Well organised into 3 sections - about the various mountain tribes; about the mountains; and about the expeditions. Also some displays about climate change and geology. There is a 18 minute video which is basically views of Everest and nature set to music, disappointingly no Annapurna footage so I wouldn't bother with that, unless you need to sit down for... More

The museum is located behind the Airport. We walked there which took us 45 minutes as public transport was hard to find given the fuel shortage Nepal was under. The exhibition is fine, multiple topics like Geography, Biology, People of Nepal, a "quake special" and, of course, the history of mountaineering in Nepal. Price was okay.

this museum will be very interesting for anyone who wants to learn more about the Himalayas, the various peaks, local ethnicities and the history on mountaineering in Nepal. We have been there is 2012 and again in 2016. It was updated between those visits. Most of the museum is very interesting. One side note is a life size Yeti that... More

Has displays of the mountain people, their way of life in the hard terrain and inclement weather conditions. The entire history of mountaineering is depicted through displays of clothes, gear and history of every mountaineer who has scaled the peaks of the Himalayan ranges. A good two hours is recommended to really get to know the life of the mountain... More

As the guide books say, if you don't have the full climbing experience, this museum gives you a very comprehensive picture. And the beautifully-displayed history is fascinating. The video is a bit amateur, but the rest is first-rate.
