Yangminshan National Park is actually a huge area comprising of numerous trails and visitor centers. We happen to end up at the Qingtiangang Visitor Center after we missed a certain bus stop, but we're pretty glad we actually ended up at the final S15 stop because the hike to Lengshuikeng provided us with a wonderful view of Yangmingshan's gorgeous landscape.... Great for taking walks, going for a bike ride, or run. Its a bit of a bus ride from Taipei proper, but once you have been there its easier to get back.

Right next to Taipei, you can see some really lovely natural scenery at Yang Ming Shan. The sakura flowers (the main attraction here) bloomed late this year, so I didn't have the chance to see them. However, the hibiscus in the park and the calla lilies at Bamboo Lake (竹子湖) were all very beautiful and definitely made up for it.... More

The easiest way to get up here is to take bus 5 or 260 up the big hill all the way to the end. Don't be misled by the one sign along the way that says (in Chinese) "Yangmingshan National Park" (a bunch of us got off near there: wrong!) -- that sign means: this whole area is the National... More

not too many cities have a steaming volcano on their doorstep, so make sure you see the raw power of mother nature and get great views of town whilst visiting Taipei. both the Rough Guide and Lonely Planet hopeless for this park because they have no map when describing something spatial. the yanmingshan national park website has fantastic map and... We took #15 bus from mrt Jiantan station and exit at the waterfall trail head stop. It was very convenient to get around and beautiful scenery while hiking. There is bus stop at the end of the trail. Super easy to get around in this national park. The trail is children friendly. My 7 year olds had fun during the... More

We've been here and it is a huge place. If you are more of a hiker then this is a place for you, we did't get to roam the whole area cause it was so big and we didnt get the chance to see the cherry bloosoms during our visit.

Taipei is not just about food and shopping. Be sure to drop by here for a hike or just mountain scenery viewing. There are a lot of trails here . Many mountain cyclist also come here to horn their skills. Take MTR to Jian Tan station and when you exit look out for the buses to YANG MING SHAN, Red... More

We went there during the CNY weekend and was obviously busy. So we expected to do 1 stop at the park. Decided on climbing Mt Qixing which is the highest point in taipei. This took a good 3 hours Getting there - catch MRT Jiantan and then catch free bus R5 to start of free shuttle bus 108 which goes... More

This second visit is mainly to catch the cherry blossoms but it was a disappointment as the flowers aren't ready to bloom due to a warm winter. Can only see full blossom in mid Feb this year
