Spent a few hours outside the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoyed a bike tour through a conservation area. Elevated narrow paths which are not for the faint of heart especially when met mid curve with a scooter! We enjoyed coffee mid journey as well as a lunch at the end. My kids got to get in the ring and show off their boxing skills with the former champion. Fern and Be were great tour guides!

We had a great time on the Bangkok full day bike tour. We didn’t realise we were going to see so much. Our guide Bas was friendly, knowledgable and great to be around.
Great service and such a fun day. Thank you!

An amazing way to explore the City. Guide and staff are very nice, and the organisation is perfect. The bicycle are in very well maintained condition.
The route through Bangkok is interestingly prepared and about 80% of the route guides you through green and not packed areas...very convenient and nice conditions, even for non-professional cyclers ;)
Highly recommended activity and a slight different but very interesting way getting in touch with the people and another view from the town.
In between beverages are always available and a lunch is also organised and included...perfect!

Of course we hope to see you back on one of our mini-bicycle-fun-adventures. With warm regards, Andre Breuer

Unfortunately it was raining hard when the tour was about to take place. We didn’t want to travel a long way to get to the group tour if it was canceled. We tried the number (not trip advisors) but the individual never responded. It did not say if it was “rain or shine” tour.

Dear 986todde, Thanks for making time for leaving a review. Rain or shine, our tours will always proceed. If it rains we shelter and in the worst case we provide our guests with poncho's. Fortunately raining in Bangkok last in most cases only 30 minutes or so and it actually quit "refreshing". If guests decides not to go because of the weather-conditions, it's fully up to them. Hope you had a great time in Thailand and perhaps you can try again next time because is worthwhile. Kind regards,

We were looking forward to this tour as the majority of reviews are very positive. However, it was not as we expected.

First, the bicycles were not in stellar condition - one could tell they had been ridden extensively without enough servicing. Mine sounded as if the gears would strip after the first two miles. Second, the beginning and ending of the ride are alongside HEAVY automobile traffic. A bit unnerving for those who don't regularly ride bikes. Third, in the park across the river, much of the riding is on 3-foot wide catwalks with 5-6 feet drops into the drink on either side. At the beginning of the ride the guide said that if we needed to get off and push for a bit, just let him know and he would walk alongside. However, he was over 1/4 mile ahead of us tearing down the path at breakneck speed without caring about our progress. Perhaps two guides (one in front and one in back) would be more appropriate.

Finally, the guide was a bit of a cheapskate and unorganized. Water was only provided twice (plus a beverage with the meal), but available more often at one's own expense. The guide also tried to talk the group out of the meal seemingly so he could pocket the money. He also did not coordinate the return boat ride which caused us to wait needlessly for over 15 minutes at the landing.

The excursion is about five hours long which is too long in the heat of the afternoon. Perhaps we would have enjoyed it more had we ridden in the morning.

We did enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighborhoods once off the major thoroughfares, and the green space across the river was beautiful. The delivery of the tour was just unpolished and we felt unsafe (due to traffic and lack of a visible guide) at times.

Dear John, Firstly I would like to thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback. It's a pity that you are unhappy about your experience with our Colors of Bangkok tour and that the excursion did not meet your expectations. I am sorry to read that your bicycle apparently wasn't in a proper condition. We will pay closer attention to ensure that all bicycles are well maintained by our maintenance department. To be honest, John, the title of your review is misleading. Only during the first 10 minutes and last 5 minutes of the tour we encounter some more traffic, since we have to get away and get back to our office which is located in the city. However, most of the time we cycle through small communities, quiet backroads and on elevated, traffic-free pathways of at least 1,5 meter wide in the 'Green Lung' of Bangkok. Your comments about our guide ('cheapskate' and 'unorganized’) surprise me, because on the evaluation form you filled in directly after the tour you rated all the aspects of the guide as 'excellent' and rated him with 4 out of 5 stars without any comments. Our guide Ben always offers the participants a choice: stop at a local restaurant for a small meal OR stop at a coffee shop for an ice coffee & small snack, so it's not really fair to accuse him of pocketing the money; that's certainly not true. Furthermore, I reviewed the tour with Ben on the same day and he told me that you only had to wait 5 minutes for the boat (which is quite different from 'over 15 minutes' as you mention). The duration of the tour is indeed 4-5 hours which is clearly mentioned in the tour description on our website. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and the great tropical weather in Thailand! With warm regards, Dave Numan RBB Team

The guide was great but nothing else lived up to the hype. It was dangerous riding against city traffic, had to ask twice for helmets, which had to be fixed with a staple gun! The base of operations is City Center and is risky at best to get into the short but enjoyable countryside. The operation should be moved a rural location. Not sure the local residents in the shanty towns appreciated a tour group riding through their front yards, nursery school and kick boxing were not available to view as advertised. Lunch, long boat and floating market were enjoyable but then the ride back through the city in the afternoon was hairy for Moms and kids. Nothing about the trip was safe. DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS ON THIS TRIP!

Two years ago we did the halfday tour, which was great. Yesterday we did the whole tour, but that is not your money worth. It is only 2 hours longer and you pay double the half day tour !!!
The tour is interesting, but almost the same as the halfday and to do not follow the program written on their site. No mushroom, no sojabeans, no bamboo no coffee...Partialy because of the season, but you visit the same number of attraction in the half day tour as in the whole day tour.
A bit disappointing.

Dear Zizou123, Thanks so much for your review. At first I thought your review was wrongly posted on our Trip-advisor site because mentioning "Mushroom, Sojabeans, Bamboo and Coffee" I thought you did our Chiang mai full day trip. In Bangkok we don't offer any of the above sights. Therefor I think you've created a wrong expectation of our trip. Our full-day trip, Bangkok Paradise, is as described on our website and takes about 8 hours. Our Colors of Bangkok weekend edition last about 6 hours and is similar as the regular Colors of Bangkok excursion, but has as extra a Rickshaw Ride and visit a local floating market. I think you did the last one. Please let me know if I'm not correct because we trust our guides to do what customers bought. Thanks & regards, Andre Breuer

I cannot believe that I was convinced to try this based on a litany of positive reviews! 3-out-of-8 people on my tour were injured - including myself; sprained thumb, badly smashed up legs (*see unaltered photo) and ripped shorts/gouged thighs from a piece of metal jutting out from my bike seat! Part of the route is in traffic - you are dodging cars and motorbikes and tuk tuks. Then you drive through a slum with open sewage, putrefaction and emaciated dogs and children randomly jumping into your path; on THE WORST road you can imagine - holes in pavement, over huge tracks and through mud and water that is absolutely disgusting. I fell onto train tracks when my front tire lodged in the muck - I could have been very seriously injured! The green area involves riding on a elevated path that is VERY narrow - with green slime-covered water on one side and barbed wire on the other - heaven help you if you fall here! There was not enough cold water for our group at 2 of the stops and even feeding the fish can be dangerous as they literally jump out of the water - my husband got bit. Our guide was so far ahead in some cases that we couldn't see him and when my bike saddle cut my thigh and shorts open, he just nonchalantly swapped it out. I would NEVER EVER do this again or reccomend it to anyone else. I know my review will be lost among the positive ones and I can't imagine who's writing them but at least I did my part to try and warn others off.

Dear eightfold, Thanks you so much for leaving a review. Although not the best one, we're open for criticism and comments and will always try to do better. We do understand understand that traffic can scare some people. That's our main reason we are avoiding main roads and cycle through alleys and back-street doors. Most people love this but obviously not you. The other side of the river we cycle on concrete pathways "floating" 1,5 meter above the ground in a jungle like area. Most of these pathways have a fence on one side. You do can fall down if you are not paying attention. But here again, people love this part. Obviously this tour wasn't for you, and I feel sorry about it. Perhaps it would have been better for you if you would have done our walking and rickshaw tour. Something you could consider next time when visiting Bangkok. I'm sure you will enjoy that better. We're keeping track of bicycles used and I just checked all female bicycles used on that day of the tour and checked the seats. 3 of them have a new seat (changed 3 months ago) so that must have been something else. We are operating this tour for 15 years and never had a serious accident. Besides a scratch or a bruise. That would have been different if the tour is as dangerous as you describe. Oh, the park we're visiting and feed the fish like roach, carp and similar no-one and I mean no-one ever, ever got bitten. Anyhow, I hope you had great stay in Thailand and will have beautiful memories that will stay with you for ever. Kind regards, Andre Breuer

I think the name should be changed to Extreme Bangkok Biking. On the main webpage it states, "As the tour was developed by Recreational Bangkok Biking Ltd., recreation combined with the highest levels of safety standards, remain our top priorities." I do not think whoever wrote this took the tour. If they did they would find numerous dangers. Many people have given this tour a high rating, which is why my friend and I booked it. Our tour was on February 12, 2013.

The first issue seems to be that Soi 71 is a hard to find place. We left in plenty of time (7am for an 8am tour) from Rambuttri Road, but our taxi driver could not find it (even with the map printout from the website) and had to ask three times for directions. We were an hour late and amazingly they were still waiting for us. There were two girls from Switzerland also on the tour. They said taxi drivers refused to take them there because it was too hard to find. They ended up having to take public transport to as close as possible and then they were able to get a tuk-tuk to take them the rest of the way.

I spent most of my time on this tour concentrating on not wiping out. The alleyways in the slums are just too narrow for safe biking and there are a number of holes in the concrete. You are better off walking your bike through these areas. My friend crashed a couple of times and ended up with a nice sized cut on his right elbow and a big bruise on his left forearm. Biking the raised platforms above the water is not safe either since most of them do not have guardrails. I thought I was going to get through the tour unscathed, but on a sharp L shaped turn on the platforms I had to jump off my bike as it headed for the water. I had to slow down too much and when I turned I did not have enough speed and gravity took over. I grabbed a signpost to prevent a bath and my left leg went into the water above my sock. The bike was wedged on the signpost and did not go into the water. However, my left foot was soaked and covered in mud. I was able to finish the tour, but had to pitch my sneakers for a new pair when I got back to the hotel.

It also says on the webpage that 95% of the tour is not around traffic. However, it sure felt that we spent a fair amount of time on the busy Bangkok roads. This tour would be great for The Amazing Race.

Now I did enjoy the boat rides and you do see an area of Bangkok most tourists would not see. I liked feeding the fish at the park. The lunch at the end of the tour was also good. However, this is no casual European bike ride. I was totally exhausted at the end. It felt more like an extreme adventure and I was glad it was over. I should mention that I own a mountain bike. At least I had an interesting story to tell after all this.

If you live life on the edge you will probably love this tour. If you are looking for a casual bike ride to see some sights this is not the tour for you.

Dear Weaver, Thanks so much for your review we will take all points/suggestion into consideration. Concerning taxi drivers, we can't do anything about it. Some of them aren't able to read/write. Kaosarn Road is about 8-9 KM away from our office. Depending what route the driver takes and traffic-jams it will take about one hour to get to our office. We also offer transfers from and to your hotel. This however is expensive compared with cheap taxi's in Bangkok. Than again there are more than 70,000 taxi in Bangkok and most of them have reasonable knowledge of Bangkok's main-streets and how to get there. I thing you're just not lucky. I'm sorry to read you foot ended up into the water because of a miscalculation. Indeed a part of the routing goes on elevated pathway, about 1 meter wide and 1,5 meter above the ground/water. At the moment we're working on updating our website and will change the description of our tour a bit. As you can see of the reviews here, most of the participants really enjoyed the ride. For your information, we developed a new tour, easier to do and not on elevated pathways but full of other surprises. (Bangkok City Culture Ride) Perhaps you can try this next time when visiting Bangkok or Rickshaw & hike the Colors of Bangkok where we visit the park and green jungle you've been on the bicycle but this time we walk and use rickshaws. With warm regards, Andre Breuer

Well, since this trip started in the slums, it made us very uncomfortable to know that we didn't even stop at these people to support their local economy, we had to keep going on not to slow down the group. The tour lead us through the laid back and colourful parts of Bangkok, which was lovely.
After a short boatride we were brought to the 'lung'of the city, very calm and relaxing, the bike path was quite narrow, so eyes on the road in order not to fall, for non experienced bike riders there is a point, since if you have to watch te road and be careful, you miss some of the sights, since the tourleader is carrying on like there's no tomorrow.
After the tour, which we liked, all over, we returned to the HQ and saw the owner, with whom we have been in contact via email more than once, unfortunately he didn't even come over to ask us what we thought of his tour, to us this was an arrogant attitude, it felt like that anyway.
So, to resume, the tour was very nice at some points, the tourguide was very nice too, for the rest it didn't give a professional idea, being enthousiastic can be a trigger to a better review....

Dear mrWisk, Thanks so much for your review! Happy to read you enjoyed the ride. I don't know of an excuse I didn't talk personally or said hello/goodbye to you and am sorry for that. Probably it was one of these days my head was "running over" and my thoughts were somewhere else. Many customers approach me after the tour for advise about Bangkok and I always make time for them. Hope to see you back on one of our bicycle adventures. Andre Breuer
