Just got back from an 11 day trip trekking to ABC via Poonhill and we've had the best time! A real challenge that we are so grateful and proud to have accomplished with the help our fantastic guide Indra.
We originally planned a 9 day trek with Eastern Light, who shared a detailed intinery in advance and organised our permits, guide and transport, picking us up directly from our hotel in Pokhara to the start of the trek. The booking process was really straight forward, transparent pricing and good communication in person at their office and via WhatsApp.
In the end our trek was extended to 11 days due to illness, but we were so grateful that our guide Indra was flexible and altered the intinery to allow us time to recover and still make it to ABC. Indra helped us find medicine on route in the mountains, he orgnised our stays and meals each evening at the guesthouses, often securing us extra blankets for the cold nights, and was also very thoughtful once he learnt of my partners bad knee - always looking for the best routes that would mean less steps for him and ensuring we took it slowly where necessary. Indra kept us entertained throughout, sharing his knowledge, experinces and many stories. He is clearly a very experienced guide and it was great to observe the respect he recieved from other guides along the way too.
On our final ascent day to ABC there was a heavy snowfall and many groups with less experienced guides, or no guide, turned back, but Indra gave us confidence to take it step by step and we made it up safely and were treated to the most amazing views the next morning. Anapurna Base Camp is a truly special place.
The whole route is beautiful. And while it's not easy I would definetly reccomend this challenge to anyone. You can go at your own pace and so some people will do it faster, others over more days, but however long it takes it will be totally worth it!

In October 2022, sixteen secondary school students (and three staff) completed the Annapurna Base Camp supported by Eastern Light Trek (in collaboration with Global Footprints). I am writing this review as the lead teacher on the trip and can honestly say this was one of the best experiences of my life, plus a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students.
Deepak was our main guide and he was brilliant from the moment he met us at Kathmandu airport to the final morning that he dropped us back off for our flight home. I really can’t thank Deepak enough for making our trip so memorable and amazing. During the trek we were also supported by Hom and Top who were not only incredible guides, but also supportive and lovely people. I have kept in touch with all three of them since returning to the UK!
Throughout our trip, it was clear that the safety of the students was of the highest priority. The trekking guides were experts with the route and ensured that all students walked at the appropriate pace and organised regular rest breaks to ensure that each day's trek was completed successfully with minimal fatigue. The guides ensured that all students had adequate food and water throughout the walk, plus the appropriate equipment each day to stay warm and dry. The trekking guides were motivational and positive throughout the trek (“Jam jam!”) and were experts at recognising when a student needed some additional support. For example, the guides would assist students with carrying their bags if they were becoming fatigued, or during challenging sections, to ensure they remained focused on the trek. The trekking guides were extremely knowledgeable and taught students about Buddhism, Hinduism, plus the local culture and language throughout the walk, which the students really enjoyed.
All students successfully completed the Annapurna Base Camp trek and displayed excellent resilience, enthusiasm and strength with this. We could not have completed the trek without the expertise and support of Deepak, Hom, Top and the rest of the team! The students described the trip as, “Exciting, challenging, incredible, breathtaking, cultural, fun and a once in a lifetime experience!”.
Our baggage porters were also fantastic and ensured that our kit arrived at our destination each day safely, on time and dry. They were a valuable part of the team and I can’t thank them enough for their support.
I would thoroughly recommend Eastern Lights Trek for future group trips to Nepal due to the professionalism they displayed, their high levels of care and outstanding local knowledge. I would also use Eastern Lights Trek for my own personal trips / adventures and have already recommended them to friends and family interested in hiking in Nepal!
Thank you Eastern Light Trek for making 2022 so memorable.

I used to trek at Nepal during this period for past few years, due to COVID-19 pandemic this year, I can't do anything. But compare to me you guys have been badly hit.
I am sincerely recommend Eastern Light Trek to those who love to trek like me, the team manager Dev is a humble guy, he always put our safety in the very first place. No over charge no fanciful promise, every time I send him email I got a response within hour, I always created my own itinerary and he took the trouble to suggest improvements and always contacted us during the trek to ensure that all going well.
I have been using their services 3 times, (Jomsom trek on 2013, Annapurna and Machappuchare Base camp trek on 2017, Annapurna circuit trek on 2018). And I will definitely go through them again.
And hope Nepal trekking industry can soon be recover after the pandemic. Can't wait to go back to this heaven of trekkers.
总结:希望疫情快快结束,让爱好徒步的我们能回到这美丽国家的怀抱,让那些靠山林存活的真诚人们找回一些生机。。。

I came to Pokhara without any plan of a specific hike, but after a warm welcome in the office in the city, I figured out that the Mardi Himal trek for 5 days was the one for me. I also checked out other trekking companies, but liked this one the best. Price was 350$ for the 5 day trek, and I am very happy with my choice🙌
My guide Tab was very kind and experienced, and we had a good time. We both were young, so we set a high tempo from the start. After taking the first two days in one, my guide flexibly and creatively made a new route for us, to fill up all the days paid for. This also gave me the opportunity of seeing even more stunning views.
The trek gave us stunning views, magical sunrises and sunses and pleasant mountain hotels, all in the midst of amazing 6, 7 and 8 thousand meter peaks🙏 The Mardi Himal trek is very well renovated, there are many hotels, cafés and restaurants along the way, and one can walk in one's own tempo. A very good trek indeed!

My 10 day trek with Easternlight was a magical experience. I’m not the most advanced of trekkers its fair to say, but the journey was made enjoyable throughout. To kick things off, the office in Pokhara were happy to lend me a rucksack which would be a perfect size for the trek; this was a great start. The organiser (Punam) was very helpful from the office, offering me any help or advice that was needed, and planned this off-season trek to perfection. My guide Manoj, was very experienced, spoke great English, and was in general an absolute hero. He was very supportive throughout the more challenging aspects of the trek, and was happy enough to advise and accompany other trekkers along the way, who maybe didn’t have guides. His knowledge of teahouses and the route in general was expert, and he provided laughs and craic over the trek (24hr dal bhat power). All in all it was a fantastic experience, and I couldn’t highly recommend Eastern Light Trek enough. Many thanks to Manoj and Punam. I’ll cherish these memories forever. Dhanyabaad, Thomas.

ELT are brilliant. Have used them before and would use them again.
I went trekking with them in Feb 2020 and I’ve been counting down ever since to when I would be able to come back to and do another trek with them. Last week a friend and I did the ABC trek with them.
Dev and his team were first rate at helping organise things on short notice; within 48hrs we had an itinerary sorted, and ELT were really quick to provide the different paperwork we needed for visas etc.
On the trek itself everything was really well organised. Our guide, Tab, was great company for the trek, looked after us all the way, and we noticed a difference compared to other groups on the mountain in how slick things were for us.
On top of all of this ELT are really friendly and welcoming, it never feels like a business transaction, it genuinely feels like you’re heading in to the hills with friends. I’ve recommended friends and family to use ELT and I’m sure I’ll be back again soon.

We happened upon Dev, and are thrilled that we did! Dev is incredibly personable, and he quoted us a very reasonable price for the Panchase hike. The guide we had (Deepak) was just amazing! He was super friendly, he took care of everything (even paid for things that you read we should pay for ourselves), introduced us to great people, and trekked inexhaustible. When we failed to see the sunrise at Panchase (because of cloud cover), Deepak and Dev suggested that we go to Sarangkot in Pokhara to see the sunrise the next day. They arranged this at no extra expense to us. I can't speak highly enough of Eastern Light. I highly recommend them!

My trek to Poon Hill/Ghorepani/Ghandruk with Eastern Light was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The whole team is very kind and responsive in communications, answered all my questions, and made sure I was safe and healthy during the trek, particularly as a solo woman trekker. My guide, Indra, was fantastic - he knew the trekking route(s) extremely well, was patient and encouraged me in moments of difficulty, and provided fascinating insight into Nepali culture, history, and language along the way. I would highly recommend booking a trek with Eastern Light Trek, and I hope to go on another journey with them very soon!

Fantastic 6 day tour with our guide Deepak.
Our circular route took us to both Poon Hill and Muldai View, the latter is one of the most beautiful viewpoints we've ever seen.
The whole trip was seamless, including good recommendations on where to stay and stop for lunch. Deepak was very flexible with what we wanted to do, incredibly knowledgeable about the area and very good company with a great sense of humour. We would emphatically recommend him as a guide to anyone trekking in the Annapurna region.

Dev:
The owner of Eastern Light Trek, Dev, was nothing short of amazing. Based purely on trust, he arranged the entire itinerary and domestic flight tickets (Buddha Air) for my friends and I. Should we have cancelled our trekking plans, all the hard work he had put it would have been wasted. Dev’s friendly personality aided the planning and he made sure to address any concerns with regards to the trek. Furthermore, we were quoted an honest price for our package which remained the same despite last minute changes!
Padam and Shankar:
It was our first time travelling to Nepal and attempting a moderate difficulty trek. We were shown an amazing experience by our guide Padam and porter Shankar. Despite carrying our heavier loads, both Padam and Shankar, who were adept to hiking on ice and slippery grounds, never failed to check and wait for us should we be lacking behind. Padam’s decent command of English is prevented any form of miscommunication. He is a well-informed guide who further amplified the breath-taking experience of Annapurna.
The entire trek was by far no easy feat, but Padam and Shankar’s friendly and easy-going personality shed away our daily fatigue and motivated us to reach our end goal. Thanks to Padam, Shankar, Dev and his ELT team, we could immerse ourselves in Nepalese culture and have an unforgettable experience. Definitely would contact them for my next Hike in Nepal!
@padam, thank you so much! Hope to see you again for the next hike!

I really don't know anymore. Dev asks fair prices. You can try to book cheaper elsewhere, but it doesn't pay out. For us it's also important that the porters and guides are insured and treated well and Eastern light trek takes very good care of his people. Don't go for the bottom price but got for a safe and well organised trekking.
