First attempt to climb this mountain failed after taking a direct bus to the YMS visitor centre from Dongmen. Weather steadily got worse as we approached the final stop at the Parking Lot, heavy rain and wind made it impossible to consider walking it. So we waited around with a bunch of other people for the next bus back into... More

Amazing national park in Taipei. Lots of different trails, can spend a whole day here. Lots of climbing and stairs. Bring water and food. The park also has a bus service that takes you to the start of different trails, but is infrequent.

All year round has a unique appeal. Spring azaleas and all kinds of flowers, as well as cherry blossom season, bamboo lake of the taro season, while the volcanic landscape and hot springs in the winter people feel warm.

Took the steepest and most difficult Miaopu Trail up the Seven Stars Peak (highest point of Taipei). It was really not an easy climb and not recommended for beginners. Remember to stock enough water and food for rest at the various stops. It was quite foggy when we reached the top due to the winter season so didn't managed to... More

The Yangmingshan National Park is easly reachable by bus from Taipei and provides beautiful natural sights and adventure. In total, we did three trips there, among which one to see the Yangmingshan summit, from which the view of Taipei is beautiful if the weather isn't cloudy/foggy, and one to see the roaming water buffaloes. Perfect for a day-trip, but beware... More

We took the R5 bus from JianTan MRT station 劍潭站 and initially thought it would be a good idea to first check out the visitor centre - it's not. The visitor centre was a 20-30min walk (one-way) from the YangMingShan Bus Terminal, and not much to see. We'd suggest taking the #108 bus immediately upon alighting from the R5 bus,... More

This is the real Taiwan you want to visit. Yes it is busy with lots of tourists and traffic but the views and the fresh air is definitely worth it. Some excellent little walks through the hills with fantastic well maintained pathways. You will see steaming volcanoes and hot springs, beautiful valleys, temples and (surprisingly) many war time relics /... More

We enjoyed the beautiful gardens very much. Very tranquil and peaceful. We also visited "xiaoyoukeng" where you can see many fumaroles and sulfur pools bubbling away. It was pretty cold and windy when we were there 8 deg C. We also explored the Arrow Bamboo Trail to the various viewing platforms and again you have excellent views of the surrounding... More

Hike was crazy if you're not prepared but do take your time to walk the trail as it might get slippery. Just soak in the atmosphere and scenery along with the locals hiking there!
