Neighborhood: Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.

I went by train on a Sunday afternoon, to see a movie, that had only one showing. I had about 15 minutes before the show was to start...as only one employee was available to sell me a ticket, because of automation, and three women hand her attention with some phone app. problem, so ten minutes went by. I went to the counter to ask another male worker if he could help me, as the movie was about to start...he was more interested in playing on his phone, and said just a moment, just a moment, and returned to his gaming or social media. I then asked to see a manager, but there was none.

So long story short, I left without seeing my movie and will never return. as a side note, I have spent a fortune in this theater over the last 8 years or so.

I will try to inform the management that they should restrict their workers from using the telephone while on duty. The phone addiction is out of control, and when it effects customers, it truly becomes problematic.

Anyway, Major cineplex has better staff, and I will be giving them my business from now on.

This multiplex cinema is situated within a wonderful mix of shops, supermarkets and a vast array of food outlets. I was impressed with the sound and picture quality and the seats were extremely comfortable. The interior decor resembles those English Theatres of the 60s. Well worth a visit combining with shopping and eating.

Typical multiplex - large, clean, automated ticket sales, and set within a shopping mall on the top floor. The lobby of the cinema isn’t the prettiest nor is it distinctive in any way, but the sound inside the screens projects well and the variety and rotation of films is reasonable and interesting. What I do need to say is this: you won’t have the back of your seat kicked by a fidgety schizophrenic, unless you’re seated in front of a tardy ฝรั่ง. What a relief, and it makes for a so much more enjoyable film watching experience.

Fairly big and well maintained cinema theatre offering up to date movies from pretty much all over the world with emphasis on Hollywood and local hits. Very comfortable seats and sound system in all theaters. Prices are very good, especially for single seats (bit more for couples). Tickets can he bought online in SF app or at the vending machines.

Given that Bangkok now has some of the most luxurious and advanced concepts in Cinema (e.g. Cineprive, Embassy Central Screens), visiting SF Cinema City @ Terminal 21 was perfectly fine, but nothing special. Compared, say, to large multi screen cinema chains in the USA it's only slightly above average - and that's due mostly the comfort of the seats. Don't get me wrong, this cinema is absolutely and perfectly fine. It's just that in a city which is world leading in some of its cinema concepts, it just feels very ordinary to visit a cinema such as this. That said, the cost of a ticket is far less expensive than the more luxurious options. And that's not a factor to be readily dismissed. That said, if you can splurge a bit, and really want an exceptional experience to view a particular film, there are superior options nearby.

The location of the cinema was very convenience and it had some electric games outside for the kid at low price to play with. This was the first time I watched movie in Thailand. I seated on time to see the movie at 10:00pm but need to spend about 30mins to watch preview films. The seat was comfortable and the sound system was on average.

We had a free night before travelling. The entire cinema is showing the Avengers on all screen the all day. So funny to see 8 screens of it. Great for us. Good buzz and nice to go as next door to our hotel. So easy. Great sound. Screen. A bit cold as AC is full and glad we had a top.

It's a nice clean theatre, but the seats lean back too much, and there is no way of having any proper lower back support unless you do not lean back at all, which is impossible to do in a two-hour movie. I hated the seats so much I gave up on watching my movie before the movie even started. I came back the next day and selected the one of the couple couches in the back row which was better, but not particularly comfortable either.

This next tip probably applies to all theatres in BKK - note that movies DO NOT start on time. Outside the screening hall there is usually some wording below each movie poster that tells you how many minutes of trailers and commercials before the movie starts. Mine said 24 minutes, but the movie only started 30 mins after the time on the ticket stub.

I like this cinema. Good quality experience. Good seating. Rarely crowded. Good choice of snacks. Pricing good (by U.K. standards). Easy to get to, by BTS or driving. Air conditioning can be a little on the cool side sometimes but usually comfortable. All the films I saw were in original English (where relevant) with (so I am told, good Thai subtitles). I must have used this close to two dozen times over a 3 month period. Recommended.
