Study Abroad Hiking Trip

The guides and porters were awesome!! They made our entire group feel very at home and safe during our trek. They were very knowledgable as well as personable and entertaining. I would recommend to anyone. We trekked to Annapurna Base Camp for 10 days and they made the experience much easier and more enjoyable.

An excellent experience trip

4 Vietnamese wandered beautiful Nepal. We had about 100km trek for 10 days in the Himalayas. Beautiful scenes, friendly people, warmly hospitality from the guide and porters. We had a lot of fun there.
Special thanks to Ram Gautam and his handsome friends who changed our schedule due to the weather forecast so we can meet the perfect weather of our journey.

Study abroad trip to Nepal

Unique experience in Nepal hiking to the Annapurna Base Camp as well as touring around Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan National Park. Our guides and staff were not only knowledgeable in the mountains but provided a cultural background for the students as well. All of the staff were extremely personable, cheery, and made each trekking day very fun. Food was fantastic on the trek and if you're lucky you may even get some dancing! Ultimately it was an experience I will never forget, thank you Shambhala and namaste!

University sponsored trek and tour of the Annapurna region

I was apart of a group of about 33 Americans coming on a University-sponsored trek and tour through the Annapurna region of Nepal. Our journey was planned, accommodated, and guided all by the Shambhala Trekking Company from the moment we were picked up at the Kathmandu airport to the moment they saw us off on our departure back to America at the same airport. We could not have asked for a more knowledgeable, helping, and accommodating group of guides and porters for our journey. Shambhala made it possible for us to complete a week-long trek to the Annapurna base camp as well as explore the Nepalese cities of Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan.
I cannot recommend them enough as a trekking agency of choice if you are planning to visit the beautiful country of Nepal.

Month-long study abroad trip to Nepal

Member of a 13 person group traveling to Nepal as part of a university sponsored study abroad trip. The greatest portion of the trip consisted of a two-and-a-half week trek which included ascents to Mardi Himal High Camp, Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill. Also spent four days in Kathmandu exploring the city by visiting cultural and historical landmarks. Shambhala Trekking provided an incredible experience and made the trip one to remember forever. From greeting every member of the group with the warmest of smiles in the morning to ensuring we all had enough to eat at dinner at the end of the day, the guides, porters and leaders of Shambhala were there for us. Their leadership and guidance allowed our group to fully learn and immerse ourselves into the Nepali culture and we left we a much deeper understanding of the culture and people of Nepal. The trek was carefully designed to be challenging without being overly difficult. I would highly recommend this agency to anyone who is interested in visiting Nepal and hope to see them again soon.

Trekking arrond Manaslu and Tsum Valley.

This is the second time we have been trekking with Shambhala in Nepal. The first time and this time around we enjoyed our trip immensely. We where looked after with great care and the Trekking teams from both times where great Guys and enabled us to finish the trekking successfully. We thank you all from the depths of our Hearts for a wonderful time in Nepal with many beautiful memories. During our trek this year we were also able to do a side trip to the lesser known Garnesh Base Camp that was at the beginning not planned. It was a "first time" for everyone including our Guide Ramesh. Everyone enjoyed the side trip and thought it would be a great thing if it got put in the regular program for Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit.
Not forgetting Rama and Ramesh who did a Super job of organising everything including all our special wishes and changes of Plans. Great Guys, very friendly, honest and always very helpful.
Many Thanks again to you all and hope to see you all again some time in the future.

American anthropology students have successful trip b/c of remarkable Shambhala!

I am an anthropology professor who has brought American students to Nepal four times in the past 8 years, each time with Shambhala Trekking. They are AMAZING. They combine decades of experience and expertise in just about everything -- mountaineering, religious practice, local customs, landscape and community history -- to provide a "state of the art" service for visitors to Nepal. They are highly professional, treat their family-like organization ethically, and work hard to serve a wide range of visitor interests (botany, religion, caste/class/ethnicity, etc.). First and foremost, they insure the safety of their clients -- reliably, professionally, impressively; but they also are kindly experts who share their knowledge, stories, insights, and community connections with lucky visitors. Chatting with co-founder Padam Ghale about his solo summit of a Himalayan mountain, or where the tiger trails used to be, or conversing with manager Mukunda about contemporary politics and religion in Nepal, or about his activist work to improve the lives of women there....I was always grateful and inspired. I cannot recommend this organization more highly. Thinking of that special trip to Nepal? Contact Shambhala!!

"Once in a Lifetime Buddhist Pilgrimage"

I have been a Buddhist practitioner in America for the past 40 years. This January, I had the opportunity to plan and do a 6 week Buddhist pilgrimage. Shambhala Trekking, and particularly, Mukunda Bista, were highly recommended to me for the 16 days I planned for Nepal. I researched where I wanted to go, and left it to Shambhala to organize and plan my trip, which they did splendidly. In addition, Mukunda, who is also a practicing Buddhist, added more locations to my wish list. It was an memorable trip. I highly recommend Shambhala to anyone who wants to go on Buddhist pilgrimage. You will have a deep and meaningful journey.

Excellent Buddhist Pilgrimage

My trip with Shambhala Trekking was filled with deep knowledge and insight of the sacred Buddhist sights in and around Kathmandu, thanks to our excellent, passionate, tour guide, Mukunda. We visited places not normally seen by Westerners and I hope to have a chance to return someday to trek the Himalayas with Shambhala Trekking. They are professional, organized, honest, good people!

In March of 2017, I visited Shambhala Trekking in Kathmandu and had the privilege of seeing Sir Padam Ghale, the owner of Shambala Trekking and world renowned climber, mountaineering instructor, mountain rescue instructor and member of the Nepal Mountaineering and Guide Association. We talked about I a few of my climbs with Padam which he organized, including my summit attempt of Mount Everest. Padam and his staff thought of every detail making for great experiences on these climbs and every detail was perfectly planned. This made for enjoyable major climbs and the many fun treks Shambhala Trekking planned. I saw many other trekking company groups on my climbs and none compared to Shambhala, a truly professional and safe trekking and climbing tour company.
