I just completed a weeklong trek in the Khumbu region with Himalayan Friends that exceeded all of my expectations! From the planning stage, Phuri was very open to customizing my itinerary, which I really appreciated since I had a short window of time but wanted still wanted to be fairly ambitious with my trek. I loved having a guide who was a Sherpa, and therefore knew the culture of the Khumbu region and was able to answer all of my questions not only about the landscape, mountains, and wildlife, but about the culture, history, religion, and language, for example. I learned so much from my wonderful guide, Kami! We summited Gokyo Ri, but also visited several monasteries and saw a lot of wildlife. I am so glad that I was able to travel with a Sherpa and also to support a Nepali company owned by a Sherpa for this trek. I loved all of the lodges that I stayed in, including the lodge run by Phuri's family in his home village. It was a wonderful experience to get to stay there! I will definitely do another trek with Himalayan Friends and will recommend this company to others. A lot of my friends and colleagues in Kathmandu trust Himalayan Friends to book their treks throughout the country, which is why I booked with them and will do so again!

We went on the Everest Helicopter Tour, organized by Phuri, who was also came along as our tour guide. It is not cheap ($3200) but it was one of those amazing trips we will never forget and totally worth it. We had to postpone due to weather on our first try but Phuri was super flexible and we had no trouble rescheduling. On the big day, they picked us up at our house and whisked us to the airport. It was so nice to be assisted every step of the way through the airport and to our helicopter. After a short briefing, we took off, headed for Lukla with our pilot pointing out the sites as we flew. We had a short stop in Lukla which was pretty quiet and then headed up into the mountains. The views were amazing and the flight smooth. We got lucky since the weather allowed us to land at Kala Patthar which offered an amazing view of Mt. Everest. The air was cold and thin but we got to take in the views and marvel at the splendor of Nepal that few get to see. We flew back down to the Everest View Hotel for breakfast with breathtaking views of Mt. Everest and other peaks. The meal was top notch with tea, toast, omelettes and juice. It was clear and crisp but the sun warmed us as we stared at the mountains, watched the eagles fly and listened to the chanting of the monks from Tengboche Monastary across the valley. After breakfast, we wandered around a bit, watching the yaks grazing and enjoying the fresh air before flying back to Lukla for a cup of tea and some traditional scarves. After they refueled, we flew back to Kathmandu and were presented certificates and scarves from the helicopter company. Phuri and his crew got us through the airport and brought us home to end a spectacular trip. We could not have asked for a better day. Phuri was the best guide and organizer and made sure my family had an unforgettable time. The weather was totally on our side so we got lucky there but the trip was one we will never forget because of the attention to detail and service Phuri provided. We will definitely turn to Himalayan Friends Trekking for any other trips we take here in Nepal. They really put their customers first and do everything they can to make your trip as good as it can be.

I was in Nepal during March 2020 and have been blocked there during the first two weeks of the global COVID19 lockdown. Thanks to a common friend I ended up being host in Phuri’s house ! They welcomed me as part of the family, making sure I was feeling comfortable and safe among them. I enjoyed a lot our cooking and yoga class ! I’m really gratefully for the time we had together and I thank you a lot for everything you’ve done for me !! I’m looking forward coming back and visit yournnew house ! Take care and stay safe ! See you next time ! Maya

Himalayan Friends Trekking has always been my go to for trips in Kathmandu and outside, and furthermore, their environmental issues awareness helped me to conduct climate change research in Lukla too. They helped me not only in finding a comfortable and beautiful stay in Lukla but also helped me in conducting my interviews and field visits to Lukla. I could have a great field visit thanks to them, who helped me in arranging the difficult to get flight tickets, great food and great hospitality and research assistance in Lukla. Forever grateful! 💙

Phuri and his team were great organizers and put together an excellent visit for us, especially as we were beginner trekkers. From meeting us at the airport until we left, everything was prepared. They put together a good 5 day program for us near Machhapuchhare that was challenging but not overwhelming. They also helped us to prepare and pack accordingly and provided us with an excellent guide and porters and made sure we had the correct documents and insurance to make the trek happen. We also had a number of other requests for activities in and around Kathmandu and Phuri and his team made it happen. It's also great that his family helps make up his team. Definitely would recommend them and plan to work with them on our next visit!
