Neighborhood: Chatuchak
Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

Took BTS Sukumvit line to Mo Chit, change to MRT 1 stop arrived at OTK market.

Great selection of local fruits beautifully presented - hamper, shelf displays.
Thai curries with rice ( aka chap chye png) on sale too for takeways. There's also a food centre within the market where you can savour wide variety of curries, roasted meats, traditional local desserts.
Amazing choice, clean affordable.

Preserved seafoods, my fave dried shrimps with chilli aplenty, spoilt for choice.
There's even a very traditional Thai dessert shop, beautifully created, nice looking, colourful n sweet too.

We bought some Thai rempah - massaman, red, yellow pastes. Well sealed, brought home for LNY... Mangoes are not cheap but of high quality, nicely packed for air travel.

Or Tor Kor market - a must visit for foodies, forget the weekend Chatuchak.

Or Tor Kor isn't the average Thai market, in any way. First off, prices are a bit higher than normal, but the market itself is ckean and brightly lit, and produce and seafood is premium quality and nicely presented. This market may not be worth a visit on its own, but when combined with the Chatuchak weekend market (JJ market), it's a good way to spend your morning. And to get a very tasty meal! Take MRT to Kamphaeng Phet station, and exit 3 will drop you right at the door.

Both locals probably the richer ones and tourists mount on this place as it is fairly clean and organized. Not too crowded and has varieties of cooked & raw food, snacks, groceries and even clothings/accessories. Recommended for a 1-2 hour walking and cafe experience. For those who needed air conditioning during hot weather there are some cafe inside and at the side of this big market, for a cuppa and rest.

The market is about 10 minutes drive by taxi from Pratunam area. The market is new, dry and clean and spacious. It is easy to move around and very cooling unlike Chachuchat market. They have many sections selling from organic, local delicacies and snacks, fruits, drinks, food stalls and a small clothing section. We tried some local food for lunch and its cheap and tasty. We also bought some fruits, like passion fruits and pessimons, which are juicy and sweet. One should visit this market for the foods and local delicacies but if you are looking for clothes, this is not the place.

I have read somewhere that OTK market is among the best in the world. When you visit you will understand why it deserves this moniker. Aside from being clean, the vendors take great pride in product display. They frown on you handling the produce unnecessarily. Not really a place for bargaining.

No tourists, so you know you are getting the real experience here by either shopping or eating. Raw foods, dry goods, even a small section of for a food court. Recommended for those with a little bit of adventure. A couple of Thai buffets as well as some small street food vendors. The place is known for its immaculate cleanliness if that is your concern.

Experience the local market atmosphere with many Thai dishes. There are quality fruits from the garden. Every product has a department of the Ministry of Trade. Thai commerce provides care and quality control and price Therefore is a market with many customers And travel is convenient, with a subway and an expressway to facilitate customers There are many parking spaces to accommodate customers. I therefore propose an alternative for the market in Bangkok.

It's the 4th rank of World Best Fresh Market by CNNGo this year. I am so happy to see this CNNGo ranking beacuse I have been there everytime I went to Bangkok and I love it. It's a large area of markets for farmer products as its official name "Marketing Organization for Farmers". Beside the freshfood market, It's also have huge gardening market (full of orchids and tropical plant) along the road.

However, I'm focusing on the fresh market with is filled with unique, hyginic and delicious food. Inside the market, there are a whole lot of cooked yummie food, fresh fruit, fresh vegetable, cooking ingredients, small food cort, etc. Everything here is a little higher price compared to others around Bangkok because it's all about higher quality. 90% for food here are delicious and many of them are rare to find in other part of bangkok. Fruit here are top quality, and many of them are off-season fruits which means some fruit are sold here all year round. The atmosphere is just a market but very very clean, tidy and not too crowded. Bank and western style coffee shop, etc are also available here. It's my most enjoyable market in the world.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

To get there by MRT, just get off at Kamphaeng Phet Station and take Exit 3, then you will be in front of the fresh market.

To get there by BTS, get off at Mochit Station, then connect the MRT at Chatuchak Park Station (need to buy new MRT Ticket) just below (underground) the BTS Mochit Station. Or you can walk, take a taxi or tuk tuk. It's just a km. away from Mochit station.

After reading the rave reviews about the quality of food sold there , I threw caution to the wind. I don't mind paying a higher price for quality food n that's what we did the evening before we departed Bangkok for home. We decided to have our grilled seafood at the food centre in this market. We had big river prawns supposedly grilled to perfection. Ever since we been back and it's been more than 10 days now , we are still suffering. Been to clinic 3 times already, had fever for 3 to 4 nights, forever nauseous, feeling of vomiting, really bad headache, the whole gamult of what really sucks, loss of appetitite, food turns me off. As of today we ate still suffering although recovering slowly. I had to write this to warn visitors to be very careful about what you put into your mouth despite what others say about quality of food.
