We had a great trip with Friends Adventure Team! Everything was well organised. The head of the company Rajendra contacted us right after we made a reservation and provided us all the required information. Our Guide Venn and our assistant guide Rajan did a great job and always made the right decisions in case of unpredicted events. They took care about everything and gave us a lot of information about the mountains and the local culture. Unfortunately the the corona virus became worse while we were on the trek and we had to change the plan, but they still managed that we can see everything we planned and we were back to Kathmandu a couple of days early. Venn also helped us to catch a flight back home, as our flight was cancelled. We had a really great time in Nepal and we totally recommend to do this trek with Friends Adventure team!

Quick Summary - You're in good hands with Friends Adventure. You'll enjoy beautiful nature, learn about the local culture, meet many dogs, and make international friends along the way. Trekking to EBC is a big decision. Your research can range from just relying on word of mouth to researching articles/reviews. I booked a solo trip last minute with little research. I summited Kilimanjaro in January so I knew I was prepared. A friend used Friends Adventure and showed me pictures. That was all I needed. The company quickly responded and was flexible with my dates. If two recommendations are not enough to book the trip, you need to break your decision into two parts. First you need to decide if you want to see EBC. For me, the opportunity for photography was worth it. If it's for you, then you need to pick a company. The scariest thing to get over is the flight into Lukla Airport. You can do your own research but they've made safety improvements and require more pilot training now. They also delay or cancel flights if fog is bad which prevents issues. While that can be frustrating, I'd say its worth the abundance of caution. I really don't like flying but I would do it again. You want a company that will get you to EBC. Plain and simple. Friends Adventure will not only get you there, but they will quickly become your friends. Kanchha, my guide, knew the trail in great detail. He briefed me each night with accurate detail (length, difficulty, time) I like details, the more the better, so he was a perfect match for me. I also wanted to take lots of photos. He was very patient when I stopped frequently. Kanchha made sure I was eating enough food and even asked for extra portions to make sure I was properly fueled for the day. I was tired on one particular day so he made sure I took extra water breaks. Lastly, I wanted to do EBC and see the sunset from Kala Phattar in the same day. Since I was feeling well, we made the push and enjoyed a great view after a long day. I really appreciated his flexibility so I could get photos at sunset. Rajan, our porter, was also very friendly and hiked with us. He pointed out good photo spots for me too. Afterwards, I became such good friends with them that Rajan invited me to his small business in Lukla. It was a special experience learning about his porterhouse. The region really depends on tourism. The food he cooked was the best I had along the trail. I went in February which is off peak. I don't like crowds so this time of year had the perfect balance of solo trekking and limited interaction with other hikers. I imagine peak season will be a different experience. It all depends on what you are looking for and if you are going solo or with a group. Ask for Kanchha and Rajan when booking with Friends Adventure. They'll give you the trip you're looking for. Tell them Jesse sent you. Tips: Water - I needed 1 mineral water a day for the trail. Tea/drinks included at each meal. Money - I0,000 rupees is enough for the 10 day trip. You'll need less if you bring chlorine tablets. Mineral water is 100/200 early on but 300/400 a bottle near base camp, so plan accordingly. You're paying more because porters hike clean water that far up. Snacks - Bring a protein bar a day or other snack you like. Souvenirs - Buy them on the way down. TP - Bring 4 compact rolls.

We heard about Friends Adventure Team from our friends that gave them rave reviews. Rajendra, the owner of the company, answered my numerous emails promptly regarding the details of the trip. He arranged everything and we still correspond to this day. We were a group of 3, my husband and girl friend and it was no doubt a trek of a lifetime. I can't say enough about our guide and now friend Dhan Bahadur Dong. He taught us so much about Nepal life, mountains , etc. He is one of the main reasons why we had an unforgettable adventure. Dhan’s warm smile, positive demeanor, passion for the mountains and music (he’s a great musician), photography skills, etc. added to our incredible journey. It was all about the journey and we can't thank Friends adventure team enough. This is a 5+ star adventure. We will be back! Sue and Gary from Alaska
