There are many buses from the Metro to Yangmingshan bus station. For me, I took bus number 230 from Xin Beitou to Yangmingshan bus station and changed to bus 108 up to Xiaoyoukeng. I was amazed by the volcanic smoke upon arrival at the car park. I wore only a pair of slipper and was not prepare for any trekking... More

Was very misty on the day we went up, so there was absolutely no view from the top. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable hike up from XiaoYouKeng 小油坑 to the peak of Mount Qixing 七星. The hike took about an hour and was 1.6km long. Certain parts were really steep so it is not suitable for unfit people. Tips: Alight... More

I remember going there as a child with my family and I always try to incorporate a visit every time I'm in Taipei. We did the loop trail on a foggy day which made the scenery even more spectacular. There are local restaurants that serve the wild vegetables they grow along with local dishes. Probably best to go with a... More

Judging by the maps, this is a great park with lots of hiking and views and easy access from Taipei. It sees mad amounts of traffic on weekends, so if you can swing a midweek visit you'll be thankful. It is often in the clouds, and on the day we were there, the higher trails were completely socked in and... More

Amazing view, fresh air, good place to go during weekend. Go by taxi would be the best. Also a lovely place to jogging, picnic, and cycling.

Gorgeous views of the mountains, countryside, even a steaming volcano. Very popular and thus somewhat hectic but so beautiful

It is a mountain so expect some hiking. We just chose one stop which is lengshiukeng since the hotspring is there. There are two hotsprings - outdoor foot soak and indoor bath. For indoor, you will need to be naked so be prepared for that. Bring towel, shower cap and soap otherwise the locals will not let you get into... More

Amazing views and hikes here. The park is well kept and buses run to the hiking trails. Hot springs and trails that are spectacular! Right outside the city and buses and MRT hel you get there very easily. Highly recommend everything about this park.

When looking for hiking trails in Yangmingshan National Park I found it quite confusing to navigate around all the different trails (how long it takes where they intersect) and what can be reached with public transportation and what not. After reading a blog we decided on Miaopu trail to reach Mt. Qixing and then descending via the Xiaoyoukeng Trail. From... More

Unfortunately the day I visited the weather was not great in the park (although fine in central Taipei), low cloud and rain throughout. However, having got there, I decided to climb the tallest peak, Mount Qixing (Seven Star Mountain), which has an elevation of 1120 meters. From the national park visitor centre and cafe the ascent is about 600 metres... More
