Myself and my two friends recently enjoyed a 3 night / 4 day trek around the mountains surrounding Kathmandu, everything about our trip was extremely enjoyable but still challenging. We had originally looked around and consulted 3 different trekking companies to get an idea of prices and the ‘Motherland Hiking Team’ definitely gave us the best deal with the most included. We all had an extremely good time and hope to come back again.…

I used their service recently to Trek to Annapurna Base Camp and I was very impressed. Everything was well orginized and went exactly as scheduled. Our guide SAMIR RAI was also fantastic and took great care of us. 10/10 I would recommend this company.

We booked with Motherland Hiking. In our correspondence with Krishna, before our trip commenced, he was extremely helpful. The trek itself was great and successful! We had a highly experienced guide (Samir Rai). Krisna and the team were very professional and come highly recommended.…

We hired a guide/porter through Motherland for our 19 day Everest/Gokyo trek late in November. First of all dealing with Krishna (company owner) was a pleasure, he's super happy with bags of energy and enthusiasm for your trip. He used to be a guide himself so he's highly knowledgeable regarding safety, timeframes and itineraries for tons of hikes in the Himalayas. The staff are insured and kitted out with decent clothing and the daily rate prices are very reasonable too. Dil, our amazing guide/porter become sick around day 6 with a chest infection and went to hospital but not before arranging a replacement guide with Krishna first. To me that's amazing and we felt lucky to have external support. I tell you, it's worth hiring via an agency rather than hiring somebody randomly upfront, not only for the welfare of that person (insurance/clothes) but to also ensure you're not stranded with excess baggage to carry. We witnessed lots of sick people on this trip including other guides/porters. It was extremely cold, -15 one night so you can see why people get ill. Down clothing will be your new best friend! Conveniently, we hired our down sleeping bags and jackets next door at 80-100 rupees per day hire. Cheapest rates we saw all day. For us, the highlight was Gokyo lakes staying in Thanka Inn. Just stunning. We stayed 3 nights and hiked Gokyo Ri and to the 6th lake where you see a different perspective of everest minus the crowds. The hike back to Lukla via Dole was beautiful and lonesome....perfect! We're glad we did this with Motherland.…
