About Above and Beyond Trekking - Day Adventures
For the past 18 years 'Above & Beyond Trekking Company', a Nepalese government registered tourism company, has provided thousands of clients with a safe and exciting holiday experience in the Himalayas at affordable prices. Above & Beyond Trekking Company is owned and operated by Shyam (Sam) Bahadur Pun, a local trekking guide who grew up in the foothills of the Annapurnas. Whilst growing up Sam travelled extensively throughout the Nepalese mountains. Sam enjoys sharing his love of travelling through these mountains with his guests. Based in Kathmandu, Above and Beyond provides a range of price competitive package deals for groups of two or more people and also caters for those who wish to construct their own itinerary. During his 18 years working as a guide/porter Sam has seen the hardships of village life in Nepal. He is very familiar with their struggles to overcome poverty, to obtain medical help for their families and to educate their children. Sam's aim is to support these villagers and so he uses only local porters, guides and sherpas for Above & Beyond Trekking. NAMASTE & TASHI DELEK!

Sam is a such an enthusiast to walk the mountains with. He brings his special warmth, wisdom and insight into the journey, making the experience that much more enjoyable. The Mardi Himal trek follows a high narrow ridge with spectacular vistas of the Annapurna range. The last day brings you right up close to the magical Machapurchre (Fishtail) Mountain. I have done many treks in Nepal, several with Sam over the last 9 years. This was the last before ending my work here. Can't thank Sam enougth for helping to make this final one that extra special.

My sister and I were fortunate enough to have met Sam through our accommodation (Life Story Guesthouse in Patan). Sam is the most kind, knowledgeable and humorous guide you can find. He literally has a spring in his step😊 He sets a good pace and is very encouraging on the steeper parts. The hike was beautiful, we were lucky to have sunshine & clear skies. The views and scenery were amazing. We stopped for a traditional Nepalese lunch at a teahouse on the way. The hike took about 5-6 hours at an easy pace. I’d highly recommend booking a hike with Sam.

We cannot say enough good things about Above and Beyond. Sam was fantastic from our first contact prior to our trek, to our continued contact following the the trip. Our guide Gyan and our porter Ason truly did go "above and beyond" to make the climb and decent the best possible experience. Gyan's personality, attitude and knowledge made him a wonderful companion. He continually took pictures and video and presented them to us on a thumbdrive the day after our return to Kathmandu. If you shop around you will see that you will get the highest quality of service for a very reasonable rate.

Just need to sing the praises of Sam and his team at Above and Beyond Trekking. Myself and 3 mates just completed the Langtang Trail Trek. Unfortunately the wet season hung on a bit longer this year, but Sam’s intimate knowledge of the area enabled him to adjust our activities to take in visits to local families and still get to witness the amazing scenery at the summit of Kyanjin Ri (4,773m). We saw a number of trekkers with less experienced guides suffering altitude sickness, or worse, but none of our group had any issues or illness thanks to Sam’s skills, experience and intimate knowledge of the local people, their culture and the environment. Thanks Sam for one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

This was my first trek in Nepal and I have to say Sam made this adventure a memorable one. Sam is an extremely organised guide who has access to all sorts of off the track experiences. He was always in control and mindful of how people were travelling. He has a great sense of humour and I would recommend his services to everyone.
