Essentially this is a place where very dedicated students come to learn how to complete the intricate and highly detailed Buddhist art that is Thangka, specifically Mandala. We were given a 10 minute or so overview of the art and then given an opportunity to look at and purchase items if we chose. The best Mandalas are completed by the Masters who've trained for upwards of 10 years and each piece can take some 40 days to complete. Incredible really.
