The area
Address
Gateway Ekamai, Bangkok 10110 Thailand
Neighborhood: Thong Lor & Ekamai
Known as Bangkok’s hippest neighbourhood, Thong Lor and Ekamai is where the city's well-dressed and well-heeled spend their nights sipping cocktails in hidden speakeasies and posh restaurants. Live it up in one of Thong Lor's extravagant clubs and be prepared to brush shoulders with a Thai celebrity or two. While great for a night out, the area is nothing short of interesting during the daytime, either. Expect a mix of savvy coffee shops, pop-up bars and loads of vintage stores, brought to you by hip locals with eyes for design.

A GEM of a market right off the BTS
Feb 2019
Every two weeks this tiny gem of a market opens at the Ekkamai Gateway BTS stop. Just go. It's great.

Food poisoning!!
Nov 2018
We visited the farmers market and had a bratwurst sausage in a roll, some 6 hrs later i was violently ill and ended up sick for a few days
Now the reason I know it was the sausage was it was the only thing I ate!

Getting better and better
Sep 2018 • Couples
I keep going to the Farmer's market as much as I can to get my fix of wonderful french bakery products, delicious coffee and occasional sausage, pasta, pastry, veggies.
You can just drop by and buy the things you need or stay and chat with the producers who are extremely knowledgeable ... and having a conversation in English (or even French!) is not a problem!

Great food discovery! local organic producers!
May 2018 • Friends
Every 2nd week-end at Gateway Ekkamai esplande, just out of the BTS. This is maybe more a place for expats and locals, but tourists too can go there! They focus on bio/ organic products from producers who put quality ahead of quantity. Discover a delicious French bakery (and French baker living in BKK for over 7 years) with incredible breads and croissants... A French trained Thai pastry chef... An fish seller who supplies some of Bangkok's top restaurants! A coffee grower turned barista who truly masters his instruments (coffee maker and grinder) and can make you taste delicious brews according to your taste! And much more!

What an experience, the train running through the middle of a market. Seeing is believing, when the train whistle blows everyone clears the tracks, lift the canopies and after the train passes through within inches of people they resume business. The fish markets were impressive, massive ( extremely smelly ) and very busy. A must to see

Fresh Foods, Thai and Western

I've written about the Farmer's Market at the Gateway Center Ekkamai BTS Bangkok in the past. This is an update. If your in to fresh organic goodies - free range eggs, Italian cheeses (made by an Italian), great French bread (made by a French baker, locally made Greek yogurt, etc., you gottta visit the Market. The items are more numerous than my year old review, fresher and more health conscious. It's your health and body! I suggest Greek yogurt from the Little Cow and Italian cheese from Anticaluna dairy company. Perhaps, you like pad Thai southern style. It's there for you. If you're a Filipino, visit the Fil adobo both, made by real Filipinos. The little cooked pig is there to prove they're the the real thing. For you Philly fans, there's a Philly steak both, make on the spot, by a Thai guy who knows his Phillly steak. Look for his Phillies baseball cap. Hope this brief review has wetted your appetite to get on over to the weekend Farmer's Market at Ekkamai.

Highlight at Gateway Ekamai
May 2017 • Family
Gateway Ekamai is quite a quiet mall peppered with Japanese restaurants, a food court and a supermarket. There is nothing to shout about given that Bangkok has many other bigger malls with more exciting offerings. I went to the mall to check out the Farmers Market held there on some weekends. The crowd was manageable and there were about 20 stalls baking in the sun (though there was shelter) hawking handicrafts, eats, balms, soap and such. You can sit there and have your homemade snacks. Pity that I didn't see the cat welfare society setting up stall there again. Would have loved to help them by buying some merchandise. The variety wasn't great when I was there.

Simply take the BTS to Ekamai and the market/the mall is at the doorstep. The market is open from 11am to 6pm. The mall is open from 10am to 10pm.

Worth checking out
Oct 2016
If you don't mind a bit of bumping around by bicycles, motor bikes and people carry big loads it's worth walking through to experience the multitude of items made and fresh to market. Just amazing. I was glad we had a guide who could talk to the various vendors and give us insight.

Why I visit BKK - Organic Products Farmer's Market
Sep 2016 • Solo
I come down from Chiang Mai specifically to go to this Saturday and Sunday market where I can see organic and natural and locally produced gems in the form of food prepared with intention and love and organic ingredients. Normally you can hear music and meet amazing folks interested in health and wellness. I cannot find many of these in grocery or even health food stores so I am delighted with my new purchases everytime including freshly made almond milk, kombucha, organic coffees, amazing nutritious foods made with upgrades of ingredients like coconut sugar instead of white sugar, Himalayan Salt instead of toxic white salt which has been bleached and stripped of minerals.

More a craft fair
Sep 2016 • Solo
As part of the Gateway Japanese shopping Mall not really a market feel to it but worth having a look if you are in the area on a Saturday or Sunday 10 to 6pm. Craft ware also available. Some food but not cheap except for some mini pasta dishes for 65B.
