At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

Went at sunset. Great observation opportunity for overlooking Taipei. Admittedly a very tourist thing to do, but it provides the ability to visualize the city. Mall at the base of Taipei 101 provides shopping and food options.

The highlight of our Taipei 101 visit was actually the food court in the basement. It had many different types of Taiwanese specialty food. We were having hard time deciding what to have. The prices for food were very reasonable. We ordered quite a few items and everyone had a huge lunch for less than $200NTD per person. The visit... More

We have been to several of the worlds great buildings (Burj Khalifa, Shanghai Tower, etc) and this one is worth the visit. Great property and shopping / dining options on the ground floors as well.

It was much easier to get into the elevator to the top floors than I thought, everything is well organized and the waiting time was no longer than 15 min. the ground floors are full with luxurious boutiques and it was fun to have this great view on Taipei

Visited 101 back in 2009 (just writing the review now and it won't let me choose a date that long ago). Was an excellent experience, although it was 40C that day, overcast and about a million percent humidity (I'm from a dry place)! :) The elevator is amazing, I won't spoil it and when you finally get to the outside... when you are in Taipei you have to see the 101 view. It is amazing. The elevator is very fast and the view of the city is great. It is not cheap, but worthwhile

The observatory was closed because it was foggy when we visited, so we just walk around the mall. If you are looking for power house brands. This is the place! Food court is available at the basement and the food varieties are excellent. Better visit 101 in clear weather to make your time worthwhile because there's really nothing to do... More

We have to stand in line for about half an hour before going up..and it's only Thursday night. Can't imagine if it was on a weekend. Went up to see a beautiful night of Taipei and see the enormous damper. Great experience..!!
