I spend some nights in Bangkok looking for fun with my friends. I tried all the stupid touristy stuff, Soi Cowboy, Soi 21-23, Patpong and I was wondering if there were any decent place to have fun without sex seeking lots. At last I found RCA. There are some nice, good looking night clubs, cafes, bars and there are usually filled with locals. I also tried the carting and it was fun. Totally worth visiting and spend a night.

Spend a good time in RCA at night. Specialy on weekend. Should take a taxi to go there. Best night clubs and bars in there if you tired of patpong and sukhumvit and soi cowboy ....

mostly catered to younger crowd. Loud music, etc. If you're over 40, you'll feel out of place. But for the younger crowd, they love it.

So we are visited RCA, because if you research on internet, you can find RCA as one of the largest party street in Bangkok. We found 2 huge clubs, which could be nice if you have couple of cocktails but nothing else. Maximum 2 bars, 3 restaurants and 1 tattoo studio. I know that's more than nothing and if you just going to clubbing is good but if you planning to have some drinks and clubbing than go somewhere else because you don't really have so much choices there. Then go to Sukhumvit and you not going to disappoint yourself.

No creepy sex tourists, no Falang behaving like jackasses, few backpackers, just normal local party people. Great for partying and making new friends. Definitely the best place I saw on my trip to Bangkok.

RCA is designed for the younger crowd. I would not venture there if you are over the age of 25 to be honest there are so many teenage kids running around it makes you feel like your back in high school. The music is way to loud and the good luck on getting out of the area when the clubs close. The traffic is terrible. Also at a few of the better known clubs there is a foreigner surcharge that is redeemable for a drink which makes no sense. I have lived in Bangkok a number of years and have been to RCA less then a handful of times because there are better places to go period.

When I was younger, I sometimes went to Royal City Avenue, or RCA for short, to check out the action. A decade ago, it was a sort of no-holds-barred area where the hip crowd hung out in trendy pubs, discos and bars. Drinking and dancing seemed to be the orders of the day. It continues to be a "clean" road devoid of sex shows and other lurid activities and still has some pretty good live bands playing rock, pop and techno tunes.
Nowadays I visit RCA during daytime to try some really decent restaurants that sell everything from Muslim food to delicious noodles. It also has Bangkok's only arthouse cinema RCA which shows some excellent indie and non-mainstream titles.

Nightlife at RCA sucks but hidden in a derelict shopping centre (where Tops and Fuji are) is BKK's best art-house cinema (the other being Apex Siam) with only two theatres screening indie movies both Thai and foreign (award winners like Sweden's Let the Right One In and Iran's A Separation included) as well as the occasional blockbuster hit. Believe it or not, this is where I have seen feature films from Brazil, Turkey, Spain, Germany and even Iceland. However, due to limited demand for limited releases, they are now replaced by Thai documentaries, Asian dramas or top box office titles, not to mention that sometimes the boutique cinema is closed for events. To avoid any disappointment, it's best to check "House Rama RCA" Facebook page in advance.

One of the most existing things to do in Bangkok is the late night clubbing scene at RCA. The mega clubs at RCA like Slim, Route 66 and Habb would definitely put the other clubbing scenes to shame. All the clubs have their designated areas for Hip Hop, Trance and Live Music. Being a Hip Hop music lover, I went straight to my favourite club Route 66 where the Hip Hop music is the loudest. With merely 1,750BHT, I could opened a big bottle of Black Label whisky and danced til my heels came off! Cheers to Bangkok's fabulous night clubs!
You can also hop from one club to another. No cover charges apply but do bring along your passport or a photo identification card as the admission is quite strict. Fairly young crowd, mainly university students & some tourists coming out for a fun night & to chill.

I used to live near RCA Area, so every weekend I normally hang out around that area. We normally start the night with light drinking in Paul Panich, and as time goes by go to the clubs like Route 66 or Onyx.
