We spent 20 days in Kathmandu, Shiva gave us all the useful information to move around the Karmandu Valley, in his hotel we felt at home. Great value for money. Shiva was an important reference point for our trip.

There are good experiences and then there are experiences that you will cherish for the rest of your life, my trip to Nepal certainly classifies as the latter. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu, we felt welcomed by the hospitality meted out by the ANA team which consisted of Sailes (guide & sales director), Saroj (guide) and Shiva(the director). They quoted a very reasonable, no-frills price which in hindsight I felt was far too less for the kind of experience they provided. Me and my group of 6 friends visited Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhaktapur which were all great in their own right but the highlight of our trip was the Annapurna base camp trek which was an awe inspiring addition to our itinerary. Sailes and Saroj were more friends than guides, they were constantly helping us and pushing us forward by telling us that the destination was 15 mins away when in reality it was at least 2 hrs trek away. I don't know how we could have done it without these guys. Even though we had a tight schedule (7 day ABC trek), we got decent accommodation and great food at every place we stopped, everything was organised in a timely manner ensuring that we never overshot our timelines. In short, we got everything we were promised and then some. During the course of our stay we also noticed that these guys were extremely flexible, they offered to help us rent equipment that we might have forgotten like trekking poles, sleeping bags etc and were open to change of plans. The icing on the cake was the Dinner arranged by Shiva at his own expense followed by a traditional Nepalese send-off in the morning (which included Airport drop-off!). A special mention to our 3 porters whose speed and skill awed us throughout. If you are planning to visit Nepal for a vacation, then hiring the services of 'Ask the Nepal' is a no-brainer!

Having just returned from a dream come true holiday in Nepal, my 9 year old daughter and I, would absolutely recommend "Ask The Nepal Adventure Company" for perfect management of any trip. Shiva and all his staff bent over backwards to give us security, comfort, a wonderful cultural experience and education, friendship and a personal touch. We felt safe in the knowledge that all the details were taken care of, while we were left to soak up all the sights, sounds, smells of this beautiful country. The Balthali Eco Hill Resort perched on the very top of the hill with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains, was particularly memorable. The food was scrumptious and staff welcoming and warm.

What a mind blowing adventure to have with a family. We took a customised trip for a family with Shiva and his two excellent porters. We trekked through the Himalayas for 10 days living the dream with the majestic backdrop of the Anapurnas. It was challenging, fun and interesting. The local team all spoke great English and they involved us in local customs and communities. We stayed in tea houses, and ate the local produce. It was great.

It was in the month of June that I along with 6 of my friends embarked on a journey to witness some of the finest scenic beauties. The hospitality dispensed by 'Ask The Nepal', led by Shiva's welcome at the Kathmandu airport, followed by the guides- Shailesh and Saroj throughout the trek to Annapurna Base Camp, was astounding. The team catered to the interests of the individuals by being extremely flexible and accommodating with the itinerary - I had to fly back a day earlier than the others in the group and ATN planned accordingly and served the best places of visit considering my plan - and at the same time adhering to the schedule when it mattered. Both the guides were highly courteous and became a family the very first day. Be it the readiness to lend their personal things such as trekking poles, blankets or rain covers or the preparedness of nursing injuries picked up before and during the trek, the approach of both guides was distinctly professional yet very personal. I had gone on the trek with a torn ligament on my leg but the personal touch and care shown by Shailesh and Saroj alleviated my problems to a great extent.
To seek inspiration from and to keep us going through the difficult parts of the trek and more importantly to perform the taxing job of carrying our heavy luggage, there was the team of the untiring and ever smiling porters - Lakhpa, Praveen and Bahadur. The 7-day trek, with great food and accommodation, at a very reasonable price was certainly an experience of a lifetime.
Nepalese traditional send-off at the airport was the embroidery of merriment. It was a very well organized trip to cover most of the important tourist destinations in Kathmandu and Pokhara. One can be assured of an exuberant trip, a complete package, with the decision of choosing 'Ask the Nepal' for a holiday in Nepal!
Thank you ATN!!

A few friends and I decided to trek to the Annapurna Base Camp: it had been our long standing desire and we had postponed it for too long. We were looking for a low-cost decent trekking agency to help us make this possible. Ask The Nepal was just what we needed. We got to do a wonderful trek with Sailes, Saroj, Lakpa and two other porters for a low price without compromising on the quality of our stay or transport. It leaves me wondering how they managed to provide us with such decent facilities with the little money we paid. We were received with garlands at the Kathmandu airport and the same level of hospitality continued throughout the trip. Sailes and Saroj helped us a lot in various situations. Sailes had a way to tackle any problem that we encountered. His phrase, "No problem, I will manage" really speaks of his capabilities as a guide. Be it altitude sickness, tiredness, flight-booking, vehicles for sightseeing, you name it and Sailes has a solution ready!
During the trek we awarded him 10 stars for his remarkable captaincy! :P
Wonderful people and perfect planning:) Thanks Shiva, Sailes, Saroj, Lakpa and the other porters for the wonderful experience!

My friends and I were very keen on trekking to the base camp of the Annapurna range. Also since we are all students, we were on the lookout for a budget trip without sacrificing safety. We were extremely lucky to find Ask the Nepal! The trip was very well organised and within out budget. We were totally seven, and along with our guide Shailesh we had a lot of fun. The trek, the accommodation and food, and all the facilities provided were brilliant. The owner, Shiva is a great person, who went out of his way to help us when one of our flight bookings needed to be advanced. We felt completely at ease throughout our trip and I would definitely recommend Ask the Nepal to whoever would like to visit Nepal.

My boyfriend and I planned our trip to Nepal through Ask The Nepal Adventure, including the Annapurna Circuit Trek, sightseeing in Pokhara, Chitwan National Park and back to Kathmandu before a tour of Tibet. We simply provided a brief of what we wanted and received a tailored itinerary and very reasonable quote. Shiva, the company director, welcomed us at the airport with marigold wreaths and we felt we were in his and his staff's capable hands for the next few weeks. Shiva took us out for a welcome dinner and taught us how to eat Dahl Baht with our hands :) Our trekking guide, Ratna Ghale, and porter, Narayan Paudel, were second-to-none in their delivery of such a wonderful trek. We felt Ratna treated us more like family, and we were so well looked after in comparison to others on the trek. It was really above and beyond what we were expecting. We did the Annapurna Circuit in 15 rather than the scheduled 17 days because we opted to jump in a jeep after Muktinath as we were pretty tired and just looking forward to lower altitudes.
After some R&R in Pokhara, our transfers to Chitwan were all organised by Shiva and we stayed at a lovely little riverside resort (Wildlife Adventure Resort) and had a program of safaris and activities which I loved. Everything was quite organised and punctual, staff very professional. Another transfer back to Kathmandu and Shiva met us again to get us briefed for our week-long Tibet tour. Our group was made up of just one other person, which we preferred rather than a big group, a driver and a guide (these two were exchanged at the border for a Tibetan driver and guide, who were also excellent). Although Ask The Nepal had less control over the Tibetan part of our trip, it was also a great experience.
Ask The Nepal are a relatively new set-up but with very experienced staff who've been in the business for decades. Shiva is a very kind, genuine manager and we felt we could call on him with any questions any time of the day or night. I would recommend his company to travellers heading to Nepal (and make sure you ask for Uncle Ratna if going trekking - you won't be disappointed!)
