The area

Address
Neighborhood: Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.

I have been to this church for more than four times already. The first time I was there, on a Sunday afternoon, I was informed by the guards on duty that the church is only open during the scheduled mass. The church is closed when there is no mass. I am not sure, that was what I was told. Maybe I was too early for the afternoon mass. Also, I noticed that the mass is in Thai. I wonder if there is a church service in English for non-Thai. Most, if not all, church announcements even the envelope for offering are in Thai so I really do not know if the envelope was meant for mass offering, mass request or simply for offering. Nevertheless, if you want to pray or do some reflection, this is a good place to go.

I like this church. It reminded me of my church back home. It is not flashy but simple and beautiful. I got here before the Sunday 6pm service. People were nice and said hello. I felt welcomed and the mass was all in Thai but it is the same in any language. I would recommend it to everyone.

It is a church of Roman Catholic. It is located adjacent to Sarasak BTS station, take you ten minutes walk from there. Go out at exit 4 of Sarasak station and go straight. The church was carrying out minors works at when I visited.
I visited there on one of the weekdays in August. I went inside the church and I could feel the solemnity of it even there was no one. The internal finishes was in good condition, the paintings/statue on the wall talking the story of Via Crucis were so fine and details.
There are not so many Roman Catholic church in Bangkok, some are too remote. This one is quite convenient. If you are a Catholic and you need to go mass, it is a good choice.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but if you’re walking along Sathon Rd. like I recently was, then certainly take a few minutes to peek inside and see a quite lovely church.

When I look at the St. Louise Church, I see the structure and its landscape. However going back to its history and combine the church with the hospital next door, the whole scenario completely changed. With the effort of the pioneer in establish a foothold in Sathorn area 100+ years ago to create a place for worship as well as a place for healing the sick’s was amazingly farsighted. Now-a-day many Christians enjoy the convenient of the beautiful church for worship as well as important occasion and many Christians or non-Christian rely on the hospital next door for their healing and well being. Come to think of it, the church and the hospital are a god-bless combination indeed.

If you're Catholic, I'd advise against coming here. Priest and parish are unfriendly and unwelcoming. Seems like they've never been outside the country
