I think this trek was one of my most significant experiences in my life. First, I had warm-hearted people surrounding me: our guide, Sudip Kadel with his caring and funny attitude (“Don’t you worry, chicken curry.”), our porters Pawan and Dinesh Thapa with their perseverance and physical strength and my beautiful trekking companions Mandy and her son Daniel. I can say that the 6 of us created an attentive, patient company with full of laughter and jokes. Sudip was not only cooperative by consulting the possible changes regarding our trekking capabilities, but he also taught us to stay present and not to worry about the upcoming challenges. “Is it so far?” (the next teahouse) “It’s about 50 minutes or something like that, but we are not in a hurry.” And we weren't. We had time to enjoy the breathtaking view, to observe the echoes of our footsteps, to slow down and realize: we are in the presence of Machapuchare, the Fishtail which is believed to be one of the homes of the Hindu god Shiva.

Planned and liased the trip with Raine. She was prompt and provided me with key details about the trip. Though it took a while, she was very patience and professional.
Once in Kathmandu, everything was sorted out brilliantly. From airport transfer to arranging stuffs for the trek. Ishwor came to brief prior to the trek. The hotel provided in Thamel was huge, clean and comfortable. There's a few nice restaurants near the hotel so food is never a problem over there. The Himalayan Wonders staffs were awesome. From helping with currency change to getting trekking stuffs, they will recommend which shops to go to.
Trekking guide Laxman was awesome. I can never thank him enough for the generous information about the environment and wildlife along the trek. My pace was slow and he was always around me to make sure everything was alright. He gets all the teahouses and food ready when we reach our resting point for the night. Porter was badass too. Carried all my stuff in a duffel. Huge respect to them. On the final night, we had an awesome time together during dinner. From this trio, not only I have gained beautiful memories of my trip to the Himalayas, but also I have a build a friendship with the people who made this trip possible.
I will really recommend Himalayan Wonders to any of my friends who are looking for treks around Nepal region.

We had an amazing 4 day trek from Lukla to Everest View Hotel and back with Himalayan Wonders. Surin, our head guide was amazing and was ably assisted by Junga and Sanu, the two porters, and they were a fab team. They really kept the kids engaged with lots of stories about Nepal during the walk and magic card tricks at night.

Doing the EBC trek with Himalayan Wonders was nothing but amazing. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu to the moment we left the country, they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. Whenever we had any questions or queries, they were super helpful and professional, and I was never unsure of anything. I want to give a special thanks to our guide Chandra Rai who was excellent during the whole trek. Every evening he gave us a detailed brief about the following day so we always knew what to prepare for. He was also very good at teaching us about Nepal and its culture as well as providing a fun and motivating environment. You could tell that they have a lot of experience and they were very caring, constantly checking in on how we were doing and feeling, which made us all successfully reach the Everest Base Camp. One day I will hopefully be back in Nepal to do another trek and when I do I will definitely book it through Himalayan Wonders again. Even after we finished the trek, we stayed in Kathmandu for a few days an they still helped us with whatever we needed. At this point I was on my own and Chandra personally took me sightseeing around the city. The trek was amazing and I would 100% recommend Himalayan Wonders for anyone else thinking of doing it

My daughter and I did the ABC trek with Himalayan wonders in October 2024. Even though our guides and porters were nice, we did not have the best experience with the company. They charged us almost double what other travel companies in Nepal were quoting, but their prices did not match the experience that was provided. They chose some pretty terrible tea houses for us to stay in despite better options being available. The itinerary that we were initially given was completely changed, and we did not find out about it until day 1 of the hike. Because of the changes, we ended up staying at some pretty unsavory places. Additionally, despite there being rooms with attached bathrooms available in some of the towns we stayed at, we were made to stay in places with communal bathrooms. We had also been promised private accommodation, but the day before the hike, they told us that we would have to share a room with others in our group for one of the nights. We were okay with this as we understood that it was a busy season, but then last minute, they tried to make us share again the following night. After others in our group messaged company management about how we were all disappointed, they received a message essentially asking what we expected him to do about it. After we all complained, they told us that a room had miraculously opened up and we got our own rooms that night. The tea houses are so cheap in Nepal, they charge around $10 per night, so I’m not sure why they were trying to cut costs here.
We also had to pay separately for drinking water, hot water for bathing, and WiFi throughout the entire trip. Despite how much we were charged by the company, we ended up having to cover a lot of these smaller expenses ourselves. Even their service before and after the trek was not great. The cars sent for airport pickups and drop-offs did not have AC, they didn’t even send a car to pick us up for the debriefing the day before the trek started (someone came to pick us up on foot and we had to walk all of the things we rented back to our hotel afterwards). Additionally, while other companies provided duffel bags and sleeping bags as part of the package, we had to pay extra for both of those with this company. We got certificated of completion at the end of the trek, but they misspelled our middle names on those, so even that extra bit was not done right.
I had read excellent reviews prior to booking this trek with Himalayan Wonders and was under the impression that the extra money is worth is due to the services they provided. This was not what I experienced at all, so I would not recommend Himalayan Wonders at all. Choose a different company and save your money.

This trip took a long time to finally happen. Originally we booked for 2020 and Covid came along. We rescheduled for 12 months later but a serious knee injury meant delaying until October/ November 2023. All the time David and his team were very patient and accommodating.
Right from the airport pickup things ran very smoothly. After checking into the hotel we were given a thorough briefing by Pemba. An early morning alarm for the 4 hour drive to Ramechhap for the 15 minute flight to Lukla, hang onto your hats it’s a hairy approach and landing!
We met our guide Pasang, very relaxed and calm about everything. The first day has a lot of downhill so is relatively easy but obviously means more to climb the following day!
We were a group of 4 friends, it was quickly obvious to the guide that one of our team was way behind us and he spent more time at the back with him and gave us directions as to where to stop for coffee, lunch, etc. There were several other HW guides on the trail at the same time and they looked out for us (thanks to Little Pasang, Arjun and Bember).
The two acclimatisation days are listed as optional, do them! They definitely help you prepare for the next levels.
The accommodation was mostly OK, food was generally good, and friendly staff everywhere. Don’t expect much more than a basic room with running cold water, if you are lucky.
The final day up to EBC started at dawn from Leboche, it’s cold until the sun rises so make sure you have your down jacket. Breakfast at Gorakshep 2 hours later is followed by the final push to EBC. We then returned to Gorakshep and I took the opportunity to do an evening trek to Kalapathar to watch the sunset over Everest, well worth oing as I didn’t fancy the 3am start to watch the sunrise!
One of our party didn’t make it up as he got a toe infection and had to be helicoptered down before we got anywhere near base camp. The rest of us took 3 days to trek back down for a well deserved beer or two at Lukla.
We opted to get a heli to Kathmandu to save the 5-6 hour minibus trip (due to the Dewali festival).
Pasang had to carry out colleagues rucksack from day 2 and deserves great credit for helping him.
I thoroughly recommend Himalayan Wonders as your partner wherever you choose to go in Nepal.

I had a great experience on with Himalayan Wonders on my group trek to Everest Base Camp this season. The staff created an amazing itinerary and were so helpful when my bag did not arrive on my flight to Kathmandu. The true gems of my experience were my guides., Pemba Tamang, Mingma Sherpa, Phurba Sherpa, and Chitra. Pemba was wonderfully entertaining with funny jokes, fluent English, vast knowledge of the region, and a close connection in each town leading to great local experiences off of the traditional itinerary. He was resourceful and dependable in challenging situations. Mingma was incredible. He singlehandedly made me feel incredibly safe the entire journey. He was incredibly thoughtful and attentive when group members weren't feeling well, the first to lend a hand when trouble arose, and eager to teach us more about the region. These guides made the experience for me and I couldn't be more grateful. At this point I wouldn't want to trek the Himalayas without these specific individuals.

The EBC trek with Himalayan wonders guides was a memorable one. Our group had 10 women trekkers with different pace and, the guides adjusted their presence based on the needs of trekkers supporting throughout.
The young boys Pasang and Sushaan Raee, supported at every stage and more over by asking interesting quizzes about the mountains .. kept us entertained ....they helped not only just during the trek but also ensuring that we received the ordered food and water etc. Chandra Rai is an experienced guide of Himalayan wonders..
The October trek had unanticipated weather conditions which threw the actual plans a bit behind. With Snow and Rain, all these guides as well as our porters supported us through hard times.

I did the 12-day Everest Basecamp trek with guide Jamga and it was an incredible experience! More so than what I even expected, but it was the hospitality and professionalism of Himalayan Wonders and Jamga in particular that made all the difference.
I traveled alone but was in a group with 10 others (a group of friends). Jamga made sure I was still able to go at my pace rather than the groups', so it very much felt like a private guided tour. Every detail of the trip was carefully planned and I am happy to call Jamga not only the best guide to EBC (other trekkers wanted to poach him, lol!) but also a friend.
I highly recommend Himalayan Wonders to anyone looking to trek EBC and if you can have Jamga as your guide you are guaranteed a life-changing experience.

I did an EBC trek with Himalayan Wonders (HW) in April 2022. The entire Himalayan Wonders team did a fantastic job with logistics, trek leadership and attending to every detail, however minute.
A few people deserve extra special mention: our lead guide Pasang Rinji Sherpa, our asst guide Pasang Sherpa and fellow trekker and HW social media expert, Brinlie Clark. These team members went above and beyond to make my experience the best ever.
I am particularly impressed with the young asst guide, Pasang, (nicknamed Junior, by me) who was personally attentive to my every need. I look forward to the opportunity to return to the Himalayas and trek with him as a lead guide.
I highly recommend Himalayan Wonders to anyone considering an EBC trek or any of the many locations they serve. And if you're fortunate to trek with my dear friends Pasang and Junior, please know you have the best guides in Nepal. Jamba, Jamba

Hello, Can I get some customer reviews for the EBC trek via Himalayan Wonders?
Written February 10, 2021
Hey, is there a huge difference between boots from a brand like Quechua vs a more premium one like Salomon? Is the price difference worth it for something expensive like Salomon? What shoes did you do the EBC hike in?
Written September 13, 2020
hello all ...am a 50 year old reasonable fit man but worried about my fitness levels with regards to doing Everest base camp...can anyone reassure me ? thanks Chris England
Written January 3, 2020
Hi Chris,
You need to be able to walk about 8 hours a day for 10 days in a row. As long as you’re reasonably fit you’ll be able to manage the trip. I would also recommend taking Diamox (for altitude sickness) and making sure you drink 2-3L of water every day to prevent dehydration. Also, I walked with a buff covering my nose and mouth to prevent the Khumbu cough for the entire trip. Just a heads up that that if you’re looking at any of the Himalayan Wonders itineraries to EBC the last 3 days back to Lukla are actually the toughest as these are the longest days, both in terms of distance and walking time, even though you’re descending in altitude. I did EBC and the Gokyo Lakes with Himayalan Wonders in November 2019 and it was an awesome experience - highly recommended them.
Regards,
Devorah

What can I expect for a 14 day trek at the end of december? Cant find any info on people commenting on trekking that time of year.... I know the pro should be less people around but I am worried about the cold conditions, especially in the night....
Written August 27, 2019
it would be very cold in december. In april itself night weather was unbearable.
Written September 20, 2019
Has anyone done this trek in the second half of June? Just wondering if the weather caused any problems!
Written May 1, 2019
Be prepared with good rain gear.Including cover for shoes.
It might have more cloud cover but it does open up
You need to wake up early for stunning views of mountains.
Even in summer time weather changes after 13.00 hours.
Different challenges just know them before be well prepared then you are good for you hike.

I’ve booked the 16 day EBC trip with Himalayan Wonders for May, and so far been really impressed with the company, info, friendliness and helpfulness.
One thing I’m a bit concerned about is being asked to pay the balance of the holiday costs in cash on arrival. They have said there are card payment facilities in the office at Khatmando but it will cost 13% more due to local taxes.
Is this right? I’m just concerned about carrying that kind of cash on me.
Written January 21, 2019
Yes, they did take cash from our group. Most of our group had the cash. It wasn't a problem. Kathmandu is a very safe place. Money exchangers on every corner. No one seems concerned and we were assured it was safe. I don't think you will have any issues.

Hey guys, we are keen to do this in October.. is this a good time? How fit would I need to be to do this? I've done a 6 day trek through the drakensburg many years ago and really want to start doing it again. Any other advice anyone can give me for planning for this trip & also what o should bring?
Written January 17, 2019
I went in November and it was still lovely , October will be great! Sky should be clear , and it’s not too cold , weather will be amazing and you’ll love it ; and About the fitness level , you don’t have to be a marathoner or a triathlete to so that, it’s enough to be kind of an active person with no major joints , bones issues , healthy with no cardiac or pulmonary issues ; it’s all legs and lungs ! And you have to get yourself in the positive mindset , going slow and steady , drinking lots and lots of water on the way up and and finding your pace ... I hope you go for it, Enjoy !!

Thanks

Hello,
You can do may be 3 times a week jogging or running. Climbing staples for 20 to 30min. If possible with face Masque. Due to cold wind you always have to walk with covering your face. This is really helpful. Nepal is very good. You can buy stuff from Namche Bazar. Lukla flight only allowed 15kg including hand bag. Wishing you all the very best for your future trip. ..
