The area
Address
Neighborhood: Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
How to get there

This massage shop named Lavana is my No.1 favorite place in Bangkok. For all over the area, you can smell the flowers used in flower ball for massage. I normally order two-hour foot massage with 700 Baht (less than 20Euro) and I always fall asleep during massage. The massages here always give the good balance between comfortable and a bit pain is very important. Highly recommended.

I had a facial here for 1100B. It was a very relaxing facial mixed in with some heavy duty Thai karate that cracked placed I didn't know could crack. Overall very satisfied and would totally visit again if the chance arises. I booked for 1 hour, and would've wanted book another afterwards but they were full, so I would suggest booking for 2+ hours if you had the time and wanted to make the most of the experience.

Must try 4-hand massage! It is really the best massage experience I have ever had! There is a hot pat placed around my neck, very very comfy! There is a promotion to have a free 20-min foot massage for all 2 hours massage bookings before 8pm.

We anticipated being a little late for our massage appointment - a minister and his entourage was leaving our hotel so the roads were blocked for about 15 minutes. We thus asked our hotel concierge to call Lavana to let them know, and to hold our reservation for us, while we were on our way in a taxi.

Upon arrival at Lavana, we were told by the receptionist that they have given our massage appointment to someone else. We asked if they were informed by our hotel concierge that we were already on our way - the receptionist said yes, they knew we were on the way but they gave the appointment to walk in customers as they arrived before we did.

The receptionist said she could not find other therapists for us.

To make matters worse, we saw 2 therapists sitting around and chatting near the restrooms.

This atrocious service attitude is very atypical of the usual friendly Thai hospitality. We are appalled, having traveled all the way to the spa, that they would send us away even when we had an appointment and have called to reconfirm and inform of us being a little late.

Terribly disappointed.

Last night (around 10:45pm), a friend and I visited Lavana Spa for an oil head massage. the cost of the massage was 1550 baht each.

In my 3 years of living in Bangkok, 2 for my friend, I have never experienced such a poor massage and horrible experience. I am writing this review so potential customers, the owner and management are fully aware of how the business treated us last night.

First of all, whatever it was that we experienced should not be described as a massage. it should be described as 25% massage and 75% warm oil mixed too much with water being poured on my forehead. The "massage" itself was poor and I felt as if my being there was a burden fkr the "masseuse" - she didn't seem to care whether it was too hard or too soft, and she rushed certain movements that could cause injury. Moreover, whatever "massage" took place was focused on my body and neck. I had asked for a head massage. At most, half of the 25% of massage time was spent on our head. There was almost no head massage. In addition, while the oil was being poured on my forehead (75% of the time) it seemed that the "masseuse" would use the opportunity to check her phone and do other things.

There is a reason I use proportions above and not real time. What was equally disappointing was that although we paid for one hour of massage, we received much less. The "massage" proper began at 11:05pm and my friend and I were out of the shop at 11:50pm. that time includes around 10 minutes of showering and getting changed back into clothes. In the end we paid for between 35 to 40 minutes.

I understand that your shop closes at midnight, so one must assume that the "masseuses" were more interested in finishing so they could go home. If this is the case, I suggest Lavana does not accept bookings or customers after 11pm.

The overall experience could be described as 2 out of 10 at most. In Bangkok, 1550 baht is considered expensive for a massage, so we were expecting a high quality massage and excellent customer service. We received the exact opposite.

I went to a few places for Thai massage, and this one was hands down, the best. It's a few blocks from the Sheraton, where we're staying.

I got a Thai massage, and my wife got a foot massage. She was also pleased. If we were here another day, she'd go back for a Thai.

After visiting Urban Retreat and King and I, we were most pleased here. Great actual massages with very attentive therapists, but also a nice facility. I think the price was 50B higher (450 v 400) but easily worth it.

Also, frankly, it's on a nice tree-lined street which is a bit of a break from the madness.

Very bad experience.

I took my family(6 persons) to Lavana to try the Thai massage. However, during the massage, my father got the fracture rib. I took my father to hospital to take X-Ray and got some painkiller. The total medical fee was 5166 THB.

I went to Lavana again after sending my father to hotel. I wanted to discuss the compensation. It was about 11:30 PM. They just had one receptionist. She told me she can't make any dicision and needed to ask her director to make the dicision. I left my name and email. Since my plane was the next day. We left Thailand and came back to China.

Lavana sent email to me and said to gave me half of the medical fee, 2600THB, as the compensation.
What I requested was
1. All the medical fee , 5166THB
2. Taxi fee 140THB, 70 THB to the hospital and 70 for return.
3. Unfinished massage fee for two persons, 275 + 275 = 550THB. Each person was charged for 550 THB for the massage. We had half of it, so one person was 275.
4. Compensation for 15 days, each day was 200THB. It was 3000 THB. Actually, my father will get pain at least 2-4 weeeks.

Then Lavana replied my email and said they would give me half of medical fee 2600THB and two person's massage fee 1100THB.

What I dissatisfied most is the attitude of Lavana. My father got fracture rib and we spent the medical fee. Now it was about 10 days. My father still suffered the great pain. I think Lavana should pay for it. But they just said my father and I had responsibility.

I have sent compaint to Tourism Authority of Thailand. Wait for the response and judgment.

Love this place. Everyone was very helpful. We opted for the 90 min oil massage. They mixed in a little Thai massage as well. One of the best I have ever had. Only $27USD each.

My wife and I are massage addicts. During the past few years we have had some sensational massages in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Lavana used to be our Bangkok favourite and I have always requested the same masseuse. This visit we chose a 2 hour aromatherapy massage and left disappointed. Particularly in the last half hour the masseuses chatted and joked with each other. We have no idea what they were saying but considered it rude and unprofessional.

I think my masseuse must have got tired as she spent at least 15 minutes massaging my shins, which they should realise don’t have much muscle and massaging these bones, if you don’t have an injury there, is just a complete waste of time.

We used to consider Thailand as the best place for a massage but places we have discovered in Vietnam and Cambodia were 10 times as good and half the price (see our other reviews).

The place itself is good and drinks before and after the massage are enjoyable too. A couple of the front desk ladies are also very good. We might give it another chance on our next visit to Bangkok in a few months time but will change our masseuses.

You can get a massage on every street in Bangkok, but Lavana offers a wide range of massages (scrub, Thai, (aroma) oil, facial) in an almost clinically clean athmosphere by experienced masseuses. It is advisable to make a reservation, although I could get one without. Over the years, I have been here almost ten times. Before the massage, you are offered a cup of tea, and your feet are washed. After the massage another cup of tea in the room, and a cup small frozen yoghurt (?) in the lobby. Once I had a Thai massage, which I didn't like so much, because that can be somewhat painfull. My wife and I had a "duo massage" in one room, and a four hands massage is also on the list.
