well.

The drive is long as they take you into another area from bangkok and it's a full day deal. brining a backpack with a change of clothes, swim suit, sunscreen, hat, water etc is needed. It can get dusty and hot and you may want to change or need to if you swim in Erwin falls or swim with the elephants. Lunch and snacks was provided and there was always a place to purchase water and items along the way if you wanted. NOTE: for the tiger temple you must be covered and dressed appropriate in respect to the monks. Women to have down to there knees and elbow covered. Men t-shirt and shorts to the knees seemed to be fine. It's very hot so something light to cover with I would suggest. After the temple you can change as well into whatever you choose.

We did a full day of activities and the tiger temple iteself was a half day starting in the morning. But truely an amazing experience. We also lucked out being able to go on a less busy day which allowed us more time to spend with the animals and an overall better experience. We also had a private car with driver and guide which was nice and unexpected. But I guess each tour is different due to what you choose to do.

We booked a trip with the company Hellfire Tours, www.hellfirepass.com, when we planning our trip to Bangkok. We pre-paid the trip in advance, and emailed the supposed owner, scheduling to see the Floating Markets, Tiger Temple and go on an elephant treck. To make a long story medium, we were constantly being forced to pay more money for items which we had pre-paid, and by the time we got to the elephant treck, we were told we had to pay even more for the elephant ride. Our group had already pre-paid for an hour-long elephant ride, and we asked to speak with the owner/manager over the phone. Upon calling the supposed owner, Tony, we were cursed out, and told we would be left for dead on the side of the road because of our non-compliance. We had proof of our confirmation email and tried to discuss what we pre-paid for, but no, nothing worked to get this Tony guy to reason. Our group of 3 women was absolutely terrified. We were 4 hours away from Bangkok in the middle of nowhere scared for our lives. We immediately started calling our families, and even called the Embassy and police in Bangkok to let them be aware of the situation. It wasn't until after we started calling all of these agencies that our group was transported back to Bangkok. If you have any regard for your life, you will not take this tour. It was the most terrifying experience I've ever had traveling.

This trip was booked for us via the internet prior to travelling to the Far East for a two week trip through Malaysia and Thailand. I just wish we had looked it up on Trip Advisor so that we would have been warned and stayed away. We also were threatened and verbally abused for no reason. I was terrified. We were promised an English speaking guide - this did not happen. We were driven round by a man who had no English at all and eventually he was joined by another man who had a tiny bit of English. We were really looking forward to this part of our holiday but what a nightmare experience. As darkness fell I was told - 'you pay us 10,000 Baht now or we drive you somewhere, middle of nowhere, and leave you' - I paid. We also were ringing friends to let them know what was happening as we feared for our safety.
Please please do not give this company your money - they are not trustworthy and it is dangerous. Thank goodness for Trip Advisor so that we can warn others - I just hope people look at this.

DO NOT under any circumstances book with this company. They are dodgy and irresponsible!
We booked a floating market tour with them on the 26th of December and received an email from Suzie Whey confirming pick up time the night before. The next day we got up early and spent 2 hours waiting for them in the lobby. They never showed. Didn't bother to ring or answer their phone when our hotel concierge called them numerous times. They didn't bother responding to my email either and it wasn't until they picked up their phone that afternoon that I was able to ask them, "what the hell????"
The man I spoke to, Bruce who had an Australian accent told me that he thought that we had cancelled. This was absurd as we had received an email confirming puck up. Despite it being their fault, Bruce felt it okay to be completely abrupt with me- verging upon rude. He offered to pick up up the next day however due to conflicting schedule we were unable to go and asked him via email 3 times to refund our money. It is now mid January and had Bruce or Suzie responded? No. Have they refunded our money? No. I am in the process of putting in a dispute with my bank and a complaint with the Bangkok Tourism Board. I will also contact Tourism Australia to lodge in a complaint about Hellfire. Companies and people like them give tour companies a bad name and should not be allowed to continue operating.

This is my first review on tripadvisor. I've used the site extensively as I am an avid traveler. When arranging my Southeast Asia trip, I was looking for an established tour company in the Bangkok area to handle my tour. Hellfire tours, indeed, operates under several different company names, but they all get you to the same place and people apparently. When I booked, I did so through their "thailandtourscenter.com" site. I was somewhat concerned because their reviews often presented such extremes. But I tend to plan far ahead and booked months in advance anyway. We opted for the Breakfast with the Monks package and tiger feeding with an addition of Elephant bathing for a full day experience.
Up until that point, I had communicated with Suzie Whey almost monthly for one reason or another (usually because I'm somewhat meticulous about my travel). Despite some of the earlier reviews, I found her to be perfectly pleasant in every communication and helpful on all accounts. The same can be said for the other rep with whom I communicated, Tony.
I had requested a certain guide that I had read about but he was unavailable so we were instead provided with Kai as our guide and Adun as our driver. Adun arrived a few minutes early, just before our 5am departure. He ackowledged that his English was not that developed but he spoke more than well enough to converse with us. In fact, he was extremely affable and a bit of a jokester which really set the tone for carefree sort of trip. An hour and half later we picked up our guide, Kai, on route to Tiger Temple. His English was excellent, he was consistently good-natured and extremely informative. At the temple, Kai carried our bags for us, served as our personal photographer and continued what can only be described as exemplary assistance and service.
When we got back to the car, Adun had some refreshing wipes waiting for us (we had just sweat profusely for hours while playing with tigers) and whisked us off to the elephant bathing. Adun even joined in the fun there and from that point we headed over to a surprisingly delicious lunch. We then headed over to the Bridge over the River Kwai for a bit before dropping off Kai and heading back to Bangkok.
I suspect that some of the negative reviews I've read are the result of people not reading the details of the trip and contracts carefully. We didn't have any problems whatsoever. In fact, it was probably the best organized tour I've ever participated in (and I usually can't stand organized tours). We were never made to feel rushed, we were never pressured to pay for anything more, they were always offering for us to stop if we needed a drink or a restroom, we moved at our own pace, I couldn't be more satisfied. So much so, it motivated me to join tripadvisor just to give this company its due. I have no idea what the other guides are like of course, but these 2 guys really helped to make this trip everything we had hoped.

THEY ARE A DISGRACE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I had simple questions regarding their pricing about taking a tour to the Tiger Temple, and the women couldn't even provide me with the time for complete sentences. She just copied and pasted information from their website, which was poorly designed and written.

Next, you are about to read a few responses I received at the end of our thread.

"Sorry you are difficult to deal with do not do the Tour find another vendor.

It’s obvious you are trying to turn all the option into a one price of 1850 Baht per person"

Next, I sent her an email in response to this, and she copied and pasted it back into a separate email responding to all of my comments:

Me: Honestly, I have no idea how this whole thing works. You are giving me one word answers and just copying and pasting your website to an email which I found myself. I have simply been asking for clarification, which clearly you couldn't provide me.

Respondent: Must be a American

Me: As a heads up, you just lost 12 customers.

Respondent: No worries we nearly run at over capacity everyday

Me: We would have paid to do the extra alternatives, but you have not been clear throughout this whole process. You are a poor example of how a company / business should be run.

Respondent: Honestly we don’t need any more business We don’t need the extra Business

If this is how they treat customers BEFORE they have paid, what do they do AFTER you have paid.

WORST. TOUR. AGENCY. OUT. THERE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We booked the Tiger Temple, Elephant Village, and Swimming with the Pink Dolphins for our vacation to Thailand. The first day was phenomenal. The tigers, elephants, monkeys along the way, the hotel on the River Quai, were all amazing. Our driver and tour guide were so friendly and professional. We got hundreds of terrific photos.

Then we tried to get to our second day’s tour to swim with the pink dolphins. Turns out the driver or more likely the tour planner back in the office mixed up our tour package and had us stay in the wrong hotel on the other side of the country. When the driver tried to get us to our destination, we got stuck in holiday traffic for six hours. Not cool for two adults but we had our six-year-old with us and she was extremely unhappy. When we finally arrived at the dolphin facility, they informed us that we had missed our appointment to swim with the dolphins and therefore we could not participate in that part of the tour. The dolphin show was disappointing to say the least. The driver called the office to explain the situation and then handed the phone to my husband. He spoke to the administrator who agreed to refund us the second day’s tour price.

When we returned home, we waited a full month before we started emailing the company to see why we hadn’t received our refund. After several failed attempts to get a response, someone from the office finally sent the following email message:

“Person who offered to make the refund no longer works for us and have no idea what this promised refund is about. Also please your Military Mates not to use our Company. Military personnel are always a pain in the butt. Thank you, Suzie Whey”

I couldn’t believe the unprofessionalism, the outright rudeness of a person supposedly in customer service. I would most definitely not recommend this tour company, although the first part of our tour was great and the driver and guide were both top notch.
