My husband, 4 friends and I just finished our EBC and Gokyo trip with high spirit treks and it was an amazing experience! Our guide Shera and our porters felt like family on this trip and always had our best interests in mind. Additionally, they were very flexible with the itinerary to suit our group's needs, which at times meant changing the route to get to EBC (they were very cooperative with us).

Our guide was by our side at all times (especially if you were at the back) and didn't rush us at all. He chose great teahouses for us to stay in and was very knowledgeable of the area. He and the porters were also very friendly and easy to talk to. Every night we would play card games and chat, they even took the time to teach us some of the language.

I cannot recommend these guys enough! There is so much clarity with their pricing and inclusions/exclusions, they are quick in responding to your queries and they take such great care of you. We had such an awesome experience! Book your EBC trek with High Spirit Treks!

We did a two person 5 day Poon Hill trek with trekking guide Mansing. We had a wonderful time! Mansing was fantastic, very helpful and kind and fun to hang out with. We met him in Pohkara where he helped us to buy and rent some hiking gear for the trip.

The trek was beautiful, though sadly there is quite a lot of plastic rubbish being dropped, mostly by Nepalese apparently. We had many great views of the mountains, and the lodges we stayed at each night were nice and peaceful. I would definitely choose High Spirit again next time we come back to Nepal for trekking!

Our experience with High Spirit Treks was really wonderful. Our guide Min was so knowledgeable and experienced. We felt very comfortable and happy the whole time with him and he knew so much. Everything was organised really well, from the moment that we walked in the door of High Spirit and met Shiva. Shiva was always available, and quickly answered queries. The itinerary was really good and our trek was very beautiful. We definitely recommend going with High Spirit Treks, and the wonderful skills of Min.

They organised for us (a 6yrs old child, and adult and my parents of 65 yrs) a ring trek of 12 days to Lake Gokyo and nearby pass. Our guide and the porters were wonderful, friendly, extremely professional and accommodate changes in programme and itinerary. Pick-ups from the hotel, flights, accommodation, etc were all spot on. We booked everything the evening before departure, the price was good and the arrangements straightforward and clear.
On our return from the trek, they also organized for us a 4 days trip to Pokara including flights, accommodation and a car with driver to take us where we wanted. Also this was trip perfect as it allowed us a lot of freedom to travel, stop and visit what we wanted and to maximize the time available.
We had then had two, one day trips to the main locations in Kathmandu valley. We had a driver taking us where we wanted.
Should be return to Nepal, they would be our first choice.

I don't often bother to write reviews but every now and then something comes along that is so good it would be wrong not to tell others and High Spirit Treks is one of those things.
I took an chance of tried a Kathmandu based company that was recommended in Nepal's Lonely Planet.
Most of my communication was by email. I explained what I was looking for and Ramesh and Shiva got back to me with a various packages that they could offer and even custom made packages to suite my wants.
The service is second to none. They were friendly, helpful and delivered everything that they promised. It became very obvious quite soon after I arrived in Kathmandu that the staff at High Spirit Treks genuinely want you to be safe and have a good time.
They took care of all the paperwork necessary for trekking in Nepal and provided me with a fantastic, experienced guide.
I have no doubts that I will return to Nepal one day for a different trek, perhaps in the Dolpo region and will definitely be using this companies services.

I went for an Everest Base Camp Trek alone in 2013. I chose High Sprit, after comparing three similar companies. The Thamel office person was nice, and I was satisfied with their offer, as the prices looked clear and appropriate since they gave a precise breakdown of things. The trek went well after all, but overall, my impression of this company is so-so because of three reasons: 1) The guide was often not besides me during the trek, and 2) The pricing was not clear after all, and 3) The guide had his "favourite" teahouses, and I was not allowed to choose my own.

On the first point - I am a female in my 30's, and wanted a guide from the local area, as I supposed he would be more familiar with things. The guide was indeed very familiar with the area, but to the extent that he kept on running into people he knew, and spent a lot of time chatting with them. He would tell me to keep going alone, and would only catch up with me after over an hour, and sometimes even two. I had hired him as I am a relatively inexperienced female trekker, and found it very unprofessional of him to let the client walk on her own for long hours, on multiple occasions (I could have slipped and fallen somewhere, or gotten hurt, not to mention that sometimes in Nepal foreign female trekkers get into trouble with local men). However, the porter was very nice (probably he felt sympathetic towards me), and sometimes waited for me and accompanied me as the guide was chatting away somewhere else.

On the second point - I had paid my fees (all included) in advance in Kathmandu, but noticed that the guide was always worried about the money, when I was ordering food at teahouses. It turns out that although the daily budget according to the Kathmandu office for food was 2,500Rs per day, the guide was given only 1,500Rs per day to pay for the meals. This can make a big difference, especially as you get closer to the Everest Base Camp as prices are higher there. While other trekkers were having snacks/starter, main dish and dessert, I had to choose whether I would have a snack or dessert. This is obviously not very nice when you arrive exhausted to the teahouse, and you cannot even choose what you want to eat (especially, given that I had paid for much more than what I was allowed to order by the guide). I understand that companies need to make profits, but it should obviously not be at the expense of the meals (also, taking a 40% margins on the food budget seems excessive).

On the third point - at every night stop, the guide had particular teahouses with which he had established connections (please note that the lodges themselves are free, as long as you take your meals there). During the trip, I had made friends with fellow travellers, and wanted to stay in the same places as them, but as the guide did not accept that, I had to negotiate with him (one night in his preferred teahouse would allow me to stay one night in the teahouse where my friends were staying). I found this ridiculous - he would prioritise his own preferences over the client's request! I therefore spent a few very boring evenings on my own (nights are long in the mountains, especially when you're alone), while I would have preferred to spend time with my new friends in the same guesthouse as them.

I have gone trekking with other agencies/guides, and did not have issues like this. So while the trek itself was nice, the whole experience was a bit tainted because of these issues (which may appear minor but are important when you are up in the mountains).

We found High Spirit Treks when we went around Thamel looking for trekking companies for various trips around Nepal. We were impressed right away. They took time to find out what we were interested in seeing, what our previous trekking experience had been and our preferred dates. In the end we booked trips to Mount Everest Base Camp, Chitwan and days trips around the Kathmandu vally, with them. Their service, guides and advice were all great. I would recommend them to anyone visiting Nepal. They make the effort to get all the details right. They are also a really nice gang of people ... and they make a good cup of tea.

I would highly recommend High Spirit Treks to anyone that has an appetite for trekking in Nepal or even further a field in other regions of the Himalaya.
High Spirits organised all our accommodation and transport needs.

Shiva and his team proved to be very flexible and accommodating and they ensured that we were happy with all the arrangements not only while on trek but before and after our trek. This is something that would not have been possible with a larger organisation.

Shiva tailored the itinerary to meet our personal wishes. There was only 4 in our group my wife, myself our porter Sita Ram and we were fortunate to have Shiva as our tour guide. Shiva has trekked in the Annapurna region many times and has a vast knowledge of the area. He has built up a good relationship with the local people over the years of trekking in the region.

At the completion of our trek Shiva recommended we tour the Kathmandu Valley for a few days instead of spending more time in Kathmandu City which he also arranged and made himself available as our guide.

On our last night in Kathmandu, Shiva invited us to his home for a farewell dinner of traditional Nepali dishes prepared by his sister. All in all, a very memorable experience.

How lucky we were... we arrived in Kathmandu with zero preparation other than knowing we wanted to hike for 8 days and see 8000m mountains.. not realizing the time this would take to get to the different places shiva at high spirit who happened to be the first trekking tour booker we saw while having dinner just magically fixed it for us!! We were booked on the first flight to lukla the next morning and of course the weather was to bad for all airplanes to actually operate... so shiva pulled another magic trick out of his hat and got us on a Helikopter to lukla - no extra charge!! We were basically the only ones to get up the mountain that day! The rest of the trip was of course amazing as you would expect from
Everest !! Without knowing any better - to me it will always be high spirits when trekking in Nepal!
