There are two popular hotsprings in Beitou, one is the public one, similar to swimming pools, not recommend to go in the morning because it is always crowded with elderly since they can enjoy the hotspring for free. Another hotspring is in Japanese style, beware...More

We went to the public baths at Beitou, which was a remarkable experience. We were definitely the youngest people there and some of the few who weren't locals. The pools were quite hot so we didn't last more than an hour total, but it was...More

and hot it was. With water temperatures over 40°C it was very difficult to stay in the water for a long time. But you definitely have to try it. Prices are very moderate (I paid 200 NT$)

The hot springs themselves are great- but the public baths are just a little too Spartan for me while on vacation. Instead, spend a bit of money and go to Villa 32 for a private hot spring room- privacy, nicer shower facilities & changing area....More

Took a trip to Beitou via Tamsui Xinyi line MRT from Taipei. Nice Japanese influenced surroundings. The Aboriginal and indigenous museum and Beitou hot spring museum are not worth a visit. Nothing much to shout about and wasted a morning there.

Place is not big at all, there's a location map once you exit the MTR . A taxi ride getting there is cheap but if you venture, it's more fun. I have not been to the one in Hokkaido, so can't comment on that.
