Bit of a gothic let down.
THIS place has been hailed as probably the longest and most attractive cave in South Asia, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. For a start, it is cramped and claustrophobic with frequent places where two people cannot pass each other. Another unwelcome feature was the pushing and shoving of fellow visitors keen to see something or just to get out. Add to that poor visibility, treacherously wet and uneven footing, slippery steps and a very low ceiling in places where I hit my head and it is definitely not a memorable experience. Not disabled friendly. Visitors also end up wet because there is a constant drip of water which can't be avoided. At the lowest gallery people can experience the rushing entry of the river with glimpses of the falls but it is hardly memorable. A lot needs to be done to make this cave deserve any sort of recognition as a place everyone should visit. A good start would be better lighting so people can see where they're going. Definitely an average experience.

Good place to visit to explore the caves.
Good place to visit and know the ancient culture. Explore the caves and see water seeping inside the caves. Good to take pics there. Place for worship too. The place is being maintained.

    It's a Shiva temple
We visited this place during the Aarti time in the evening. The temple was resounding with the chants of Om Namah Shivaya 🙏 The gufa had about 450 steps to go down to the caves. Nearby there is Tibetan handicrafts cente, from where you can buy your souvenirs and outside there are stalls selling Tea/ Coffee & Snacks.

Nice and beautiful spiral steps of about 200 to reach Gupteswar Mhadev, a descent Shivlinga of about six and half feet tall inside the interesting cave where water continuously dropping from the roof. Another 100 steps downwards to reach to Kamdhenu who gives us milk automatically as soon as we kept hand below her utter. Really fantastic idea and arrangement. A few steps below saw the fountain which flows continuously through tiny spaces of two stone walls and disappears inside unknown Patal . Colourful designed spiral steps , wall sculptures of the entrance and overall this cave is no doubt a visitworthy place of Pokhara . I appreciate this tourist spot and recommend to all to visit definitly.

This was my first experience of the caves. The path leading to caves is beautifully painted. Once the caves start its dark and water is oozing out of caves so wet too.
Deep inside is stream of water flowing heavily and one see wonder inside the earth in form of different texture on wall of caves.

A cave with a breathtaking architectural work of art. Descend 3 flights of stairs to reach the heart of the cave. There is a hindu altar within the cave. No pictures are allowed, as the cave is considered sacred. There really is nothing much but the 50 NPR is worth what you pay for.

beautiful architecture! the stairs down to the cave are really impressive. loved how everything was overgrown. the cave itself is less impressive, you need to walk barefeet some more wet stairs down to find a hindu temple down there. photos or videos are not allowed. sadly the 2nd part was due to too much water closed. entry fee is 50rps, which is absolutely worth it.

If you haven't had a chance to visit this cave next to Davi's fall, I would highly recommend doing so. You can see a very spectacular view of the waterfall inside the cave and crystal clear pond inside the cave. The natural cave is beautiful and worth visiting.

The cave is an experience worth having, if not a totally pleasant one. The entrance to the cave is interesting, and then the temple cave itself is quite crowded, with narrow passages leading down to a cavern. More worthwhile than Devi’s falls, but once in this part of town, you might as well do both. (It is possible to walk down from the Peace Pagoda.)

The swirling stairs leading down to the caves are beautiful! But the caves themselves are not pleasant to be in - when we went it was very crowded, dank, dark, and drippy. There is one option to see this weird cow statue, and if you give this guy a coin, he throws it down a tube, and the cow's udder squirts water - it's supposed to be good luck. At one point where the cave opens up and you see the river coming in, there was so much garbage in the water, it was just kind of sad and gross. My daughter, who usually never has this issue, started to feel a bit panicky/claustrophobic. We were both glad to get out of there.

This place is known as Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. Visited in December 2022. We went to this place as part of a full day sightseeing tour. You need to traverse a market before reaching the ticket counter. Then head down a flight of stairs to reach the entrance of the cave. Then another flight of stairs down to the stalagmite which is revered by local people as a deity. You need to remove your footwear to go near the deity. There will be somebody watching the crowd there. Then go down another flight of stairs, some rough steps and one last flight of stairs to reach the spot where you can view the falls from a distance. Then head all the way back up.
