I could not take in all of this building since it was under construction. A lot of cafes around and inside you'll find small designer corners.

This is Taipei's gay village with about 6/7 bars all outdoors but under cover. Drinks slightly pricey but expected really as it's gay. Food served at a few places. Quietly spring week but busier at weekends. Bars open til about 2am at wknd. Nice chilled atmosphere. Very good table service. 1 min walk from Ximen MRT

The red house was being renovated when I was there but there area right outside of it was busy with little outdoor craft marked and behind the red house other buildings were open seeking the work from local artisans, very cool area to browse and shop in the evening!!

The octagen building is under restoration right now so it is closed. This is not good for taking photos.Do call and check before you go there. The cruciform or performance section is open only when there is performance. Location is just outside Ximen Mrt exit 6 , located right in Ximending.

When I came to Taipei in September 2016, the place was closed up for refurbishment so there is pretty not much to look at aside from scaffolding and trucks. Would try to visit here on my next trip and see how it is like once they open up.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing a county so proudly showcasing their local products. It might be a little touristy but hey, everything in there is quirky and original (there's even soap for pets in the shape of paws!). Our favourite was, of course, the cat-themed shop with cute stickers, totes and ceramics. I think it's called 5 Minutes!

While you're in Ximending, definitely pop over to the Red House to appreciate it's architecture. It's a beautiful example of the Japanese colonial style seen throughout Taiwan, mainly in its old capital down south, Tainan. There's not much going on inside the building though - a few random stalls run by uni students - so not really worth peeking in... More

As of September 2016, the octagonal Red House is undergoing major renovation, so all there is to see is tarpaulins and scaffold. The surrounding boutiques and cafes are all open for business and seem as lively and busy as ever, but you won't see the Red House itself.

Went here at night and it was okay to take some pictures of, preferred all of the bars around the back though!

Red house itself was getting a facelift while I was there. Stalls were usual craft, clothes and candles. Nice for walking around in AC
