About
The Courageous Kitchen is an experience that takes you shopping in a local market before teaching you to prepare your favorite Thai dishes. We'll start the day in the market, nab a few street snacks, and then begin creating the menu you help select. Classes are purposely small and intimate, and the best part is proceeds from classes go toward a great cause!

Of course learning to prepare our own Thai meal was a great education and experience. What was most impressive is the mission. Watching Dwight gently guide his student "chef" explain and teach was something that only comes from the heart. We selected this experience as an offering from our Holland America cruise. It is clear that CK provides these refugee young people with the professional skills to compete in the employment market. The goal is a job with dignity and the food is almost secondary.

We are a family of four with two girls, 11 and 8 years old lucky enough to be travelling the world for several months. Went to this Thai cooking class as we saw their charitable work.
Had an absolutly fabulous time preparing and cooking our own food, the kids were allowed to learn and do their own cooking to with their own host. The menu was authentic and different Thai food. Learnt so much about food and the work of Courageous Kitchen. Cannot recommend highly enough!

My friend enrolled us in a class as a gift. We had to take a cab from Khlong San area to get to where it is, but it was worth it. Our group met our instructor near the market, we all went there to buy our ingredients and taste some delicious street food, before we went to the Courageous Kitchen house to cook. Very good teacher, I managed to make delicious dishes (so proud!), spend time with new and old friends, and help out Courageous Kitchen's cause! Keep up the good work!

We had the pleasure of joining Dwight and Panesha on their Thai Street Food Tour on Christmas Day and it was simply amazing!
Especially in Bangkok, there is an abundance of offered food tours available but if you've been around Asia and Bangkok a lot, they really are all kind of the same with similar stops and more standard things to try.
But with Dwight it was a lot more personal and authentic and we had the chance to try things we had not had the pleasure of trying before.
Their picked stops were delicious and traditional and we totally enjoyed everything, from the curries to the different kinds of Thai whiskey to the most amazing fish at the end!
If you have special requests or some things you really want to try, just ask Dwight beforehand and he will be happy to pick out special stops for you to make your tour a really unique and unforgettable experience!
Thank you both for the great day, it really felt a lot more like spending an afternoon with friends than something "officially booked" in advance.
We'll surely book another tour the next time we're back in Bangkok :)

Had a private tour through the markets before joining several others to put it all together into a couple of tasty dishes. Can't wait to get home to put what I learned into practice. But what the Courageous Kitchen does to help refugees was the most important lesson.

Dwight and Panisha, along with Alina, Lilly, and Bella, were all fantastic hosts. There's not a single thing I could write here that would do justice to the incredible time we had at Courageous Kitchen. Dwight led us on a delicious street food tour around the neighborhood where we got to experience delicious food as well as the amazing people who prepared it. We also took the kids cooking class led by Alina with our two young boys, and they absolutely loved cooking, and actually ate the food when they were done! To cap it all off, the money we spent on the tour and cooking class go to support all the work Dwight and his crew do with local refugees. If you're in Bangkok and want to experience amazing street food, educational cooking classes, AND you want to support a great cause, you have to visit The Courageous Kitchen.

Since returning from Thailand I have told everyone about this fantastic class (and have even suggested it to others visiting Bangkok). Everyone was so friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and helpful! I learned how to make my favourite vegetarian Thai dishes.

I was so excited when they said they could teach me how to make vegan versions of their dishes. The class was excellent! Had me feeling like I could actually go back home and cook something. And I'm not a great chef on my own. But the menu was amazing and stuff I could actually do myself thanks to the lesson. The food was soooo gooood.
I like how I actually got to go shopping in the local market to get the ingredients too. I found the shopping excursion to be very educational and an intriguing glimpse into Thai culture. Highly recommend for my fellow vegans out there looking for a fun Thai cooking experience!

Courageous kitchen's street food tour was a delight. The tour is robust and well thoughtout. Dwight & Lily both were warm and knowledgeable. They seemed to have a respectful, warm relationship with the vendors. The group size was great at seven. The bowls and utensils they brought along were a great addition that let us have the portion size we wanted and lessened environmental impact. We ate and drank many delicious things, many of which I would have missed without them. It also allowed us to have a more intimate connection to Bangkok than I could have gained on my own.I highly recommend Courageous Kitchen's food tour.

I would like to ask if you offer half day (afternoon classes) on learning some thai dishes? IF so.... I would like to know how uch, and what dishes are these? I wanted to take classes on June 5, Tuesday. Lastly, I wanted to ask if your class is standing or sitting? Im 6 months pregnant and just wanted to see if its conducive and easy haha!

We're more than happy to accomodate as needed. We visit the market in the mornings, but the afternoon classes usually center less around the markets, and more around getting kids or families to cook together.
We do heartier than normal version of Thai favorites like tom yum, pad thai, mango and sticky rice, ect. We try to mix the dishes up to keep it exciting for guests, and we have a noodle making class, as well as a custom cooking class where you can set the menu.
