Top ways to experience Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighborhood: Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.

I went to visit the Queen Sikrit convention center for a trade show. The show was very well organized with good signage and easy registration. Perfect location for smaller shows as it is basically downtown vs having to trek to Bitec, which is a bit of a commute. While, being at the show and it is time for lunch there are several options to cure your appetite.

I read a review that the food court was great and worth a visit for some shopping. I went when there was no event at the centre. It was generally deserted; short of office workers hitting the food court at lunch time. The food court only accepted cashless payment and did not have the store value card like others. The food seemed mediocre and was more pricey than others. I will not go back again.

Easily accessible on the metro line, this place provides a good respite from the city hustle and bustle. There is a large lake with a walking track and plenty of shady spots. Also, a gold statue of hands in prayer position, From there, it's easy to continue on the metror to Silom Road or Sukhumvit.

First of its kind in Bangkok, and still used for various exhibitions throughout the year. Its commonly referred to as QSNCC, and was named after HRH the Queen of Thailand. Much larger facilities such as Banga and Muang Thong Thani both on the edges of Bangkok have since been built, as the space, and parking available at QSNCC was insufficient.

Not really give you a "royal feeling". An old convention centre. Not renovated loooong time. Smells like in an old museum, dark, dirty old carpets on the floor. A shame for Bangkok to have convention centre like that.

For years, Bangkok tourism industry had been seeking for a national convention center in order to bid for various international conventions. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center was finally been approved and constructed. There were numerous world conventions that chosen Bangkok because of QSNCC. Eventually other world class convention and exhibition centers were built in Bangkok but without the pilot project of QSNCC there is doubt whether the other will come into existence.

There really is no reason to go to QSNCC unless you are in Bangkok to attend a convention, meeting or trade show that is being held there. I regularly attend the travel fairs and the best feature of the Convention Center is the location. On the MRT subway line, you can exit and walk right into the center. There is a large food court, Black Canyon Restaurant, Starbucks, and a True Coffee Shop. In addition there is a large banquet room that serves buffet style meals, open to the public. For open shows, like the travel fair, gift fair, etc, it is very very crowded and booths are set up close to one another, so be prepared for that.
