Kathmandu Adventure Treks, We are nestled in the heart of the majestic city of Kathmandu, capital of Nepal - a country steeped in natural beauty and rich in culture. We offer a comprehensive service to tourists throughout Nepal as well as in Tibet, India and in Bhutan (the land of the Thunder Dragon). The company was formed by a team of Trekking Guides and Climbing Sherpas with over 12 years experience in their respective fields. It's my fourth trip to Nepal and my fourth trip with Kathmandu Adventures. Why would I use anyone else?
We did a 14 day trip with Kathmandu Adventure Treks to Annapurna Base Camp, including 11 days of hiking as well as travel and sightseeing in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
This trip was difficult and it's trips like this that separate the excellent hiking companies from the okay ones. Heading to Annapurna Base Camp we hit thunderstorms, torrential rain and sleet - and the rivers all came up and we heard there were landslides ahead of us. Expansion was able to replan our trip, use his connections to rebook our guesthouse accommodation in spite of it being high season with little availability and everyone else trying the same thing - but discussing options with us clearly beforehand so we could work out as a group what we wanted to do. Simply amazing. Everything really is no problem when you travel with Kathmandu Adventure Treks.
Many many thanks to Expansion and Bachan our guides, and Karna, Rabi, Anmol and Hira our porters. So much tireless work put in.

Company Owner, Expansion Dahal, organized and led the trip of a lifetime for a large group of adults of widely varying ages through this exquisitely beautiful area of Nepal. Our family of 4 will always remember not only the magnificent terrain in these valleys and the amazing views, but also the people we met along the way and the things we learned from Expansion about life in these villages both before and after the devastating 2015 earthquakes. Expansion's personal network is vast, and we were delighted to make the acquaintance of local people in his network along our route and learn about their families and businesses. He pointed out for us the places most deeply affected by the 2015 earthquakes, including many memorials to lost loved ones built along the paths as well as memorials and remembrances inside the teahouses. He helped us understand the rebuilding process and how it has shaped life across the whole valley. In addition to being a brilliant organizer, Expansion is an expert on Nepalese culture, society, religion, history, and economics. He shares his knowledge and his pride in his country quietly and respectfully and never tires of answering trekkers' many questions. We learned about everything from Hindu rituals of remembrance and Buddhist prayer wheels to crop cycles and the economics of yak (nak) cheese production! Expansion also guided us around Kathmandu after the trek, which perfectly capped off our trip. One more important thing to mention: Expansion is a leader who cares deeply about the welfare of his employees and guests. Our porters were an amazing team and an integral part of our little temporary trekking family. Starting on Day One, Expansion (and Bechan, our 2nd guide) set a tone of mutual care and respect that infused everyone in our fabulous group (most of whom did not know each other prior to the trip). I cannot recommend this company highly enough. If you are looking for the trip of a lifetime for yourself, your family, and/or friends, reach out to Expansion. He has lots of great options.

Thanks to Expansion and his team I had an unforgettable experience in Nepal. I was in Nepal for 26 days - trekking, sightseeing, cultural experiences, spending time with the locals and I even did a jungle safari! The trekking was pre-arranged but all my subsequent activities were planned on the fly in Nepal. Kathmandu Adventures tailored an itinerary that fit my time, interests and budget (tight!). Every detail was taken care of and everything ran smoothly, even when plans needed to change on the fly. I was impressed by Expansions wide and deep knowledge of his country, his strong networks and commitment to supporting Nepals local communities and businesses. His English is also great and he isn’t too bad at German either! The whole crew at Kathmandu Adventures are an experienced and just awesome bunch of people, and are genuinely committed to providing the best experience for their customers. I left with an experience I will never forget, new friends and eager to go back for more. Kathmandu Adventures is the best.

I have just returned from a 10 day trek to Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda Lakes, expertly managed and accompanied by Kathmandu Adventure Treks owner Expansion Dahal and his team of guides and porters. Nothing was a problem for Expansion and his team. Our group of 17 ranged from age 27 to 77 and differences in fitness and ability were catered for along with requests for varied food choices .Accomodation also varied according to availabilty and Expansion made sure we had comfortable western style bathrooms where possible. Two of our party had birthdays which were celebrated with cake and gifts. On our return to Kathmandu , Expansion was in attendance for 4 days offering sightseeing trips to local places of interest and guiding us to restaurants with good hygiene standards.For a complete wrap around service or advice on planning and executing your own trekking experience anywhere in Nepal , I can thoroughly recommend Expansion and his team at Kathmandu Adventure Treks.You arrive as a tourist and leave as family.

This was my second time visiting Nepal, this time with a group of 17 doing a 10 day trek through of Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda Lakes. Again, Expansion and his team welcomed, guided, cared for and supported us with exceptional organisation, good humour and grace. When you leave Nepal after spending time in the company of Expansion and his team, you are leaving friends. His team's end-to-end presence whenever needed, from airport pickups to exploring Kathmandu, trekking in the mountains and organising day excursions shows his great connections and relationships both with and between his own team and across Nepal. Their support of of a diverse group of people on a challenging trek, and sharing of his country, culture, practices and people is generous, informative, open and humbling. Always smiling and strong of spirit and body, Expansion and his team flexed seamlessly with any shifts in plans and needs that happened along the way, and ensured our time in this incredible country was memorable and an absolute pleasure and privilege. I look forward to seeing Expansion and his team again, as I will be sure to be back and travel again with them to feed my soul and see more of their beautiful country.

This is my 24th trip with Expansion Dahal and his company, Kathmandu Adventure Treks. Like the other trips, this one was well organised with wonderful and friendly porters who looked after all our needs.
Expansion also accompanied the group (14 of us from New Zealand) to make sure that everything went well. The meals were delicious, explanations were concise, accommodation was first class and nothing appeared to be a problem.
Well done Expansion and I look forward to 24 more trips with you and your wonderful team.

Our family went to the Langtang Valley with Expansion Dahal and his excellent team of guides and porters. Expansion and his team provided a suberb trip. They were responsive to a diverse group of trekkers, many of whom were 60 and over, by accommodating meal preferences, walking speeds, illnesses, and bouts of fatigue. They were unfailingly gracious with everyone, ensuring that the entire trekking party felt welcome and supported. I can't offer enough superlatives for the care, attention, and insights Expansion provided. I would definitely return to Nepal for a trip led by Expansion and his team; he is a gem.

Prakas set me up at Rest Up hostel and gave me a good price, $290 including everything but food and drinks. I spent around 2500 rupees a day on food, and around another 500 to 1000 of coffees and tea (lifesavers on the trek) along the way.
Our guide, Krisna, was top knotch. Very knowledgeable and attentive. At every stop and each hotel Krisna made sure all our needs were taken care of. He didn't talk our ears off during the trek, which I appreciate, but he's happy to answer any questions and cracked a few key jokes along the way. I finished the trek feeling like I made a new friend in Krisna. If you can be guided by him you are very fortunate.

Some of our family and friends from the US along with experienced trekkers hikers and other friends from NZ - 17 people in all, recently completed in a 9 day trek to the Langtang valley, Kyanjin Gumba & Kyanjin Ri (4773m) and back around to the Gosainkunda Lakes (4380m) with Bharat Pancha from NZ who has led many groups to Nepal and Expansion Dayal from Kathmandu Adventure Treks, who with his dedicated team of Porters, and excellent guides, orchestrated/organised accommodation, meals, Logistics, activities and transfers. This is no mean feat!! with multiple tea houses and hotels en route while ensuring that menus were as varied as they could be, and that activites and days were well paced.
Thanks to the Kathmandu Adventure Trek porters and guides who carried our gear, maintained morale and good humour, and helped us celebrate two birthdays while on the trek. Everyone was made to feel welcome.
I would recommend Expansion as an excellent organiser for these kinds of adventures.
